  • Nice but, the doctor should be more present. In the whole trailer he does nothing and say almost nothing. We don't see a tardis, a sonic, nothing. If not for the ending title, I would never have guessed it was a who inspired production. From the trailer one could suppose its just any scifi movie using a famous brand to attract viewers. You should prove those wrong by making a better trailer.

  • I only begin smoking weed in the afternoon, because then is when i wake up.

  • I would've preferred it if you HADN't used the Doctor.

  • AMAZING loved this!

  • nice, bringing back the ice warriors :) and the kid is sooo creepy...

  • I think this trailer and the actual production is darn good! =3 You guys are really good. Yes, martians are cliché but you make them look AWESOME!!! The Doctor Who newer series is based on making rubbish characters brilliant, and yes, Martians are very retro, but you guys have made them so awesome, and on what Im guessing is low budget! I will look forward very much to future productions, well done!

  • Interesting Fan made trailer. Kudos to all involved.

I bit surprised by some of the flak you have received but then where would YouTube be without its haters and trolls? Er... a much better place.

Anyway I just wanted to say well done. So, "Well Done"!

  • Wow. Can't understand why everyone is being so harsh! These guys are fans, they're doing it for the love of it, so don't expect 100% professional results - and frankly this looks dozens of times better than most fan efforts.

Congrats on getting this made and I hope you had fun doing it!

  • This is better than some of the official episodes, case in point The Unicorn and the Wasp, this is a million times better than that episode

  • oh. its a fan film.. well the acting sucks. try harder. and i hav that exact pink sweater.

  • @wigbig2 I know it's made in Wales. In Pontypridd and Pontypool. I'm just saying that all the actors are English (and I won't insult any others by calling them British again...I know how annoying that is) and Scottish or Welsh (and occasionally Irish).

  • Quite cool, but can't get to grips with the fact that you all have American accents...Doctor Who is quintessentially British/English. Good attempt though, looks very professional :o)

  • @VampireOfTheNight1 doctor who is made in wales not england

  • The Ice Warriors! a sight for sore eyes indeed.

  • An AMAZING episode, I could actually compare this to a fully fledged blockbuster and consider this better! The episode made the Ice Warriors one of my favourite characters, and the acting was extremely good considering this as a fan film. This has utterly blown away my expectations, I'd rate your episode E for Epic!

  • I can't decide between this, or Devious as a fan-film. If anything, I think The Doc's hair in this lets him down lol. It looks better when it's stuck flat down, the actor (Kennteh, was his name?) actually LOOKS the part when his hair is stuck down. Besides from that great!

  • Wow, you've gotten a lot of flack! :(

I like the look of the film and I think its very impressive, especially for a fan made film :)

  • i really enjoyed Fice and Ice, How long did it take to make one full epsiode and what did u use for The TARDIS Background and other places

  • over-emotional soap opera nonsense - you got the new series of Dr. Who spot on!

  • that was as the ninth doctor might say "fantastic"!!!

are you guys based in America?

  • @Gavinkeenan1 No, they're just faking the accents.

  • Why does every one have to make fun of the Americans. Including myself.

  • @theLegendofZelda2009 lol at americans

  • @theLegendofZelda2009 Because they sound stupid, no matter how much Hollywood tries to make us used to them.

  • See? this proves that Americans rip off british things and ruin everything.

  • Shut up.

  • @TheArcher101 agreed, they should be like us australians xD

  • @hessian1235 Lol, kangaroos ftw!

  • @TheArcher101 oi, Kangaroos are better than.. idk.. whatever the americans have :P

  • @hessian1235 Too right!

  • @hessian1235 Buffalo, oh no wait they killed them all off. God bless America!

Oooh say can you ... etc.

  • @TheArcher101 The British ruined Dr. Who. from 2003-2010.

  • @LegoDaleks i will seriously come over to wherever sewer u live in and rip your throat out and feed t to a baby joey! dont mock david tennant, i dont care about christopher eccleston tho, mock him all u like, even mock matt smith, but not david tennant, an enemy of him is an enemy of me, A.K.A.. the americans, god bring havok among the americans, like meteors etc.

  • @hessian1235 I can't find a comment of mine on this video slagging off David Tennant, but if that's what you want. Here is what I said about David's acting in a comment on another video: Two ways of telling someone's a good actor: Spitting and shouting, now all he needs to do is be able to stutter a lot and he'll be Hollywood material and then he'll really start winning some 'real' American awards.

  • @LegoDaleks No, the Americans ruined Doctor Who with the TV movie. The British revived it in 2005. Don't know where you got 2003 from.

