Well, I was Link a few years ago (not that many coz, I'm still young!) I used to be like I'm so proud that I don't spend as much as my brother, my parents money mostly. I only bought what I needed! Then, I turned 17 and before that I had worked a year earlier too, after I got my first pay check, I was so happy, I spent it more freely, not crazy yet! But like I said, 17, I earned more money and I went crazy! Like Rhett. People should learn by now, not to give me free/a lot of money (they haven't)

Here's how it is with me: I'll see a commercial or a trailer for the 1st time & I'll b like that's stupid I don't want to see or buy that! Then the commercial/trailer will continue to come on as I watch my show & then by the time I've watched 2 shows I start to want 2 see the movie or buy the product! Now here r my favorites :

I don't like ads. For starters I don't have much money to buy anything and I don't like cars or have a need for a new phone or whatever. Most things I eat or buy I have either been interested in it since a kid or I see it at the store and go "oh hey I like those flavors or oh hey I like video games" and I might try it out. And there are some commercials I absolutely love but I don't run out to get whatever they're trying to sell me.

Food-centric commercials just make me want to eat food. Like if I see an ad for Caramilk (one of those ads where they do close-ups of melted chocolate & stuff like that), I WILL want chocolate, & if I see a hamburger commercial, I WILL want a sandwich. I don't want the specific product being advertised, but I sure do raid my fridge afterward.

I think I'm sort of in the middle. If I see a REALLY good ad for a different brand of a product I already use, I'll try the other brand the next time I need said product (ie. the Old Spice Guy influenced me to buy Old Spice for my boyfriend instead of... whatever I was buying before). If I just see a pretty good ad & am somewhat convinced, I pick up on it right away & refuse to buy that thing on principle. It's weird.

Contrary to popular belief, and Rhett notwithstanding, commercials aren't designed to sell you something. They are designed to make you remember them, when you're out there and have a choice to make, hoping their ad will be remembered more strongly (not necessarily favorably)

Okay, so I just moved to California this month, before that I lived in Alexandria Egypt my whole life. I've watched so many ads, about so many things, I've heard you youtube people talking about all kinds of stuff, including your gatherings.

I think I have developed a switch in my brain for when the things I'm seeing or hearing about are not avilable in my country. I don't feel sad about it, and I just think: that sounds like fun. This switch still works even now.

I think in n out has it right. the best advertizing is word of mouth. They also stay the same and never have big flashy signs on their windows yet there is always a line when I go. No advertising is sometimes the best advertising in the correct circumstances.

I have seen many advertisements, and I must say I have had moments like Rhett, where I just really want to go buy that thing, and I have had moments like Link, where I want to resist buying whatever it is, just because of advertising. But now, after thinking about it, when I see an advertisement, I think to myself, "This is a product that someone made, and they think that it's really great and they are telling me about it with this advertisement," and then I consider if it's something I want.

I see a commercial and automatically go into this cynical critic mode, like, "You want me to buy this you better show me why". And usually I won't buy the product, but honestly if I see a commercial that I makes me laugh REALLY hard, or if I personally connect to it or just thought was really well done and well thought out, I will go and buy it. Not because of the product, but because of the commercial, to support people being creative in the ways they put their work out there.
