Mt. Soledad was only made a veterans memorial after the cross was challenged as unconstitutional. Second, not all vets who fought and died are Christians, so a more universal symbol should be used.
I have a huge problem with this gigantic Christian advertisement. Contrary to popular belief, this cross does not fairly represent a valid War Memorial because the premise that constitute its origin lack reliable data. Christians believe that this cross is a symbol of sacrifice but that is just one side of the coin. To me, it is a symbol of torture, despair and hopelessness and should not be allowed to deface public property.
Many people actually believe the "myth of separation" Its been widely spread by the media and schools for many years. Repeated so much, that people now believe it.
It began in 1947 when radical judges began a new interpretation of a letter by Jefferson. They ruled that "separation" would be the new standard, and cited ZERO legal precedents. (how could they find a precedent, there were NONE)
Prior to 1947, church/state were mixed often, for >150 years. Anyone can research and find the truth
How about we put up an american flag if its really a "war memorial"? My grandfather didn't get shot in WWII to save the cross, he did it for his country. The war memorial is a mockery as it was a couple half assed plaques put up around the already existing cross. Since it is public land, the cross is offensive to all non Christians.
We people need to be more tolerant of the various faiths putting various symbols and memorials up. I'm a Christian and my step son is a Muslim and we respect each others beliefs and standards. Don't we have more Important things to worry about and do!!

Eunice made one good point, another sort of good point, but then buried her argument in exaggeration that made no appeal to law but a plea to a slippery slope that bare no reflection to reality or legal argument.
Morgan only put the argument into the an applied context of the reasoning behind the separation cause but did almost nothing to discuss the legal appeal of the argument.
The lawyers did a better job of framing the legal issues & based on that I think the courts made the right call.
morgan gays is trying to appeal for a sobfest by minorities about a supposed validity of the inane idea that the cross is somehow a symbol of intolerance. He is a typical socialist asshat that seeks to wrench away constitutionally respected freedom to display all relgious symbols, a reactionary fanatic bitch.
No matter how many crosses they put up here on Earth, their magic man will always resort to hiding in the sky, and in their minds.

An off-shoot I guess. Certainly because not all veterans were Christians.

i have an idea!
let's let EVERYONE, of EVERY faith, put religious symbols ANYWHERE!
that wouldn't work very well...
the cross is, WITHOUT QUESTION, a symbol, of the christian faith.
what would christians think, if muslims put a cresent moon next to the cross?
would they be ok with it, or would they whine and complin like a bunch of idiots?
please stop trying to force your beliefs on people...
