Beneath it's sort of "ecchi" like layer (big tits and ass), mediocre action and weak plot, there was actually a heartwarming (and from this episode, sad) story about motherly love, and how a mother would do anything for their child (blood related or not). I really was expecting this anime to be simply crap, but I admit it: this show pulled on my heart strings pretty well.
When I watched the first episode of Witchblade, I honestly did not expect to fall in love with it this much. The story was so well written. And good move playing the original theme song for the final episode. Much love to ~Witchblade~
I was just thinking of something...when Aoi is screaming "Omae nanka!" at Masane, I could swear it meant, "How dare you!" and not, "Damn you!" ...but ah well, they're the professionals I guess.

The original is an American comic... it's way different and complicated in an way this could never be... But the manga even comes after Masane dies, the previous wearer is supposed to be the American one... And supposedly Rihoko never encounters it again, but the WitchBlade survives... It's sad that it kills it's wearer... Masane should've lived...

@jcsreal Are you sure you watched this series?? They didn't 'offer' the Witchblade to her. The Witchblade suddenly caused the Great Quake and attached itself onto Masane. What Douji did was give her a job to take out the Ex-cons. They didn't appear to know where the Witchblade was until the beginning of the series (if thats what you're refering to by "offered it to her").
@jcsreal They also said they were still researching how to take it off.. sure that may be referring to taking it off without amputating ... however when Masane tried to take it off herself, the Witchblade reacted since it knew it was in danger, and destroys whatever is threatening it.
Also Takayama probably offered to cut it off to force Masane to work for Douji. Having a right arm with the Witchblade seemed a lot better than not having a right arm at all, with some possible compensation.
Man this made me cry like a baby this is one of the greatest anime dealing with mother daughter relationship trying to protect her. And they dont have much animes like this!
Yes, she died at the end, but she did so to protect her child and keep the witchblade out of the wrong persons hands. She also made sure her child and the man she loved got back together to form a family... And took out all those I-weapons as well. Yes, it is sad, but it can all be summoned up in the words "A Mothers' Love". And she did what she did because she loved her child.
I really wish she didnt have to die , i just wish they managed to get some way to get it off her hand.Seeing her survive and get back home to her daughter would have put me in a wonderful mood.instead now i have to stay away from this anime(along with chrono crusade which can also bring a grown man to his knees in tears)
I hope I have passion for a child like Masane does. I usually see anime's developed around love and finding a counter-part, but one based entirely around the love of a mother... yeah, it couldn't be any more perfect than that. Loving a partner can fade. Loving a child... limitless.