  • @CaptainAndyman They decided to bring it back in 2003. 2005 is just the year the 1rst season came on TV. The movie might have made the Dr. regenerate but only a Dr. who had been in it for several years where as the new series killed off the 8th and 9th Dr.'s real quick and made terrible casting decisions for the 9th, 10th and 11th coupled together with some crappy writers. The movie is far truer to the original than the crap on BBC1 they call Dr. Who. I point out all the plot holes in my vids.

  • @LegoDaleks I don't understand how anyone who likes the movie can criticise the new writers. The plotline for the movie was... oh yeah, there wasn't one. 9th Doctor only died quickly because Eccleston wanted to leave. 9th 10th and 11th Doctors are amazing. (and I'm not one of those really annoying girls who only watched it cos DT was in it: I'm a boy, I'm straight I just think he was brilliant). The only difference between the old and new series is quality of effects.

  • @CaptainAndyman The difference between the old and the new is that I could never be able to write an old Doctor Who script but I sure could Sh!t better scripts than RTD and Moffat! I thought the movie was terrible but the new series is far worse! Every Christmas one is worse than the last. The 10th Dr.'s last one was so bad that even new whovians who liked all the crap, hated it! Talk about no plotline. How did he die anyway? Cried to death? Friggin Cartoon character on steroids.

  • @LegoDaleks Oh dear. You're one of the weirdos who doesn't like the word emotion beign related to Doctor Who. I suppose you'd rather watch a flat robotic show, with unrealistic characters. He died from radiation poisoning to save Wilf from the nuclear vault which had gone critical. There was a perfect plotline. RTD and Steven Moffat are amazing writers, Moffat even more so. Look at the Eleventh Hour and The Time of Angels. I'm sorry but if you thought those episodes were bad you have problems.

  • @CaptainAndyman The Dr. was exposed to great amounts of radiation in Smith and Jones and all he had to do was do a little dance and put his shoe in the bin and he was fine. Emotions are one thing but sitting in a Cafe crying for no reason is even pointless in a soap opera. If you can't see the holes in your own argument then I don't expect you to see the various plot holes in the new series of Dr. Who.

  • @LegoDaleks The radiation he was exposed to in Smith and Jones was near harmless to Time Lords. He said he played with blocks of it at nursery. The radiation in The End of Time was much more severe, it had gone critical and he said he had to absorb 5000 rads, which is a lot. He cried in the cafe because of the impact of realising what he'd done by breaking the laws of time and the realisation that he was going to die.

  • @CaptainAndyman He breaks the laws of time all the time, but that doesn't matter cuz there aren't any timelords. If the radiation was really that bad why or how did he have the energy to visit all his friends before at long last dying? You've got an explanation for everything, (it would've been better if the Dr. had) I suppose you're going to tell me how the TARDIS blowing up made any sense?

  • @LegoDaleks Actually I am! 1. He was upset about breaking the laws of time because he had forced Adelaide to kill herself.

    2. The radiation was lethal but it took a while to actually kill him, and he was fighting against it too.

    3. Because he was delaying the regeneration it was like putting something in the way of water flowing, eventually the pressure builds and then bang! Explosive regeneration+TARDIS=BOOM!

  • @TheArcher101 agreed

  • @hessian1235 & LegoDaleks The americans ruined the planet for 6 billion years

  • To tell the truth- the acting looks awful- my middle school drama club could do better. The aliens look dumb. And the plot looks underdeveloped. Sorry. but not something I'd want to watch. (and Dr. Who is my favourite show of al time)

  • Well, it was voted best Doctor Who fan film of the last decade.

  • @DoctorWho2009series

Key words being 'fan film'. Sorry I was so harsh, but you said you wanted the truth. Then again, this might be a bad trailer for a brilliant film!

  • @DoctorWho2009series i can see why :D

  • @DoctorWho2009series Sorry, but this dosen't even come close to Devious.

  • @DoctorWho2009series Still awesome, though.

  • @PoeticRamblings What do you mean the aliens look dumb? They were actually in Doctor Who, in the classic series! They're called the Ice Warriors and the costumes in this are pretty much identical to the ones used in real Doctor Who.

  • @PoeticRamblings it looks awesome and the ice warriors (for a fan film) look abolutely amazing!! so i dont no how you can think its bad

  • @PoeticRamblings Aliens look dumb, those are some of the greatest of the classic doctor who villains done perfectly.

