  • I would doubleleg takedown and ground n pound this queer so fast. MMA wrestling for the win!

  • @BrulesRules001 Is that some kind of Underground technique?

  • @50pushups Yes, it is very underground. There are events around America (top secret of course) were men combine martial arts and fight in a cage with limited rules. They call it MMA. Only they best forms of martial arts survived to evolve with the sport. From my training, i think a power doubleleg takedown followed up with ground and pound and good submission defense will bust his fucking face...

  • @BrulesRules001 Wow, dude. Angry? Did you notice all the rules in MMA? Without a doubt there is something to be drawn from any martial art. Most arts go far, far beyond the understanding of the average lay person.

  • noklarok: I have just reread my original comment again, & I now see why you may have taken offense on behalf of Cheng Man Ching. I may have given the wrong impression. The people telling the story were dedicated lineage students of Cheng Man Ching, admire him & the heritage he shared with Wm CC Chen. I admire & respect his work. The point of their story was simply that his form was so smooth that he had to slow it down for the video. I youtube very late at night & was tired. No dis intended.

  • my right ankle is handicapped. I cant put pressure on it due to a break few years ago. Is there a work around to do the steps when I cant put weight like this is showing on it?

  • i love it i practice it myself coz dey dont teach in my contry and ppl laugh whenevr i mention tai chi :S

  • they can laugh as they go to the old folks home and your walking down the road at 100

  • its a pity all the martial applications have been lost .

  • ah but thy havent been lost my friend....... check out heaven man earth taiji and you will see.

  • aha!!! i have this one... well, up to 1:43 a bit different but i recognize it

  • Well, the story I heard from one of Wm CC Chen's students is that when Cheng Man Ching was originally making his videos no one could really tell what he was doing, because it was so smooth and minimal. So they asked him to slow it down and make it much more obvious for people who would not be able to see it in person. So he did. And now people think that style he demonstrated in his videos is the real thing. Makes them all laugh. This video is a tutorial, folks, which makes a difference.

  • sounds like bullshit matey

for a start,, cheng man ching liked wearing long garbs to HIDE his hips. there are no vids where you can see his hips. So he didn't mind being secretive.

Also I have met Wolfe Lowenthal, a cheng man ching student. He spent many years studying with him. Do you think he forgot all the lessons he was given?

If anything it is the Chen tai chi that looks bullshit,, no-one keeps their spine upright. they are always tilting with the push.

  • your reply seems unnecessarily combative.

  • you said

"your reply seems unnecessarily combative. Should I bow in your general direction? We have had a different life experience and I am sharing mine. I doubt that either one of us can prove a thing. So what."

i am trying to help find the truth in what sounds like bullshit. and i dare say muck-spreading. why diss CMC? you diss cheng i'll diss chen. lies should be fought against.

    big up Ch'eng Man Ch'ing (r.i.p.)

  • I have no idea what you are talking about and I don't think it has much to do with what I said. I greatly admire Chen Man Ching. I admire internal martial arts. I don't come out to youtube to fight with people.

  • i may start taking tai chi lessons cause i have some problems with my knees and apparently it helps deal with the pain and over time listens it.

  • Beautiful form, flowing like silk!

  • quan4dummies

    nice movie

  • magnifique je suis contente de voir une vidéo de tai chi que je pratiqueMerci de me permettre de la voir

  • I feel a deep connection.

  • Well -- of course terms like "exaggerated" and "perfectly" mean one thing to one person and something else to another. But, clearly there are very different styles of performing tai chi. Just speaking for myself, we try to follow the form and style which was exemplified and taught by Prof. Cheng Man Ch'ing. There are videos of him on YouTube. If you compare that style with the gentleman in this video, clearly the latter is demonstrating a much different style of tai chi than that of Prof. Cheng.

  • can someone help me iam going to go back to martial arts soon but i dont know w hat style to do, and i need to train my body so iam ready for hours stances and stuff @.@

  • the person who said his forms are exaggerated is right in a way, as when beginning to learn tai chi, it is not recommended to extend the bodys weight too far forward past the knee. im not saying his form is wrong just certain aspects of it seem overdone, but this could be due to his experience more than anything else. instructors are only easier to learn from if its a one on one class your taking too.

  • estoy iniciando a incursionar en el tai chi. me parece sencillo y didactico. excelente. felicitaciones.

