I really want to visit this place but communication is the biggest problem considering that most of them speak Greenlandic or am I wrong & people do know English!
@wodanowitz Gas: extremely low, compared to the rest of the world, because of a political arrangement in order to maintain the hunting for the ones making a living of hunting in Greenland. They have to use boats, snowmobiles etc. to go hunting.
Food: The products that have to be flown in from outside Greenland are of course very expensive because of the transportation costs. Products that are shipped are maybe very similar to IS & NO.
@wodanowitz But when a whole country can survive, even though it's expensive compared to other places in the world - so can you! Come to visit Nuuk!! :D
@ivalunuuk haha, not as in conquering nature, but like building houses on part of the land and living in isolation without anyone knowing. is that possible?
@jsD02 lol, THAT you can ! ;) There's a urban(ancient) myth that goes, that people actually do that. Live fully isolated out in no man's land, surviving as a mere human being! ö You could become that ;)
@sunslap It is not so random acutally. Inn fact it is a great place to go for nature, whale watching and so forth../ but I would only recommend the smmer, unless you really like snow.
Ive been to this cafe last year on my trip to Nuun it was very cosy and there was an internet cafe upstairs. Had my cake and coffee before walking another 20 min to the ship going to Illulisat. It took 48 hours through the rough waves of the atlantic and amaaaaazing sceneries. Greenland is BEAUTIFUL :))
I gotta go to Greenland one day, and maybe start living there for the rest of my life! Hmm... Getting to Greenland from Poland (Central/Eastern Europe) isn't that hard :]
From the US, go to Iceland or Copenhagen. Then take Air Greenland to Greenland. You can use Air Greenland or other transportation to get to other places within Greenland.
you can fly to keflavik in iceland, there is an international airport. icelandair flies there from usa. then, take a bus to reykjavik (some 50 kms), there is reykjavik airport and from this airport you can take air iceland or atlantic airways to gronland. check those airlines in wikipedia.
Greenland seems like such a fascinating and interesting place to live or visit! Over the years, I talked to several Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators there. I would love to visit one day, if time and/or health permits...
Don´t worry about your spanish, because nor my english is very good. Well, I wrote literally: "I had never seen people of Greenland. Amazing. Very interesting." So, I knew that people live in Greenland, but just I never seen a video from greenland people.
You know, I think is great the big diversity of people and cultures that exist in the planet. I never stop of surprise me of that.
Are there any prostitutes in Nuuk? And what if I want to get some marihuana?

greenland is so huge and the people are few, makes me wonder if i could just fly into parts of the island and conquer the land w/o anyone knowing..

@jsD02 You'd be conquering nature - and nature cannot be conquered, nature is it's own.
So go ahead and try ;)