You don't seem like a Doctor Who fan, just one of these painful fanboys of the new series and David Tennant

  • @Murdock129

True, I'm more a fan(GIRL) of the newer doctors, but not just Tennant and Smith, back to Davison. Just because something's It might have been a "classic" doesn't mean it's good. And in this case, it just looks hokey. It may have been good decades ago, but that oesn't mean it does now. People change, tastes change.

  • @PoeticRamblings Well while I completely disagree I can at least respect your opinion, no matter how deluded and incorrect I personally believe it may be

  • @Murdock129

We'll agree to disagree then. :)

  • @PoeticRamblings I have to agree with you on the acting, it looked pretty rubbish, at least in that one scene. With all due respect though, the monsters were designed in the 60's, so....

  • @PoeticRamblings Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there, and that coming from someone who usually can't tell if acting is good or bad.

  • @PoeticRamblings dude you suck. this is an awesome video.

  • Plenty of (pretty bad) Doctor Who stories have been set in America. lol. I'm American though. It's a fan film, anyways. It doesn't matter where it takes place.

  • Hon it's a fan film. It can be set anywhere. In fact that's what story is all about. Stories can be set anywhere. And Seriously who cares it's all in fun?

  • Well it is produced in America so then what else would it look like?

  • ICE WARRIORS! haha!

    that was quite awesome.

  • what the hell

  • i saw this couple of weeks ago! its really good.

  • what is this ?

  • What do you think it is?

  • this looks amazing.

  • it looks good. prefer british doctor and didn't like the american movie but this looks really good

  • hell hell hell what!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha what the hell is this?

  • That did look great

  • looks great

  • Awesome ! Whooo it's amazing !

I have to see this fan episode !

  • that actually looks really good; I think the doctor is well casted, better than the upcoming doctor (although that's not hard)

  • My friend, 100% amazing, and looking forward to watching the full episode :3

  • epic, i'm american to, and i love doctor who!

(-: waters of mars is on in england tonight :-)

  • p.s. martians are cliche.

  • You must not be familiar with classic Doctor Who. The Ice Warriors appeared in four stories between 1967-1974. Their home planet was established as Mars in 1967. Watch the episode of "Fire and Ice" to see how embarrassed the Doctor is to say they're from Mars. He realizes it's cliche.

  • @DoctorWho2009series

I recognized them, but I just don't like them, so I wouldn't use them. But that's just my honest opinion, very sorry if I'm being too harsh here.

  • creppy, so nice However, every thing is to thought out. All the movements seem planned. The actors shouldn't be arfaid to move how they feel their charecter should move.

  • Holy crap. Nice.

  • This creature in black suit looks like Dark Vador :D

  • You mean Darth Vader?? lol

  • the french name is Dark Vador :D

  • I LOVE IT! Not Doctor Who but I'd certainly watch it!

  • I'm disturbingly amused at the sheer amount of people complaining that this isn't canon "Doctor Who".

Funny. I assumed the "Fan Made" portion would have cleared that up.

Fantastic trailer! It certainly perked my interest. I hope to view more soon. This looks far more mature than what I anticipated. Kudos and keep it up!

  • this isnt doctor who but look at 1:41 - 1:43 the desktop theme is coral!!

  • We love Doctor Who, we love film making, 50,000 downloads of the episode in the first week, rave reviews, encouraging people to express their creativity with something they've loved for over 25 years... I could go on and on...

  • Sweet Jesus that was awesome. You've got a career in film ahead of you.

  • lol why ??

lucky ya wont get sued lol thank god it's fan made !

  • this aint drwho

  • this is doctor who??? no way!

  • the style has changed:(

  • i think this is a truly exceptional video, but i don't really think the beggining of it is really doctor-who-ish.

  • wow if i didnt know dr who then i'd thut this was real

  • eur t female dog as u swear like 904348097093852869 times

  • that deosnt make sence btw

  • For a fan series this looks really good and I can tell alot of effort has gone into this. Can't wait to see your take on it, although for me doctor who is just pure britishness I still can't wait to see what it'll be like! Good trailer!

  • This is the first fan trailer for Doctor Who that I have ever found interesting and been excited to see! I hope it lives up to this fantastic trailer. I'm all for a real American companion, too, just wish it'd been me! *g*

  • I guess...

This vid is good but it's nothing like the real Dr Who.

  • No its not. Its good but not Doctor Who.

    We'll just beg to differ.

  • not bad, would like to see more

  • The problem that any American take on Doctor Who is fundamentally just that; it is an American take on Doctor Who. The quinessential englishness of the series has been the cornerstone of its appeal, and arguably this was one of the reasons why the TV Movie ultimately was destined to fail.

