  • Pause at 3:16 for a nice juicy pimple

  • @Snipza

    oh thats just mean dude

  • i have a phenom II X4 970 at 4 GHz still with stock heatsink at 69°C maximum! (with 2 server case fans wich are loud)

  • YOUR HAIR 0.o

  • i have a i7 2600 and a gtx 560 ti, at full load (both gpu and cpu 100% maxed out) the cpu gets about 60 at max, and the gpu 70 max =D

  • @basbas63 I got a 560ti but can't find software to read temperature, what do you use?

  • @LEW1S1900 you can use msi afterburner to see it or GPU-Z and i bet there are a lot more free ware programs that can do it (=

  • @LEW1S1900 use Afterburner from the MSI website.

  • bring crappy computer to work, get it upgraded for free

  • this is the cases used for my work's checkout register computers...it's ugly.

  • lol, it went down to 69

  • what software are you using to get the tempertaures?

  • @alexgo4210 its coretemp. its what I use as well and it is AMAAAAAAAAZING!

  • @alexgo4210 use HWmonitor, much better :)

  • im running 4 GHz at about 32 degress...

  • @MRgamecontrol Same haha!

  • for a "high end PC", that video card your co-worker has looks kinda crappy lol

  • @analfabet123456789 Linus sed in the video that this PC is for Video Editing, and the important things in Video Editing is the RAM and the CPU you dont need that good of a video card.Just a good enough one so that it doesnt bottlenek the CPU.

  • @AeralHero oh yeah i guess i wasn't really paying attention to what he said . yeah i know you don't need a good video card for that haha .

  • is an AMD Phenom II x6 1100T at 40 degree idle ok? using a Corsair H80.

  • @Dayfoxx7000 erm i idle at about 40-45 on the stock cooler

  • @YatoshiHiku ya but at full load i only hit about 50, and less noise :) also my 1100T is OC slightly to 3.7ghz

  • @Dayfoxx7000 then ur going good. try to keep it lower than 65

  • @Dayfoxx7000 but what really matters in the load temp. anything less thn 65 is good

  • why blond?

  • @DeadlyVenom543 he's actually duke nukem

  • I solved the CPU heat management issues I had one summer in two ways. First, I took of the side panel, and when the CPU was doing video encoding, I would use a paddle to manually cool it for the hour or so it took to finish the task. Then I got a room fan, put it on the desk, pointed it at the case and never had heating problems again. No money was spent, no components were touched. That's real oldschool CPU heat management.

  • linus looks like a drug addict in this vid

  • @Gamea650 LMAO.

  • lol, the message box on the screen dances in time with the music

  • @xhadesprincessx What a peculiar observation.. well spotted, mate.

  • MY AMD Phenom II X6 with stock cooling is a 48C under load...

  • @WilliamSunmo under what load?

  • @awesomejpg all from gaming and stress tests, im gaming wow, skyrim and such games. also rugin benchmarks it never reaches over 55...

  • what cpu temperature program is he using?

  • @BradKnowsBest "core temp" is the name of the software.

  • it does the trick, but it isnt half ugly...

  • lol is that vista ??

  • Noctua.. great fans... HORRIBLE color..

  • Use flour and vegy oil for thermal paste replacement, awesome homebrew to keep the cpu cool on stock fan under extreme gaming or for whatever, you'll never hear the fan even kick up to higher rpm's, also works great with gpu heatsink(s). Couple of us gamergeeks were testing out and mixing products, and this by far is the best we seen, even with higher volts and clocking then stock. Highs hit 45 degrees max on cpu under major load and gpus hit 50 max with stock fan settings.

  • Am I the only person who really likes the Noctua colour scheme?

  • hmm no static band when you are changing components... You should know better Linus

  • that fan actually looks good in that case.

  • @MegaSnorken perhaps his room has no static. Our house doesn't. I do realise that even if you don't feel a static shock you can still damage the hardware; but that hasn't happened in this house... ever... since we bought it 20 years ago :P

  • @MegaSnorken he's said in previous videos he doesn't need to because there's a lot of moisture in the air where he is.

