  • Absolutly

  • Does it also work for a 10ft net

  • I don't get it......I thought for sure this method would be the one that would work for me................but after almost 50 throws...........I still can't get it to open more than a taco, banana or kidney bean shape.............I just don't get it........can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...........other than trying to throw a dam cast net...............

  • @gverb1219 If your net is not soft and flexable soak it in a 5 gallon bucket with 2 tablespoons of fabric softener. If you are using a 6ft or smaller net this method is not the best. Good Luck

  • Thank you very much - great video. I have been searching youtube videos to learn how to catch large shrimp. I want to catch large shrimp using a cast net here in Rabat, Morocco I can buy shrimp in the local stores but its really expensive and doesn't taste fresh. The Atlantic ocean is about four miles from our house.

What kind of bait would work to catch shrimp?

  • This is THE best cast net method I've seen so far. Simply excellent. Congratulations.

  • Thank you a lot for the tips!

  • awesome video thanks for uploading practice time

  • You are a genuine! Ohh and I have a 4 ft cast net and I throw it fine perfect cast every time but I am thinking about getting a larger net but I'm a little bit on the week side will I still be able to throw the big net good?

  • Yes you can throw a bigger net and I recommend a 8' net. Actually a larger net is easier to throw.

I recently bought a new Fitec net and was very dissapointed. The net does not have lead weightseven though the box clearly indicates on the features panel that it has “1 Lb lead per radius foot”. The large plastic coated weights on this net are difficult to use and they hinder the throw, tangle in the brail lines easily and seems to sink very slowly. I do not recommend Fitec.

  • I actually hope to now stop clubbing my fish to death with lead sinkers and now catch some fish in my net for a change,

Will try this simple technique, that DOES not involve me eating my net or getting soaked.

    Thanks mate for sharing.

  • In all the years of fishing and living in the Fl Keys and S Fl I never got into cast netting due to the seeming complexity and lack of time to learn casting. However, as others have pointed out here, your method and vid is the best I have seen. Now in NW Fl where cast netting is a way of life, I am encouraged to try again. Thanks.

  • awesome, simple,, effective practice makes perfect thanks a million heading to the keys this fathers week will kill with this

  • Thank you Sir! Best video I've seen on this topic.

  • The net is Fitec 8' with 3/8 mesh for catching shrimp or bait but it also works for mullet. I recently bought a new Fitec net and was very dissapointed. The large plastic coated weights on this net are difficult to use and they hinder the throw, tangle in the brail lines easily and seems to sink very slowly. I do not recommend Fitec.

  • Great vid, Great throw! I have a 6 footer, im new to using a cast net, been trying for the past few days, net in teeth, over the shoulder, spinning, not spinning, blah blah. I watched this video and have been throwing decent casts in the pool all night. Took me about 10 times before is started to open up for me but now its throwing out naturally, and even a couple "Dollar Pancakes" thanks zedmon66!
