  • Work on swinging it a bit more, listen to a lot of mature-sounding 'bone players eg, Bill Watrous, Steve Turre, and of course the pioneer JJ Johnson. Also work on implementing substitution harmony and playing through the changes. Work on connecting your notes a whole lot more. Fluidity and dexterity are of utmost importance for the jazz trombonist. All the best.

  • I just controlle the flow of the air coming out of my mouth with my lips keeping the vibrato in tempo with the piece.