  • I love these old Techtips videos, better than the new ones.

  • i got a i7 2600k 3.4 oc to 4.4ghz at 44c at idle and 60c when i run prime95

  • PLAZ HELP SOMEONE!!!!! my amd phenom ii x4 970 is running at 44-50 degrees at idle!!! is this normal? cus i have a corsair h40 cooler and 2 coolermaster sickleflows at full speed

  • @gundam395 re-do thermal paste, i had the h50 on a q6600 and then a i3, idled at about 40c. I have since switched to the noctua nh-d14 and it dominates. i now idle on the hottest core 28c and when at max load no higher then 45c.

  • what is the program that open al the tabs to test the pc? tnx

  • @TheDiegoamatheus prime 95

  • @TheDiegoamatheus

    Its called virus.

  • My case is being Showcased!

  • The blue square on the screen is dancing on the music.

  • and ppl say intels never overheat i have an amd athlon 2 x3 450 rana and even while watching online tv, youtube and playing warcraft sitting in orgrimmar i still hit less than 50 degress.

  • No wonder its overheating on the desktop screen... Windows Vista -.-

  • :0

Linus putting that $300+ dollar CPU to 80c with TJMAX set to 100c.... $.$.$linustechtips$.$.$

  • ok u started cheap whent higher but you stoped before liquid cooling

  • okay...if your having 100 c you have some issues...

im running a quad AMD fx. overclocked to 4.67 ghz and im still getting 40C

  • @gunraykilla i agree im running my i5 at 4.7 at 60 C :S but it is the voltage that makes it run warmer not the speed :)

  • what about high/low air throughput

Ie have high air intake speed on the front of the tower via 2x120 fans and slow output fans that will help wont it ???

Or try the other way round with Low air in front and High air out back to pull ambiant air out quicker.....

    Just a thought.

  • 70 c max

  • Try some Freon cooling! You will have -10*C inside the processor! How about that?!

  • Whats wrong with your eyes Linus ? :S

  • I have a 4.5 GHz running at 40 to 60 Celsius.

  • @4628JP You do know the year this video was made right?

  • @4628JP where can I buy a "4.5 GHz"?? :D

  • What is that program Linus used to measure the operating temperatures of the PC components?

  • I remember when 80 c was too hot.

  • In my country that Noctua is more expensive than the Antec 300...

  • 18 people didn't use an orange screwdriver

  • Great video. Thank you.

  • very poor "co-worker" work ...

  • hey dr whats up with your hair?

  • Yo dr.linus nice vids

  • So, I'm running a MineCraft server on a Athlon 64 X2 2.4 GHz with 4 gigs of ram in a diablotek elite case. I've never got over 61C even at the processors 100% maxed out. good airflow or processor is undeclocked?

  • @xXLuMiNuSXx cool story bro.

  • Linus, you forgot to install the case driver. But make sure you don't use the CD and get it off of the case manufacturers website! lol

  • you put some slits in the top of that case.

then you chase the plastic parts in the front part into screen or chicken wire.

the bore a hloe in the side panel and mount an electric fan.

VOILA!!! a 10yr old case with proper ventilation!!

(just put in mind that hot air always go up

    ------------

Works magic in a burning hot day (33ºC) in the Philippines

    in an unconditioned room (hot!!).

  • @taejamhaha I mean CHANGE, not "chase"

  • @hertzman5 I got an electric fan mounted on the case lols xD

    I could then overclock easily

  • @hertzman5 Dust does as-well right?

  • Hey!! Can anybody tell the optimal cpu temperature????

  • @tauheedmukhtar nothing higher than 70c when running blend on prime 95. Usually 40-50 on idle

  • @xAxisTechOFFICIAL I have an old pentium D945 on a intel d945gtp board....I got 75 C as maximum under full stress....and 55-58 on idle.......is it problem to deal with or ..can i ignore this difference?????