The Doctor isn't simply an archetype, he is a British Archetype.

Now of course this is not to say that this is a bad trailer by any means. However, is the trailer in essence, Doctor Who?

    Alas no.

  • Actually, it is in essence Doctor Who. The British aspect is easily replaceable. I watch DW for the stories and characters, not because it's British.

  • I'm British, English to be exact, and the whole thing I like about Dr Who is that it isn't Americanish - like the Simpsons, or Family Guy or whatever.

  • Then you're just biased.

  • Interesting because I think RTDs vision of Doctor Who is more Americanised (buffy etc) than this, which although featuring American actors - naturally - feels a lot more old school British Doctor Who to me.

  • I have to agree with you. Even though I am American, I enjoy the "Britishness" of Doctor Who and have since I was a child. Frankly, doing anything American with it would ruin it as the entertainment world in America has a distinctly different view of how characters progress, evolve and I find that view extremely flawed. Especially in the Sci-fi genre. I don't know why, but the Brits have a handle on the nuance that the Americans do not have.

  • This isn't American. There are just American characters in the first episode because the companion is American - and she is not the first American companion in Doctor Who. But apart from this - it's a fan series and you're all judging it on way too high of a level.

  • It looks ok, bit too American Though

  • thats looks gd

  • loving it. I hate the bed comments.

  • ... this is fan made ! BUT ... BUT ... it's way to good to be fan made !!! this can't be fan made ... can it ... but the tardis looked exactly identical to the real one

  • Have to say as an Avid Doctor Who fan that was bloody impressive. All i can say is Get on and make a whole episode lol

  • The whole episode is available at the Doctor Who 2009 website.

  • Wow. Some comments are quite ignorant and really just rude.

How do FANS making a non-profit film for fun "ruin" Doctor Who? If the actual series is so "genius" (which I agree), then I wouldn't think a fan film could have such an effect.

Aside from that, I'd say it's pretty amazing anyway. And do you have experience with watching fan films? Because there are very few that reach this calibur, especially for Doctor Who.

  • (Cont.) It's difficult to make something of this quality with a small team and budget. Doubt you could do better, considering your profile consists of some uploaded videos with very plain titles and "genius" definitely didn't come to mind (you wont mind me saying this since you don't seem to mind being harsh about others' work) . Constructive criticism is one thing, but I just thought your comment here was a bit snotty, to be perfectly honest. Sorry for the rant, but you rubbed me the wrong way.

  • (Cont. again) And to the team of Doctor Who 2009: Well done. You've accomplished a lot with what I know were little resources. You have bright future ahead of you in the film (not sci-fi TV) industry! Best of luck. :)

P.S. Simon, have you even watched the actual episode? I just wonder since you commented on the trailer and not the actual ep.

  • this isn't me trying to be anti american and mean but please will you stop trying to make doctor who this would be a good film or show and i would gladly watch it but it isn't doctor who cut all that out don't try to tie it into doctor who you are ruining your own potentially good show/ film make it your own and then get a tv station behind it and as u are showing you americans love DW so this could be your equivalent sc fi alien based show please take this as support you have great potential.

  • Most of the team making this was british. The first episode just takes place in America. This is not an American version. It's a fan film.

  • Hahaha. I'm sure they will stop making their series just because you asked them to. Please. You sound pretty anti-American to me. And believe it or not it's not as easy as you make it sound to "get a tv station behind it". Wtf.

Fan films are done in TRIBUTE to the original work. I'm struggling to see what problem you have with this?

I found out that some of the team is british and in england..all over the world actually. From what I can tell, this thing has gone pretty viral online too.

  • Forgive my ignorance but is there any connection with the original series? Looks awesome - doen't look fan made at all.

  • I agree it is above and beyond your average fan film. A couple (gentle) critiques: 1) It needed some story editing for a tighter pace and 2) self-monologues really don't work. But on a whole, very entertaining. The haunting ending was really great and leaves you wanting more.

  • just watched this. and i am absolutley amazed this is a work of pure genius everything is just perfect. you must download this. wow wow freakin wow

  • Is there any way you can make it smaller somehow, because its over a GIG and a half and that'd completely slow down the bandwidth for a good few days?

It's suberb by the way, absolutely suberb.

  • :O It is amazing!!. I never thought something like this even existed!! I can't wait to see it. ^.^

  • The Doctor isn't "British" anyway - he's supposed to be an Alien :)

Anyway - the trailer's great - and i'm looking forward to the first part which is available to download NOW!