  • On Sundays from 5/11/08 -- 08/24/08 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Dr. Jiliang Liu will be hosting Free T'ai Chi seminars in New York City at Central Park's beautiful Turtle Pond, near the Delacorte Theater, in celebration for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This is a perfect opportunity to learn and practice T'ai Chi with a T'ai Chi master.

  • the simplest form I have seen is at

    taichi18(dot)com

its easy enough to learn from the video for free, and I have good results from it as well.

  • Agree. It's entertaining and the musical accompaniment is nice. But his form is highly exaggerated.

  • Yeah. He might be in competition.

  • is nothing exaggerated in that.

notice how he performs. he is doing it perfectly.

despite the fact that he make so " flexible" movements he is not even stretching his arms completely.

  • hi

i know a litlle about tai chi but i've got a question if you got panic atacks is that good to relax,,en to breath good??

    please respond

  • Yes, Tai Chi and Chi gung will help heal panic attacks. Do some more research about tai chi on a search engine (yahoo, google)

  • Don't do tai chi from a video, go out and find an instructor that knows what they are doing. Doing all of these pieces of form is a harder task than what it appears to be on the surface. I'd say these videos are good for reference videos at best, not instructional.

  • It's like learning karate from an instructional video. It's hard.

  • unbievable kicks mr! wow is all i say!

  • He`s like a robot!

  • Thank you ,You are great,I love Tai Chi and it

did help me with some of my forms that I been

    having problems

  • ahaha tiiighttt [;

    we're doing this for psychology

  • this person was champion in china. very good teather. I watched his 32 form tai chi sword dvd. and improved my skill, not only sword also tai chi quan. realy love his demond.

  • I've been taking Tai Chi at my work for over a year now. I know this entire form or steps. It is very relaxing and it makes you more aware of your surroundings and your body. I recommend Tai Chi to anyone, young or old :)

  • awebo taichiesmejor

  • the motions are slow in order to make you aware of your entire body movement. Thus if practiced enough you learn to use your entire body just to move your finger. The result is you become ambidextrous, and your mind gains greater creativity as your corpus callosum develops in response to your mastery of both sides of the body.

  • Absolutely beautiful! That man has incredible grace.

  • i want to lurn to kick some @ss

  • id suggest muaythai

  • i suggest Jeet kune do.

  • I suggest Tai Kwon Do.

  • I suggest Wing chun

  • I suggest going to your nearest redneck bar, having a few beers, and saying very loudly that "Johnny Cash was a faery". If you don't learn how to defend yourself pretty quickly there-after, well...it won't much matter. They won't leave much of you to defend.

Also, you might try picking up a dictionary while you're out.

  • Sweet! Nice one.

  • HAHAHA lmao

  • when i do ti chi i get frustrated move faster i cant do it slower but in time if i keep doing it slower will that improve my health?

and pins and needles in your body like energy flowing im i doing it right if i feel that?

  • You practice tai chi slow to learn to control ur chi and to build energy. Also its good for relieving stress and learning the forms correctly when practiced slow.

  • lol Waterbending.....

  • watch shaolin monks... airbending?

  • Awesome set. Especially "Wave hands like clouds"

  • Very good Tai Chi ! :)

  • which kind of dancing is this

what's the name of this dance

  • its not dancing, its tai chi, a style of kung fu.

  • Nice Dance good job

  • Very good control - love it

  • nice

  • noob

  • That isn't 'slow motion' it's real time, but hes just relaxed im sure.

  • can i also do this practicing my pinans slowly in kempo?

  • good 4 lumbago

  • good control

  • How wonderful, wish I could do it like that! We do the 24 form and that is hard enough. Thanks for great vidao.

  • Outstandin video, congratulations.

  • guys, most of you say that this is a martial art designed for combat, but that doesnt means that it cant be soft or stylish, besides, its supposed to move the energies of both your body and the universe, so what he's doing might be combat-able

  • ma questa cosa a cosa cazzo serve?

  • I am currently a student in Sun Tai Chi developed by Dr. Lam. Most of the students are senior citizens and we are members of the YMCA. The Tai Chi class is called Sun Tai Chi for Arthritis. Two of our members are on wheel chairs, but are able to walk for short periods of time. You might check with your local YMCA. The fee to use all of the facilities and take all classes is $75/family per month.

