Since than I have made a real effort to write posts in my blog with "pillar content"; 400 words or more with a focus on being unique and helping people. @melissaray3 Ya know my question is when you fist start out they and i mean :gurus say that you don't need to be an expert in your niche to make money from it and i'm just starting out so i'm starting to think that you do because how can you write a quality post about something you don't have any knowledge or passion for? am i wrong? or can i wing it? FYI, I just began marketing for real estate agents listings & part of my strategy is posting everywhere possible... I'm thinking some are good for backlinks, but not sure.

@theinnercreative I think if you are truly engaged in your topic there is no need for encyclopedias, paid research etc. It's really about how you present the content AND your individual angle that makes sites stand out. I have never really found the need for extensive research (other than reading tutorials online for my niche), but I think people should spend more time thinking about what is missing and try to find the right/angle approach to make their sites more unique.

@theinnercreative I do think there are some that are more saturated (my niche for example), but it's hard for me to state a "good" niche off the top of my head. I hate to do that without doing proper keyword research and analyzing supply of the market. There are really so many variables you must consider.

One thing I like about this video is that it takes the rush out of just writing for writing's sake. If you are really spending time on your blog posts then you may only write one a week. If that blog has useful content then that article is worth it. It doesn't make sense to put out information every week if it's not really that interesting. Thanks Lisa!

I agree. These days people are lazy and don't want to make the extra effort to stand above the rest. Like I said last time, they are blogging for money and not for uniqueness. Another problem I see all the time, is that people blog about topics they don't know much about, or at all, and just write a blah abstract article. The more you know, the more it will show in your topic.

This is a great piece of advice. I see a lot of people posting almost anything just to have something to post. I try not to do that. I prefer blogs with one or two great posts a week than those that post daily but all the info is "empty".

I have a few of those pillar posts but I can and will do much better, it is a great way to get a lot of traffic.