  • This has been released. You can download it at the website.

  • Looks alright. Is that guy supposed to be the Doctor, though? He looks like the Master. hahaah. Sorry. He just does. To me, anyway.

  • Its more than half way through 2009... is this ever gonna come out?

  • Wow, that looks pretty good, well done!

  • Very impressive!!! Oh and Ice Warriors !!!!!!!!!YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!

  • wanna see inside the tardis and couldnt tell if the doctor was english. i hope he is. i wonder what the budget was for this movie. it actually looks good

  • who are u

  • except for the exterminaten

  • nice. surprisingly well done (as others have said). I don't think America could even get away with TRYING to pitch a Doctor Who knock off! I mean really?! They already ruined Life On Mars! and DW is NOT American (I'm American and pretty sure I couldn't watch it if the US got hold of it)

  • John Malkovich as the Dr, I can see that. The Movie for sci/fox was an intent to get the yanks to produce the tv series along with britain

  • This looks surprisingly good. When I saw fan film I thought it was going to be a couple kids with a video camera. I'm looking forward to this. Good job. :)

  • Wow, that "best friend since the second grade" is a HORRIBLE actress. Buuuut other than her, this looks great. :)

  • this looks like a mixof starwarsand an american doctor who! stay tuned LMAO XD

  • great job.

  • cheapy american spin off.

    why do they ruin everything?

  • It's not an American spin-off, it's a fan film that's first episode happens to take place in America. This was made by both UK and US fans.

  • When I saw the words fan film I got very worried. Now I'm in a sense of awe - this looks so good...

  • Oooh, ice warriors are old school!

  • This looks freakin' AWESOME!

  • Take it as a compliment. Although tbh I dnt really like it either, however these are just fans - it's not official and it's all from their pockets. If u don't wanna watch, don't. BTW the Doctor is British in this (dunno where from tho) whilst the other characters are American.

  • Not all the characters are American. The first episode just takes place in America. It's as American as "Dalek" was.

  • Oh my bad, thanks for the correction. But yeah that shows people even more that they shouldn't be so against this because it features Americans!!

  • Even if this was an American series, Doctor Who was created for the BBC in 1963 by a Canadian (North American) named Sydney Newman. Look it up on the BBC website. British remakes of American shows: Law & Order: UK, The Brighton Belles, Married For Life, Loved By You, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Days Like These, The Apprentice, The Upper Hand, and countless others. It goes both ways guys.

  • queer eye for the straight guy was originally brit

  • You guys do realize this isn't an American TV series - it's a fan film made by both UK and US fans.

  • I'm so stunned... I can't even decide which feeling to go with:

    "YES! MORE DOCTOR WHO!!!"

    or

"OH, WHAT HAVE YOU CRAZY PEOPLE DONE!!!"

  • Nah Ive been following this since it was a concept - be excited cuz I know it's gonna be an amazing series to watch!!! Plus they are bringing back enemies of the doctor that haven't yet been brought back in the official series, as in this episode - The Ice Warriors. I was never around to experience them during the old series and I'd love to learn about them in this!!

  • HA HA HA!!! UK TV has 2 good shows Torchwood and Doctor Who. Thats it! Even those seem like their edited by a 10 yr old. U.S. has has SG-1, Babylon 5, Eureka, Atlantis, Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, etc... Many, many more!!! And until you bloke put out a feature film to rival the Dark Knight, shut up!!!! What a joke, that you think you can even compare U.S. movies and TV to you guys.

  • its impressive, but sad.

  • Im English too, and I don't get it, what is with the Amarican Doctor Who?

  • i have no idea- whats with the american primeval to? there doing spin ofs of our shows, why cant they get there own ideas?? sometimes american T.V pisses me of. BIG STYLE.

  • I SO KNOW. The best they have come up with is Superman. Loom at our imagination: Time Traveller with 13 lives, holes in time and sapce, boy wizard who has toface the most evil wizard ever.

America's imagination:man who can do everything. man who can do almost everything. man who spends movey so he can do everything. The only decent American programe is Heroes, wiat, that sounds familiar. Yep teen who can do everthing with enemy who can do everything,. American TV guys, go and get some lives!

  • they came up with Batman. I like Batman.

  • I like Batman too, but like I said: man who spends money so he can do everything.

  • I no. Somtimes I think PROTECT WALLACE AND GROMIT!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean they're the only thing that hasn't been stolen. PROTECT IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • who ever subscribes to me will get 1 mabey 2 back !!!!!!!!

  • crap
