  • Seems like in every demo I've seen of this amp and the 15 watt version, they always seem to be lacking bass. Are these just naturally trebly amps?

  • which cabinet are u using?

  • Hello, TTK, I wonder if I can play loud and clean with a valve amplifier?

Also, can I play all kind of music with this amplifier? because I've hearded valve amplifier are to play rock most of all.

    Thanks!

  • good good good good good

  • @Nickpatient, agreed but as size goes up circuits change and the 50 has EL-34 tubes which do sound different to me, in which case it all depends on how they voiced the amp. which is why I asked, is it voiced like the nt 15? I do like it in the video.

  • TTK you are aware of how youtube seems to, the best word I have is compresses, the tone some. I have an original NT based on your vid. my question now is how does the 50 watt night trains tone differ from the 15. I know it is subjective but after seeing so many vids from you I figure I'll get your description! thanks Bertotti (xxxithink) still lovin the Minarik bye the way!

  • @JohnBertotti Think of it as watts = headroom (Volume before the amp starts to break up). Generally wattage doesn't affect the tone at all it just means that the 50 will be able to get a clean loud and you can get dirty sounds from the 15 at lower volumes.

  • hey ttk how does the NT50 take pedals? ovrdrive? chorus?

  • Why are people saying it's Chinese? I really hope it isn't because I don't want to waste my money on something that isn't the real thing...

  • i have one of these; first of all the tubes are not real EL34´s. They are chinese tubes called EL34-B´s. IF you put them side by side next to a real El34 and a 6L6 hey are even larger than a 6L6, so i have no idea what they are. The clean channel is all but useless on this amp and has hardly any volume whatsoever. In my opinion (57 yrs guitar experience) they should have kept this a clean to mean machine with one channel and Install real EL34´s so it is biased accordingly

  • nice man, thanks

  • I got a Marshall 1960 A 4 x 12 cab. It has a switch between mono/stereo saying 4 oms single or 8 ohms double.

Can this lil amp power this cab? I know it says its got 2 x 16 oms out. Really dig the review thanks for your time!

  • also I'm a rock/blues styled guitarist, so i won't be cranking metal out of this thing.

I do miss the absence of the reverb built in, but I imagine I can get a pedal that should suffice.

I'm looking for a road backup amp (and an amp for now since my Kustom 72 and Fender Twin are down needing repairs) and I think this lil amp may just do the Job. Thanks again!

  • Hey I was wondering if it can do 80s and 90s AOR Melodic Rock thanks

  • It wasn't very clear to me at the beginning. I know from a friend that the overdrive sounds just incredible (off course a lot better than on any vid) but what about the "clean side" of this amp? on every vid I found I hear that small crunchy tone on the clean channel! Can you get rid of it without losing the amp's fullest tone. E.g: can you play real "ultra-clean" jazz or blues on it?

I know I have to test someday but no shop I know has one in stock :(

Thx for the effort you took for this vid !

  • @brusselleke Yeas you can. This amp has enormous headroom.

  • @avw94 Thx! Still haven't had the chance to test one, but someday... I will (better soon than later)

  • What cab are you using?

  • Playing the NT15 with the Minarik lotus studio is a great combination through a 2 x12 with a Weber blue dog and silver bell, 15watts each prerola, light dope, ceramic. I have literally had offers to buy them! Now this head is out and it sounds every bit as good as the NT15 just a different flavor! Now for my question how well does it take pedals? I have gotten a bit addicted to my RC Booster! Thanks Bertotti

  • I must say as a Vox Owner X2 I Will get one of these heads!! I really thank you for your great demo of the product. You put some effort into it and it was greatly appreciated. I actually felt that you knew this was a great product and enjoyed playing thru it. I will buy on for sure cause I was wanting something with a bit more drive than my AC30. I have an AC4TV as well. I wanted abit more bite at a higher wattage and this will fit the bill. Thanks again.......

  • dude, you have a dope-ass collection!

  • I mean.. they all sound heavy in power chords.. but good solo sounds are hard to come by

  • what does it sound like in solos?

