What is happening to this company? Everything seems to be going in a really bad direction with, Tammy Sytch being brought in, Gabe Sapolsky working his loyal fan base into thinking a disabled person needs cash and getting them to send donations to the company, Jigsaw removing his mask without any payoff ruining any chance to run a program with that being the main stipulation. I guess money issues drive reputable companies to do crazy things.

No shit, but the art is making it look spontaneous, pro wrestling isn't about saying "yea, it's choreographed, so watch what cool moves we can do" it's about saying "you know it's choreographed, but we're going to blow your mind and suck you into thinking it's not for about 20 minutes and cheer your ass off"

The entertainment that Chikara fills is similar to ice skating or gynmastics, yea, it's pretty and athletic, but it's not always good pro wrestling.

No, I don't hate Dragon Gate "too" and I don't hate Chikara, I just think they're both overrated. To an extent, anyone can come up with crazy shit, practice it 100 times, and get it down pat.

Let me use an analogy, is a guitarist great because he can play faster than anyone else, or is a guitarist great because he can make better sounds? Sure, fast guitar playing sounds great, but is that all it takes?

Dragon Gate is a fast guitar player, and not much else.

Yes, the other guy does cooperate, but there shouldn't be a foot of air between the moves when they're rolling around quickly and doing front headsprings to get to their feet.

Chikara is entirely too loose, it's not the lucha style, I watch lucha, lucha is a lot of tumbling, but they're a lot more tight in their moves. The Chikara undercard annoys me more than anything in Chikara.

You're absolutely right, it's about a story, it's not about executing moves so complex and doing it so perfect that they look like both guys are doing the move, that's actually bad storytelling because at the heart of every wrestling match is a struggle.

You compare the real aspect of wrestling (cooperation with your opponent to make the match entertaining) with the fake aspect(the struggle). You're not making any sense.

No, some things can be done like whip into the ropes, but it shouldn't be blatant. There should be logic in the realm of the match. I saw a Chikara undercard match, the guy was basically dancing circles around the guy on bottom, and the guy on bottom just laid there and watched him, it was stupid.

Watch the Riccochett MV, there is a part where there's about a 30 second sequence that I hate, that's the kind of choreographed stuff I hate, it looks rehearsed, it should look spontaneous.

I wasn't comparing anything. All I was saying is that Chikara is entirely too loose most of the time and is closer to figure skating than pro wrestling.

Comedy match or not, the matches should be tighter, they look like shit sometimes. I realize that a lot of the undercard has less than 2 years experience, but that's no excuse. 

I don't want every match to be a storytelling masterpiece, that'd be dumb, but I don't want every match to look like my neighbors did it either.

Because everyone is acting like Chikara is so great and it's not. It's very one dimensional and very loose. Some of the matches are great, but a match full of contrived highspots will only make me appreciate it if it's on once or twice on the card. For instance, the Dragon Gate 6 man in ROH (which I think is overrated, but still, more crisp than the Chikara matches). It was good because it was the only one on the card it felt special, and it was crisp.

Chikara is insanely overrated. It's a more fun promotion yes, but the matches are so damn contrived, it looks more like ballet than wrestling. I can't stand the way Quackenbush wrestles half the time, it's like, frontflip/go between his legs/spin around him/armdrag/hold onto him/spin his head around, seated headscissors, spin into a pin/spin him again/armbar.

Just rediculously choreographed, and the whole of Chikara is like that. It's fun and pretty good, but it's insanely overrated.
