I agree, this is the best LIghtning Mcqueen cake i have seen as well. wow...this looks like real. The carving is amazing. I so love it. Love the color. Which fondant do u use? the fondant is smooth like crazy,.....Oh how I wanna make one for my son, but I am too scared to spoil it. U should do a tutorial of how to curve car cakes.

@PurthePoohBear Thanks Purbasha! I was a little apprehensive when they asked for a car cake but I'm glad I took it on now! I took photos while I did some of it to help me remember how I did it - am so glad I did as I've forgotten half of it by now! I might make it into a little how to video when i get the time. You should do it for your son one day! -Dont worry about spoiling it - you'll never know how you'll go until you try -I'm glad I did. Take care and all the best with your new baby boy ; )

@PurthePoohBear Oh and I use store bought fondant in Sydney Australia called Pettinence Icing (brand by Bakels). I smooth out my fondant by rubbing or buffing the covered cake with a big blob or ball of fondant in my hand. The 2 fondant surface rub against each other to smooth out any lumps/bumps & makes the finish really smooth. I dont use any smoothers just this method - smoothers are usually flat anyway so I wouldn't be able to use them on a cake like this. Hope that helps; )

@nivia91 No sweetie I did this all by free hand - no template - just guess work by looking at a photo ; )
