Dude wtf it's not a sick or morbid song. That stupid movie made people think it was. Well that was the awful TT version and doesn't count as a song. Lol it's just a love song from the late 20's.
Since insidious is a crappy horror movie that does not scare at all and uses the same old tricks, this is a totally relaxing song to me even after seeing it.
@realmsofabhorrence out of all th ehorror movies that have come out. It's the best horror movie that I've seen in a while. Nothing will surpass rosemaries baby to me. But the first half of the movie is better than the second half. The director and the writer have a lot of potential. They made the first saw which was th eonly good saw and dead silence which sucked ass but they finally got it right with insidious. You have to give them props for not remaking the blob because there sick of remakes
if you raise any song up in pitch and add an assload of reverb its going to sound creepy. Just listen to the song. im pretty sure tiptoeing through tulips is the FURTHEST thing from being scary.
@Kaneownzu - Originally, yes he performed it in the Warner Bros 1929 film GOLD DIGGERS OF BROADWAY. He recorded it for the Brunswick record label May 9, 1929, his biggest selling record of all, with sells from the Brunswick 78 going over the three million mark.
I think it's fine if people discovered this song through Insidious. After all, Tiny Tim liked paying homage to and bringing back older, classic tunes. And the fact that this song was in a film not too long ago shows how timeless it is. People should just stop saying that this song is "scary" now. The song isn't scary, the imagery from the film you probably still associate it with might be scary to you. But you can still appreciate the song.
i like Chevalier version honestly.... but my favorite actually is Tiny Tim... and yes insidious made it freaky but you must admit tiny tim always had a bit of the creepyness in him... nontheless gr8 musician
I wish they made a time machine already i hate the society now i love the what i call The War Years i wish i was there i call the people now retarded but well im 14 so i cant know any better
Okay can we please get over the fact tiny tim's rendition was in Insidious, Both versions are good for their own reasons. but saying that you heard of this song because of insidious is like saying you discovered the Cthulhu Mythos because of The Coon episodes of southpark.
If i didnt saw the movie Insidious and hear this song or the one by Tiny Tim, maybe it wouldnt be too bad or creepy, but no its Creepy now! but catchy(:
Such a great song. I'm trying to learn it on ukulele... but now I'm concerned because all of this ridiculous Insidious junk. Dang, way to ruin a great song for my generation.
Remember, this is a song that harkens to a time long gone... It has nothing to do with Tiny Tim... So for those of us who remember, or choose to study the the time period, it's an interesting, and even touching, moment. Try to open your mind... Thanks - -
I heard Tiny Tim sing this then i heard this, He sounds nice, But i love the Tiny tim Version better ^^ its just so fun when Tiny tim sings, But this is very good ^^ I agree that this song's Version is what you'd sing to a girl, But Tiny's is fun and upbeat :)
@jimkanuk TIny Tim's high octave voice isn't intended as singing as a woman, it's just singing at a high octave. On his wikipedia page it mentions he learned to play the ukelele and sing, and realized one day he could sing quit highly, and when he does he gets more attention positive, than he did for singing normally. Interesting stuff there.
I absolutley love the way he recreates his scene from The Gold Diggers of Broadway! I wonder if the film had been lost by this time? We are so lucky that this scene from the movie was discovered!
I did a monolgue about a woman driving in her car who hit another woman who was riding her bicycle, all while listening to this song. Thank you for putting up this video, it helped me act out the piece well

didn't even know there was a decent version of this song, tiny tim killed it, yet i think was responsible for making the song "refamous" for future generations, lol. dig the guitar playing--that was very early on to have someone featured as a singer AND a guitar player on a show.

scary because it's old it brings mysteries in the future.rawrrrr,..

It's the higher octave that Tiny Tim uses that adds that "creepy pedo" vibe to it.

I met Nick Lucas at the Mayfair Music Hall in Santa Monica in May 1974.
I was playing the Scots Lowland Pipes, the Piano Accordion, and the
Irish "Uilleann" Pipes, accompanied by my Fiddler, Dave Gussett.
We followed Nick in the bill. He sang "Tulips" then intro-ed us as
"A Couple of Young Irish Lads". I'll never forget it !
RIP Nick Lucas, You were GREAT !!!