  • I'm considering getting rid of my Peavey JSX for something with more of a classic rock crunch and greater portability? How is this amp on size and weight?

  • Dude... the tone cut doesn't do anything to the bass frequencies. It only cuts treble.

  • Why would you play the riff with distortion?

  • I run this baby through my 4x12 half stack with celestion vintage 30's and I really couldn't be happier with my tone/ versatile sound now and plan on sticking with it until she dies... and I hope the day never comes.... I'd say get this amp but DON'T... I want all that yummy Vox tone for me haha!!! *evil grin*

  • Thank you for this video I really want a test video of this amp , not the test of the namm and you do that as so thank you very much i Convinced me to buy this amp to replace my shitty line 6

  • Great demo!

I love the sound of the night train but when you changed to the OD channel, it seemed that you've lost a lot of volume. Is that due to the settings you've had?

I mean it would kinda suck, if I would have to change the volume after every channel switch.

I'd be glad to hear your opinion about that.

  • Already have an AC15, but I kinda want this now too...

    Great review!!

  • Great over view as always - does it do U2 chime with a strat type set up?

  • should I get this or the NT15H? I won't be gigging. And should I get a cab before a head? I only have a vypyr 30

  • @pivotduke2 I'm not the tone king but the 15 watt would be great for home play. Also you should probably get the cab and head at the same time as without one the other is useless.. good luck

  • @Imsjr I am in a metal band and a rock band...I love the sound of this amp but do you think I would have to rock a metal pedal infront of the amp? and which would you suggest given my situation...a Blackstar ht100 head OR this vox?

  • his studio looks like a mini Guitar Center

  • *series

  • man, this Night Train serie by the Vox is so fucking awesome!

    WHAT A TONE!

  • so headroom = more bass?

  • I can't notice or estimate any kind of attack when you just strum some open chords. do some funky stuff or solo with slow bendings in the OD channel

  • What cab did you use?

  • I noticed there is a volume and gain on the girth channel, and there is also a master volume in the seperate section with the tone cut. What is the volume in the girth channel?

  • ...and this one here...

  • I wish they would use EL84s on this so you can pull out tubes to lower the wattage.

  • If the bright channel sounded so thin with a Gibson bridge humbucker, I don't even want to imagine what kind of horrible sounds come out of it when someone tries it out with a single-coil pickup!

  • what kind of cabinet do you use?

  • in holland it will cost only 679 euro's that's about 750 to 800 dollars:O

  • Pause the video and bring it back to the very beginning, 0:00, that would make a really killer poster pic! The guitar, the face and all those beauties in the back!

  • so for 200 more bucks you get a second channel, 35 more watts, and way more features. who is gonna buy the standard night train??????

great review tone king, your chops are rightous

  • @epitaph664 well the original would be better for studio and bedroom levels.

  • Nice review TTK, glad to hear some clean sounds as well as the grit ;). One thing I'd like to hear is some single coils like from a strat or tele or something. Thanks again!

  • This has got nothing to do with this video, but what's your favorite tuning och favorite guitar?

  • I must say you've grown alot as a musician you sound great!

  • @EvanN108 Thank you Evan. I appreciate your comment very much! ROck ON

  • You're out of tune.

  • TTK... is youtube your 'job' cause these vids must take for ever to make...

  • Great demo Mr. Tone King. Very dynamic sounding amp, and your video showed it nicely. One of my favourite demos of yours. Cheers.

  • Nice sounding amp. Good playing, as usual. It seemed the knobs turned really easy. Is that the case?

  • Nice Zeppelin shirt!

  • Review was pretty good, but what is the tone cut for? And the little switch in the master section, how about demo'ing what it does. Can you get a classic sound out of it? Sounds like a more modern gain style you were playing? I suspect that that tone cut switch scoops the mids or boosts the bass.

  • This thing is a cheaper version of the discontinued ac50cph head I have. sounds a little thinner and less bells ind whistles but nothing vox makes sounds bad thier all good. Just like Marshall both companies owned by Korg.

  • I really like your using a real les paul whether an epi or gibson. Also add a strat in demos then you have the most popular and industry standard guitars covered with a more transparent and not colored by ultra high output pickups in some of those funky guitars you use.

