  • @bzulqarni

Was K C Dey father of Manna Dey?

  • Thanks for posting this song. The picturisation is so apt. I'm going to try to get the movie.

  • There's another hit in this movie ( Dharthi Matha-1938) Sung by Uma Shashi and Saigal " Manaki batha bathao...." . Can any one upload that song as well. Uma Devi's voice is superb. Any one knows what happened to her/ She has featured only a few productions suchas Chandidas (1934), Dhoop Chaon (1935), Anath Ashram (1937) and Dharti Matha (1938). What caused her early retirement? Can anyone plz reply to this.Thanx a lot

  • This is not Tuntun (Uma Shashi). Tun Tun first sang in 1947, this song is from 1935.

  • All time classic. KLS is superb

  • WONDERFUL COMBINATION

  • A rare gem, could u please upload man ki baat batavu, from this film?

  • k.c.day,saigal saab and uma shashi[tuntun] made this song unfurgatable.

  • This is not Tuntun (Uma Devi). Tuntun made her debut in 1947, this song is from 1935.

  • @bmurthy the singer is umadevi alias tuntun. umadevi entered in filmworld as a singer and her name was umadevi. she sung song of film dard i.e. afsana likh rahi huen .. in the name of umadevi under md. naushad.. i met tuntun in 1966 and have a chance to listen these songs in her voice.

  • @durlabhpkolhe - the female actress and the singer in this song is Uma Sashi and not Uma Devi, as you rightly said was later known as Tuntun. I know for sure as the director of this film, Nitin Bose happens to be my maternal grandfather.

  • Its so beatiful and nostalgic!!! It reminds me of my boyhood back during early 1940's. I watched the movie in Moshi, Tanganyika with my now deceased two elder brothers. I would do anything to get that joyfult life back!!

  • Timeless... Thanks.

  • Timeless, indeed. There is minimal orchestral adornment because the three voices don't need much of that. They can convey all the sweetness essentially on their own. Thanks for the forward, Mirzaji.

  • fabulous

  • I have no words to express my deep love for this song ! It always moves me to tears! Observe the the technique of the verses overlapping each other ! It was unique,I am seeing the video for the d first time ! It is quite sharp and good. God bless you ! NRI from Los Angels.

  • Bundle of thanks for posting this great video of three greats and great singers of all time.Nothing artificial ,Pure and true.Excellent.

  • Thanks for this gem.

  • K L Saigal - incomparable!!

  • the k c dey verse...

yeh duniya ek sundar bagiya shobha iski nyaari hai,har daali par jadoo chhaya har daali matvaali hai, adbhut panchhi phool manohar, kali kali chatkeeli baba.

and a correction to the uma shashi verse. the 4th line ends as "iski taan nasheeli baba".

  • a small correction if I may -

is ki taan RASEELI , baba

  • thank you so much for uploading such lovely songs. Thank you.

  • duniya rang rangili baaba, duniya rang rangili kadam kadam par aasha apana ruup anuup dikhaati hai - 2 bigade kaaj banaati hai, dhiraj ke git sunaati hai - 2 isaka sur misri se mitha isake taar sajili baaba duniya rang rangili duniya rang rangili baaba, duniya rang rangili duhkh ki nadiya jivan naiya aasha ke patavaar lage - 2 o naiya ke khene vaale - 2 naiya teri paar lage, paar basat hai desh sunahara kismat chhail-chhabili baaba duniya rang rangili

    G K Iyer

  • wonderful wah wah

  • this song has reminded me of my teen age, when the announcer from radio celone used to say karya kiram ke antt mein hamesha ki tarah sunye kl sehgal ko. n like many sehgals songs, this song used to b played after [sardi bukhar ho ya zukam aspro deta hay aram sar ka dard mitata hay dard badan ka jata hay aspro lelo lelo aspro lelo]

  • A very rare and beautiful video

  • Heartfelt thanks........I've heard this song after a very long time, and had never seen it picturised.......brings tears of nostalgia to one's eyes.

  • thank you for sharing this one. the singers, the composers; they were all great. Khush rahein.

  • The singers are Pankaj Mullick, Uma Shashi, and Saigal. This song is the national song for all the New Theatres fans. Growing up I heard all Pankaj Mullick and Saigal songs - my grandfather was a fan of all the new theatre singers and we heard him playing the 78 rpm records all day long. Yes, this is a mesmerizing song. A million thanks to the person who posted this video. I am trying to get this movie on Video or DVD but unable to find it.

  • mesmerising! will this type of songs ever be made again ?

  • No. The singer here Uma Shashi has nothing to do with Uma Devi who came much later.

  • very good song do you haveorther video pahadi / juthikaroy and k.c.dey ?piease post .all song again and again I see this video

  • I have heard this song many times but i am seeing it for the first time. The singers are K C Dey,Uma Devi(Tuntun) and K L Saigal. Are the actress and singer same. ie Is the actress Uma Devi? Thanks for posting this rare gem.

  • No. This singer actress is Uma Shashi (go to wikipedia) and has nothing to do with Tun Tun (Uma Devi) who came much later.

  • indeed duniya was rangili for them at that time...... sad that we were not present at that time..... excellent composition

  • This is indeed an excellent song!!! In the 78 rpm record , Pankaj Mullick sings instead of K.C.Dey. By the way, K.C.Dey was the uncle of Manna Dey.

  • Beautiful song, and incredible staging of the scene.

Let me join in the requests for more K C Dey posts!

  • Great song again and again I see this video. Do you have anything of Pahadi Sanyal? Please post.

  • K C Dey was indeed blind - apparently from flying kites into the sunshine. A poignant setting to a great song. There is no prancing around the swiss alps or some English country garden but an Indian porch. There is a wonderful stillness about this scene.

  • is kc dey blind?

  • Yes.

  • yes he is

  • This is one of the GREAT GREAT songs of India. Cherish all my love to the poster..keep posting more of these types. Of Kanan Devi, Saigal, Arun Kumar..and more...

  • Oh my God! I had never dreamed that I will be able to this Great Song. And here it is.

    I won Lottery!!!!

Thank you Thank you Thank you Musique4ever & YouTube.

The super Stars K.L. Saigal & K.C.Dey(Manna Dey's Uncle) & Music Pankaj Mallick.

  • I did not know he was Manna Dey's uncle. Thanks for the info. Like you said I never thought I would see this. I am 65 and I used to listen this on old Gramaphone my grandpa had. Thanks Musique4ever and of course Youtube.

  • Class Class

  • Though I am from the present generation, but I grew up listening to the songs of Kundan Lal Saigal, K C Dey and Pankaj Mallick and I enjoy listening to these songs as much as any by Lata, Kishore, Rafi or Asha. Thanks a tonne for uploading these timeless gems from our past. Keep up the good job you are doing!!

  • god bless you dear !!! Thanks for posting.

  • If only my dad was here to see and hear this. Thank you so much musique4ever. Do you have any more of K C Dey. His voice was superb - some of his songs send shivers down your spine.

  • That makes two of us. I remembered my dad.. but!

a heart touching magic song. everyone is singing with that dedication.

  • You just made my day, month, year ... whatever I can think of. Please post more of KLS.

  • K C Dey, Uma Shashi and K L Saigal on themselves in Dharti Mata (1938). Pankaj Mullick's music; Pandit Sudarshan's lyrics.

  • This is a record breaking video. Saigal is at his best. Musique4ever, you are hereby awarded with the best contributor award. Thanks a TON for uploading this video.
