  • I liked this tune better than "Bette Davis Eyes". I think that Kim Carnes is probably underrated. Probably, because her voice isn't unique. Melissa Etheridge and Bonnie Tyler have voices that are simular to Ms. Carnes. At any rate, What's she up to recently? It's like she disappeared into thin air after like 1983. Please let me know.

  • awesome new wave sound. i never heard this before.

  • ...this is by far the best kim carmes song and video EVER....sounds like it could be released today.....

  • EXCELLENT ALBUM!!!

  • This combination of song, video, and voice go together better than any one I've ever seen.

  • So it sounds like song is basically about a woman who is possibly a sex addict and who winds up being killed because of it? At least based off the video. Anyone know?

  • GREEEEEEEEEEEATTTT KIM!!!!!!!

  • one of my favorites songs!!!!

    lets mov our bodies!!!!

  • One of my favorites from her. Loved "Hurricaine" also. She knows how to capture mystery on tape. Stunning talent.

  • Kim's best ever song!!

  • @PNSPA To me, this song and 1983's Invisible Hands beat the overplayed Bette Davis Eyes any day! If I were to choose between Voyeur and Invisible Hands for her best song ever, it would be Voyeur by a long shot. While Bette Davis Eyes was a great song when it first came out in 1981, to me it got prehistoric fast.

  • i miss her

  • kim lookslike detective at 1:12 gr8 woman too

  • nice song

  • I'd forgotten about this song. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Love the 80's

  • This song was about 15 years before its time. Everytime I listen to it I can't help but think of the internet craze that started in the late 90's, and how fortelling the lyrics to this song are...Shame that this song was not a hit in the USA.

  • "VOYEUR" - BILLBOARD CHARTS:

  • can u send me this vid on msn please??

  • your mom has turn you on to some great music i am glad you are a fan

  • this is my favorite song from Kim Carnes ;]

  • This video is so 1982....I love it!

  • i still dont get the ninja's

  • I miss her and her voice

  • sooo sexy

  • Voyeur is and will be one of the best uderrated albums from the eighties. Thanks for the video.

  • Totally agree. This had some great tracks on it, with a slick production by Val Garay who did Mistaken Identity.

  • I am voyeur voyeur!!

  • There's something very haunting and chilling about this video. And the smokey dark back alley style of the 80's does nothing to diminish that feeling. Truly a classic!

  • A great single from a great album that got lost in the shuffle of Autumn 1982 - a pity really - but it has aged well and I agree with DB4UC, it's prime for a remake.....

  • With the huge popularity of the internet, I now feel this song was a few years before its time, lyrically. We're all voyeurs these days, especially us on YouTube. I never saw this video until now, and I'm an oldie who grew up on this stuff (42). I never saw it on MTV, and considered the whole Voyeur album to be a lost huge album because of the over-popularity of new acts introduced by MTV at that time. Someone should re-do this song soon, because it is so fitting for this time.

  • I'm surprised you never saw it on MTV, because they played the absolute hell out of it! The song was never a huge it, and I never understood why. Let's be honest, Kim Carnes had one big hit and that was it. It happens. But this song was way overlooked. It is SO good...and like you said, it was ahead of it's time. It was too dark for the day, but I love dark songs.

  • It's indeed a music as good as "Bette Davis'Eyes", and has a clip even better. I think the wonderful "Voyer" wasn't as "popular" (better saying, "as disseminate") as "Bette Davis'" because didn't pay tribute to a Hollywood actress... If it is true, it's a shame!

  • I agree this song totally kicked ass. Why it never was more popular than "Bette Davis Eyes" totally mystifies me.

  • This song is 100 times better than Bette Davis Eyes...always loved it. Can't believe it stiffed so bad.

  • Have always loved this song... so intense.

  • merci pour ce clip qui permet d'écouter cette superbe chanson

  • Did this inspire china blue or did china blue inspire this song ?

  • I always thought this song was ten times better than Betty Davis Eyes. One of my favorites - thanks for posting the video!

  • yes me too I had that feeling

  • i worked as a call boy in NYC .... this video brings those same memories for me... but i kinda like the chills mmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Talk about a video that brings flashbacks! I haven't seen this one since, like late 1983. I was working for NYC at the time and went on hundreds of calls to places like those. It just sends chills.

  • There was a book I had bought around 1985 about Music Videos...and it listed ten best and ten worst....well this was listed under ten worst...why? Too violent!! Which is strange considering Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" is more violent and raw. Always loved this song though!

  • @aramanth It was the early 80's. As another commenter posted, quoting Kim in an interview, it was a less open time with that kind of thing back then.

  • "I had a video off my Voyeur album - was the title cut, 'Voyeur.' And MTV I think had been in existence maybe a year, year-and-a-half, and it was very different then as far as what they show now. And 'Voyeur,' they would only show at night, like, after a certain time. There was a little bit of a violent scene in the video, and by today's standarts, it would be nothing, but back then - imagine MTV censoring something. It's - but they did."- she confessed to Ken Paulson (2003).

  • Kim looks great in a corset, I think. And since this video is directed by Russell Mulcahy, he reused a couple of motifs from a couple of other videos, namely the white horse in the fog (Ultravox's "Vienna") and the ninjas which come from out of nowhere (Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart").

    -MINESWEEP

  • I agree with you. That's why he is one of the best directors in the 1980s. We need him back doing videos after he's done making movies.

  • @MINESWEEP2k I am looking and seeing how many well-known videos Russell directed. I hadn't ever known! Cool. :)

  • It's a shame Voyeur, barking and cafe racers had so little attention at the time (but voyeur was nominated for a grammy, did not win)

  • Love that whole album - Bon Voyage is such a great song- that was a great album! Thank you for the info.

  • Totally! Great album. One of the best of 80's synth pop.

  • I love this album - anyone have video for Kim Carnes' BON VOYAGE?

  • I don't think she made a video for bon voyage.

The video she made from barking at airplanes were crazy in the night and abadabadango as far as i know.