  • I am having a really bad time choosing my future CPU, which I am actually buying the next 2 weeks. The problem is I can't figure out if an Intel i7 2xxx works better than other i5 or i7 series on a P67 motherboard, the one that does not support the integrated graphics. Is it worth giving those money for 2xxx or I could get same or even better processing power from i7 8xx or 9xx let's say.

  • Forgot to mention that I am in favor of purchasing a separate graphics card and not using the Sandy Bridge integrated one. So this is basically the reason I am getting the P67.

  • He actually gets paid to build computers on camera... That's just awesome :D

  • Another classic tech tips style totourial video!

  • its surgery.. im gonna start calling linus "DR. Linus" i think it will stick anyone agree???

  • Uhm... The computer was on when he switched the cooler..?

  • Noctua....."Hey guys, let's make all our fans an ugly poop brown!"

  • @brego129 LOL.

  • hmmm...an "air 'fro" I think I want one of those, whatever they may be

  • Linus is a good sucking up guy. If i was him I'd never fix that guy's PC

  • Do I dare say that this is the ugliest case ever?

  • This video reminds me of the 1911 YouTube button. Why did they delete it? :(

  • Comment removed

  • new case... is has no frikkin cooling wtf D:

  • 100° CELSIUS? Seriously? I didn't know any CPU at all would be able to sustain those temps and still run, underclocked or not. My Phenom II X$ 975 doesn't even run with >62°C or it will perish in no time. I know the i7 architecture is as different as it is superior but that's impressive.

  • I wish i could do that, u actually know where to put the cables!

  • he looks a younger version of eminem

  • what happens if i run at 52 Con and i3 540 do i need a new cooler?

  • what program he use for checking the temperature?

  • @TheMcMichael15 he used "core temp". u can also use "speed fan", which would also let u control some fans

  • Can't you just leave the case open? O-o

  • @DaveDinnerDude controlled airflow is better than just leaving it open. Its like being in a wind tunnel compared to being outside, it feels cooler.

  • Noctua fans make me want to puke!

  • IM WATCHING A LINUS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have an Antec300 too and I noticed that taking the back fan off and putting it on the front blowing "in" is better

  • plasma screen...

  • guys, my i7 2600 is running at 38'c idle, IS THAT BAD OR GOOD?

  • @lilbesho that is so bad that you can hurt your i7 2600!

  • @AeroFix94 is that serious or you just missing around

  • @lilbesho messing around dude, 38 idle is very very good :)

  • @lilbesho depends on the cooler you are using

  • @aeroaa2 hyper 212+

  • this is smething like pimp my ride.. :P

  • I swear he can't count!

  • I'm pretty sure a PC normally turns itself off at those temperatures!

  • what monitoring program is that??? I WANT IT!!!!!!!! :D

  • @sciman001 I'm pretty sure it's CoreTemp.

  • AIR FRO!!!!

  • HA! suck it america, it's in celsius

  • You have a yellow hair...

  • Lose the earrings mate.

  • zalman 9500 or any of the upper 9000 series ftw. on airthat is. otherwise im not sure about liquid cooling yet.

  • that cooler is crap, hyper 212 should do the job

  • @sexking83 you have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @LordJummy of course i do, its really simple, it obstructs airflow of the case... other heatsinks like hyper 212 directs better air inside the case..

  • @sexking83 lol. you're funny.

  • @LordJummy Actually, he's right. That cooler in the vid blows down (TOWARDS THE CPU?!) and messes with the general aiirflow of the case. A Hyper 212 will drop this build (in the video) around 10-15 degrees just by blowing the air into a more suitable location (like the top fan or the upper rear fan to be exhausted)

  • GEEZUS! My AMD 1100T tops itself at 68 degrees! I guess Intel and AMD are really far apart lol.

  • @DotyDesigns

my e8400 never goes higher than 55'c under load and its about 30'c on idle. ive got rather cheap cpu cooler.

  • @Mastermind12358 I mean like my AMD will stop working at 68 degrees haha. Mine never reaches over 45 degrees even for overnight 3D rendering.

