If I buy a working clock off the wall, all I do is put a piece of masking tape over the pendulum, take the weights off and take it down. Then I place it where I want it, take the masking tape off and re-hang the weights. Level the bob at center. I was told by and old time clock maker that "tick tick" was the correct sound, not tick tock. Make sure the catgut isn't snagged and away we go. Adjustment of the pendulum bob might take a while, if its fast, lower the bob a little or move it up if slow