  • beautiful

  • when i saw (40 steps tai chi) i thought it would be easy to remember when practiced

  • try it really...u might like it

  • great, its real easy to copy someone with their back turned

  • how can i download this video to my computer?

  • if you have real player version 11 you can easily download this video.

  • I only know how to do it on Safari, but it is a Flv file and should play in any flash player. With iSquint it can be converted to an mp4.

First I would check with youtube to see how they feel about downloading files to your drive.

  • The guy looks like he's floating. Like he's walking on a cloud. It's impressive, especially that he seems so young when compared to other tai chi practionners who are usually well into their 40's.

  • so graceful,perfect form

  • When a fool sees the Tao, he laughs. Otherwise, it would not be the Tao

  • i was thinking exact the same thing,, cool

  • He's just insecure and unhappy with himself.

  • yeah his jammies are really neato!!

  • Bet it took you long to think that one up. If you think it's "gay-chi" then go think about that somewhere else, mmmkay?

  • Parfait pour bosser mon TAO. video sérieuse

  • dont watch tai chi if it bothers you.

  • Come on, tai chi is a deeper mind from within yourself,a greater understanding, but not all people can achieve that consentration ;)Nice video BTW

  • And you are stupid beyond all comparison. Seriously, I've seen some real idiots in my time, but you're one of the most idiotic.

  • it works

  • This is video tai chi. Stances too long and too low. Thats why the back leg has to be draged in to create "empty step". Good for athletes but not for normal people....

  • damn! because of tai chi I can´t find a german rapper ,called taichi!!!

but this vid is nice, too xD

  • thanks for posting this!

  • Thank you. You have greatly helped my inner tranquility.. but not as much as Jesus..

  • WOW! Jesus did Tai Chi?? I didn't know that.

  • haha...

  • like water baby

  • i heard tai chi is suppose to be the most powerful form of martial arts. is that true

  • well having the obility to lift things with your mind yes

  • Telekinesis ftw! XD

  • go to cragilist richmond you'll find a teacher

  • Depends on where you are. In Los Angeles one of the best for Chan Style is Sifu Qichen Guo. He is something like 12th generation Chen Stylist. There is also Sifu James Wing Woo. He's been teaching Yang Style for decades. Also is Sifu Bucksam Kong. He's a Hung Gar Master but also teaches Tai Chi from time-to-time. Prices will vary.

  • What are the differences in the styles you named: Yang Style or Chan Style? Are they fairly similar in basic style?

  • very similar but chan style includes a lot of stomping and faster movements while yang style is practiced much slower with softer movements. those are the differences I know anyways, im sure there's others.

  • Cant you just make this up?

  • Can someone tell me what song this is please??

  • So How much would one Tai Chi teacher cost??? in the states?

  • superb!

  • Interesting anti-macho fitness, like the music too.

  • Excellent video, great for new learners, thank you!!

  • About Performer: Master Si Tan Chen won two Tai Chi Championship (male) in International Wushu Competiton, gold medals in 11th Asian Game & 8th National Wushu Competition. To present, he won 32 gold medals in different events. He is being called "Prince of Tai Chi" in China and was being choosen as one of the hundred foremost wushu masters in China in 1995. He is now a committee member of Fujian Wushu Association.

  • I like your form, I rate it 5.

  • The greater aspect of Tai Chi is its empty mind. You have no thoughts, but are purely reflex and reaction. The style evolved and provide an exercise aspect to it. This doesn't diminish the fighting style, nor should it be confused with the fighting style. But, the exercise part does help. It teaches empty mind so you can sense strikes and react, rather than being hindered by the slow reaction of sight.

  • girl you looking fine

  • what is tai chi good for?

  • In a word... FIGHTING! You've got to find yourself a competent teacher though!

  • very graceful form, little faster than i expected. overall very nice though.

  • How is that exercise?

  • it is not an aerobic type of exercise. nor a muscle building type of exercise.but it does move a lot of joints and is good for golden aged senior with arthritis.young people learn this for martial art applications too.people like jet li and jackie chan.

  • twilight

  • twilight in bloom,

    moustache in night,

    too bad it's gine

  • this guy is very talented. i'm learning a more martial form of tai chi called qi gong tai chi and there are so many aspects of the movements to master

  • i am learning tai chi for arthritis.this is the same form taught at the community center except we don't touch our toes nor extend that far nor bend that low.we are all senior citizens. this guy looks so flexible.wish i was young again.thanks for the upload.now i can watch this over and over again.

