extention: i couldnt do story mode so i used action replay and playefd through story instead. though, if you use action replay, be careful with the force weapon cheat/hack. it can force the game to go back to the system menu for the ps2.

Cortez is only in TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect, there isn't really just 1 main character in TimeSplitters 1. Also, there isn't much of a story, all you do is run through the level, grab an item specific to that timezone, and get back to the start.

You'll just have to no where they spawn before they actually spawn.. its never random they will always spawn from the same place every time u play it... jus analyse how they do and u shuld eventually do it... i found it tricky too :)