  • Your audio levels are to low dude......?

  • this is a lot like the 50 watt classic plus head I just sold yesterday :(

the eq is a little more touchy than most but once you play with it for awhile you can get some sweet tones. next time you play with it tone king, move up the volume on the 2nd channel, not the master volume, it will give you a better tone

  • @lmsjr Great sound, any idea when they will be released in Europe?

  • dude i appreciate the videos but can you please at least learn a pentatonic scale?

  • @masoudnima i would have said he should learn how to play in general but that would be a good start.

  • Gibson Chad Kroeger Les Paul?

  • Seriously ..that amp sucks!! Perfect amp if your tone deaf and can't afford the real deal, but any serious player would pass on this chinese/korean piece of shit.

  • @bennyvx08 fuck off snob

  • @bennyvx08 ...Jet City's are made in China.

  • @scarey2k7. Well it sure sounds like it, and sounds fucking shallow and cheap. ..I'll pass.

  • @bennyvx08 Hey why don't you just grow up and admit you like it us the ass and cant take it like a man. K thanks Bye

  • @needforcreed067. Nope. The amp still sucks ass. Worst amp everrrr. So fuck off with this shit, and give the real deal.

  • @scarey2k7 is made in china?

  • Cool amp tk! Always fancied one of these. Also TK could you recommend a small valve amp, i'm thinking of downgrading from a Marshall jcm 2000 it's just too big for my rehearsal space, i'd really appreciate the advice dude!

  • @ntrbluesx Hey nt - Thx for the comment. Small valve amp? if you like this but want smaller, check out the Lil Night Train, or the NT15. Similar tone, different power section, greater portability. Thanks bro! Rock ON!

  • at the first the video image seemed to be a concert x)

  • hey toneking im looking for a kind of plexi modded like amp, probably to get a plexi like clean sound in the clean channel, and then the nice overdrive in the 2nd channel do u think a jet city could do this?

  • @mufc0794 carvin v3 dude. Best clean channel ever, and has 2 dirty channels(alike). Great sounding amp. TTK did a review of it.

  • i want the chair that the amp is sitting on. lol

  • @schecterguitarsfan its a pork pie throne i believe. Possibly the most comfortable thing in the world!

  • @dudewuttheheck Yup, it's the pork pie. Perfect for an amp demo - in that you can spin things around!

  • @lmsjr haha yup! And they come in awesome colors! Great review by the way, but I think I like the original night train more.

  • Thanks ttk!

  • ttk u always play in G

why dont you switch it up and play something different?

  • Since you changed to the Girth channel is all the way dow to ZOMFG, great amp

  • @Sergioterol haha. Thanks! yes, the Girth channel hits pretty hard. Wolf in sheeps clothing for sure! Thx for the comment!

  • Good Video. Has a nice crunch to it, not High Gain but good for Rock. What cab were you running it through?

  • @hawg427 Thanks BL. Cab was the 4x12 behind me. (Randall). I'm going to swap cabs soon though. Swith things up a bit.

  • You, rock on!

  • @STRUMGROOVE haha. Thanks!

  • great tone

  • @cwilder01 Thank you!

  • Truly "sweet" sound

  • @SerWer90 I agree. Especially on clean - it had that 'chime' that Vox does really well. Thx for the comment!

  • You know what would be awesome? If you could put toguether a Tone shootout between the 3 night trains... i know they will differ very much... but maybe something like, what you can/can't get from each one, and how they scale the possibilities. IDK... just an idea

BTW nice thing you swithced to a les paul... and great, greeeeeaaaaaat tone mister

  • @Sergioterol Hmmm ... good idea. Thx for the suggestion. I have the NT15. I dn't have the Lil', but perhaps a compare / contrast to the 50 and the Nt15? Thx for the comment. Rock ON!

  • Internet at house sucks! Damn video wont load!

  • @danukenator123 are u getting a black screen? if so delete you java and redownload.

  • @TheSammyreynolds Nah...just really slow internet. Now that the video has loaded. I feel that this defeats the original purpose of the Night Train but it does sound nice.
