Amazing song, the words are right on topic for the strife America has had to deal with. The fact that Hurt used the Totalitarian concept from George Orwell's book "1984" gives the song a deeper meaning and I'm actually surprised at how well they portrayed this analogy in a song.

I'm not against the army or naive enough that peace isn't maintained by violence (not to say that it would be nice if it didn't have to be that way) cuz lets face it just because we want to avoid conflict in our country doesn't mean that we can convince other countries of our views. What upsets me is that we tell our children that solving things with violence isn't really solving anything at all...and yet wars are going on around them. They are told one thing by us and another by the media.

It is human nature to seek out sexual partners, yet we clearly restrain ourselves if only to a degree. I'm not sure I can accept "war" as part of human nature either. That would be to suggest that all humans have the tendency towards violence, which I'm not convinced is true. Certainly many do. But not all.

Amazing song, the words are right on topic for the strife America has had to deal with. The fact that Hurt used the Totalitarian concept from George Orwell's book "1984" gives the song a deeper meaning and I'm actually surprised at how well they portrayed this analogy in a song.

Why does everything always have to turn into a political debate? It's a beautiful song that's about war in general. Whether you think the current war was needed or not, no one can deny that every war throughout history could have been prevented, often just by one person tossing aside their selfish ego (no, I'm not talking about Bush, or Obama, or anyone in particular), and realizing that another war is senseless.