  • @DotyDesigns

wow that a low temp D:

  • @DotyDesigns That's actually a little higher than comfortable temps for a Thuban processor.

  • @RaVeN19Dizzle I know. My CPU has never reached higher than 48 C. I am saying it tops out as in fails at 68.

  • Does the Antec Three Hundred preform better compared to the Cooler Master Enforcer?

  • what software are u using to check temp?

  • @Dirik619 Real Temp, it only works with Intel CPUs

  • @Dirik619 CoreTemp is actually what he used. I use it too. You can even make it go into the task bar.

  • OMG!! linus forgot to clean the thermal paste off the cpu!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have the illusion version of that case with a case fan installed on the side blowing air onto my radeon 6870, it only reaches tepms of about 40c but the air out of the top fan feels much warmer than room temp, however the air out the rear fan does not. Is there anything I should be concerned about here? This is when running at full load btw.

  • @blakrhinofilms i wouldn't worry about it because hot air rises (as you should be aware of) so quite normal. same thing with me as well.

  • last chance Asian women need to meet you lushfmlk.info

  • @He101A celcius

  • @He101A celcius

  • 100 c. you just need a liquid nitrogen.

  • @turtlecat77 a liquid nitrogen what?

  • @turtlecat77 Nitrogen, HA, Liquid helium is the way to go.

  • @Addictedgamer1 PSHH, Put the thing on pluto.

    Ultimate cooling right there.

  • @axerer6 Good idea.

  • I have the illusion version of that antec case and it really nice but kinda small

  • when his co-worker came back the next day he was probably like "wtf happened to my computer?!"

  • @drew700boo He was like,"Its no HAWT anymore!"

  • How come my d14 is installed differently?

  • his hairs blond!!!

  • the engineering sample fan is awsome O.O

do they sell it sepratly ??

  • I have that same case and I <3 it so much!

  • @mrbisshie yey have the same case..still waitng on my mobo to be delivered tho

  • Is it me or does linus have a new hairstyle in every episode :P

  • hi Linus.

I have a issue with my slight ancient labtop. its an HP runing vista.

    geforce 9800 512mb

    intel dual core 2,56ghz

    4gb ram

    2x 250gb hard drives.

When i run starcraft 2 absolut lowest settings it will run at 24fps doing 98c and drop to 1-4 fps in any major battle where high fps is extremly needed. i have experianced alot of random shut downs when it gets too hot. it will do a shut down on left 4 dead 2 , team fortress 2 and starcraft. which all is put on pretty low settings. help.

  • @igrowweedfromaseed Perhaps your cooler wasn't installed properly. If it is a laptop you are going to have a extremely hard time :S

Perhaps your thermal grease is bad... Btw Windows Vista doesn't help. My Fujitsu ran Windows 7 cooler than Vista, though not by much....

  • @igrowweedfromaseed Have you ever cleaned the fan? Also you may need to make sure your notebook is getting enough air so as not to suffocate it or block any air exits. You also might consider a purchasing a cooling pad.

  • @igrowweedfromaseed

    hey man ...

try blowing compressed air on your fan under your laptop ..make sure to blow both the heatsink (coming from the side) and the fan until the dust has finished coming out

  • why didnt he do a rewiev on the antec 300?

  • Initially he said from cheapest to the most expensive. Eh.. Doesn't the Noctua ($80ish) cost more than the Antec 300 case? ($60ish)

  • those temps are still crazy hot....

  • @NIMHFS Not really, its under average. The most my notebook(which I use for gaming) is an i3 330m with the built in graphics as intel always does.. but at max it reaches 80-82 ish. For a notebook thats pretty hot. For a desktop thats average-regular.

  • @FaLsEiNqUiSiTiOn

weird. my q9650 idles around 30c and hits around 45c under full load/stress test. Nothing special is cooling it either, just a coolermaster gemini s and an inwin dragon slayer case.

I figured the newer i3 would run cooler.
