  • I like to lisen civ music while driving, it keeps padestrians safe :D

  • Did you know that this was one of Mozart's favourite pieces. As a child, he heard it a concert and wanted the sheet music, but the officials denied it. So he ran home and wrote the whole piece from memory, note perfect. :)

  • @Eamesam

Mozart was, indeed, a musical genius.

  • when this song comes out right after a heavy war with your neighbor you feel the king of the world but also a small weak man looking at all the unexplored land on the map and fearing powerful nations at the other side of the ocean :S

  • that woman with high voice is so gorgeous that it gives me some goosepumps..

  • This was recently featured in Shane Meadows This is England 88, after watching I played CIV iv and trashed the French =)

  • This must be one of the few videos where people have brought up their religion in the comments without anyone talking trash afterwards. CIV-players FTW

  • all the religions.... always win by culture, easiest way

  • @Robertjordan27 Spread ALL the Religions!

  • @Andalucia727 Spead ALL the religions? :'(

  • I am a Muslim,but I still love this piece of music....

  • @janissaruy

Oh no, don't worry, any talk of religion for this video was pertaining to what religion found within the game. Some people just tend to pick one religion when ever they can.

Such as me: I pick Taoism! Why?... I have no damn clue.

  • @Grahckheuhl Because you are the first to get philosophy? :P

  • @Grahckheuhl I actually tend to go without religions in single-player games... Keeps dem' religious folks off me back for quite a while. :P

  • @balex0

I only do that if I get a leader that doesn't start as 'spiritual'. The money you can get from founding a religion is just too much of an advantage to pass up in my eyes.

  • @janissaruy I'm an atheist, but I love arab music.

  • BTW if you have a game, than you can find soundtrack in folder \Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack"

  • where can I download this? It's absolutely fantastic but I can't find it anywhere...

  • @0miaumiau

It should be somewhere for sale.

  • @0miaumiau YOu can find all the SOundtrack files in the civ 4 directory just grab em from there

  • Legend has it that this piece of music was played in the Vatican, composed by a priest/monk and the scoring of the music was forbidden . At age 16 Amadeus W Mozart head it there during his trip to Italy and from ear recorded the master piece revealing also his own amazing talent . Imho, such music should be world spread just as the good faith ! =)

  • The medieval era music in civ 4 inspires me to convert to Christianity and fanatically spread it. With such music, I just can't tolerate other religion than Christianity.

  • @helpermethod

    Taoism all the way brah.

  • @Grahckheuhl

    All the "way"... get it?

  • @jwprice89

    Bow chicka bow wow

  • @helpermethod the way, the truth!!

  • The Civilization IV soundtrack is without a doubt the best soundtrack to any game I've ever played.

  • @AlexanderRozhenko

Mostly due to the fact that it uses songs from world-renowned composers throughout history.

If anything I'd have to give the 'best soundtrack' award to Okami, at least if going by original pieces.

  • @Grahckheuhl That was kind of my point about why its best soundtrack.

  • @AlexanderRozhenko

Well that completely flew over my head! xD

  • @Grahckheuhl Lol. :)

  • the voice at 5:14 and all the other occasions is sooo beautiful, it allways gets to me man, this brings back so much memories.

  • no words needed .. its only great! good that of this stupid world full of rap and other fast forgetable songs some ppl exist who knows what the time will overlife ... music like this remarks our civilization .. this is history (and sure some others) ;)

  • Maudite misère ! ahahaha J'aime cette chanson !

  • @siryuke

It is quite a nice song, isn't it? ^.=.^

  • this takes me back to Civ 3. I invested my childhood on that and now, because of that, I went to the Middle School State Geography Bee and missed the Top 10 by 1 question. I thank Civilization 3, the best game in the world.

  • wow.. I get flashbacks of my childhood when I hear this song, very emotional.

  • thx for uploading all this great civ sounds!!!

    one of my favourite!

  • lol, how have I never heard of this guy???? I thought it was palestrina. Who is performing it? I want to say the Tallis Scholars but I highly doubt that Tessa Bonner is the soprano here.

  • @jazzpsalti as far as I know this is a boys choir, it may be the Kings College Chapel Choir...they have a video of them on YouTube... that version is almost identical to the Civ version.

  • @einarkm I looked it up actually it was done by The Sixteen

  • @jazzpsalti

That may be who played it, but it is not who composed it.

  • @Grahckheuhl LOL you just made my day

  • @jazzpsalti This doesn't sound like The Sixteen to me. They usually record in bigger, more reverberant rooms than this, stand farther from the mics and take a slower, more laid back approach. But I could be wrong, and I don't know who *did* record this version.

  • @joshuahab lol as I said... I looked it up, and it's the Sixteen...

  • @jazzpsalti Sorry, I thought maybe you meant you looked up that the Sixteen have a recording of this piece, but I didn't know if you had checked about this recording in particular. Weird. They don't sound like this anymore. They have a newer recording of this piece which is much better (just search YouTube for "miserere sixteen").

  • My favourite song in the game!

  • How can the Lord not be merciful upon us hearing this timeless, all-transcending masterpiece.

  • I don't know why they put this in Civilization 4. It's such a beautiful piece of music it's hard to concentrate on the game.

  • @bicsmokescrack That's probably the point. Makes it so that you mess up somewhere and the computer can take advantage of every turn you don't think about. =p

  • @Grahckheuhl Well, as they say, we only reincarnate once but not twice ...

  • @bicsmokescrack: Haha, I know what you mean. When this track starts, I always stop and listen until it's finished at least once. I also stay around at the main screen to listen to the main theme. :D

  • Choix

  • @bollocake Oui