  • i need to find something simpler to start with :P

  • how can I save video to my computer? anybody know?

  • this guys is very good his hook could be a bit tighter other then that he hace very good balance and motion

  • HOLY CRAP! that's JUST what my tai chi learned me!

    i know everything up to 1.42 :D

maybe i can get a head start on the rest of the guys in the group ;)

    thanks whoever uploaded this!

  • badass now i have a workout for sundays after meditating thankyou youtube!

  • The knees here are not really extended meaningfully past the toes. The feet are relaxed and flat on the ground at extension, he obviously is not stressing the ankle or the knee. In other words, some people can extend safely. Perfect technique is the perfect vehicle for chi/jing to flow, but if you have jing, technique takes a far second place .

  • After you have mastered your body, as he has, momentarily over extending of the knees is ok.

    Pratice pratice.

  • hey do you guys know who he is? he grabbed more national champs than any one else, and, he sucks

  • Time to learn Chinese then ;)

  • Oops. By "YOU" I only mean any beginner. Nothing personal! Basically I agree that this video is not very good for learning from, because you cannot imitate what he is doing. And it's not a style to really enjoy watching, either.

  • His form is great. Those critical are just unfamiliar with this style. He is not over-extending anything, either -- but YOU would be if you tried to extend such a distance. He can only correctly extend like that after years (decades) of practice.

  • Technically speaking the guys form is awful. His postures are over-extended, he leans, very little yin/yang movements in hands - mostly "dead" movements. The guy shows virtually no opening/closing during postures. Even if practised as a qigong, this is poor!

  • STFU for your own sake...who is to say his form is wrong? Just because your wannabe teacher at the YMCA does it differently, doesn't make his form correct.

  • What does a frog living in a pond know about life in the oceans! Your comments speak for themselves.

  • I can do that too: a man so small, he was bigger than himself. He will soon see that the mighty ant is far greater than the little elephant, and that his watch has stopped for it was going too fast :P

  • I think he knew that however the vidieo only allowsso much time to complete the form

  • this guy is a 5 time champion in international competition in the 5 times he competed. the judges are former champions too. so he knows what he is doing.

  • Here lies the problem... Tai Chi was developed for the battlefield NOT competition! Most modern practitioners totally lack or even practice this aspect & fail to understand the higher levels. That is why this once great art has been reduced to it's present shambles. The mastesr of old fought with their system not dance!

  • Taiji is an internal martail art! It is for overall health and happiness. It was made to maintain and build the body without destroying it like alot of hard forms of martial. At the sametime maintaining solid martial art applications. It may look like fluent dance but each movement tells a story of a battle being fought. The last I heard tai chi was still going strong. I hope one day I will achieve a mastery of the art like the practitioner above!

  • Good Luck if you want to be like the above! Taijiquan was NEVER invented for health & happiness, it was purely a combat art, getting healthy was just a side effect!!! Read the histories of Yang Luchan, Sun Lutang, Yang Shou ho & see if they emphasise health & happiness... I think not!!!!

  • But one of the greatest failures that I've noticed is that most martial artists leave their knees exposed during combat or in a bad position for a quick retreat. I won't go into it really but Tai Chi and Muay Thai are an excellent pair to mix... just thought you should know. It's fluidity meets destruction.

  • His knees are over-extended but not really that often. But when it comes to fighting applications Tai Chi's applications have always lied more in self deffense then offense in which case fluidity, hand-eye and adaptation are most important.

  • About Performer: Master Si Tan Chen won two Tai Chi Championship (male) in International Wushu Competiton, gold medals in 11th Asian Game & 8th National Wushu Competition. • Too much over-extension, which actually is a terrible mistake - taijiquan relies often on the over-extension of the opponent, so to do it yourself can be a bad thing. It doesn't really look like fighting applications are on the proponents mind when he is practising this - so it is just good looking qigong - but this could be all he wants out of it. Very flexible and balanced, though.

  • How do u get more flexible?? cuz everytime i try a high kick i fall on my ass..

  • The trick to kicking is to ensure that the leg which you used to support you is not stiff. The joint on the knee has to be relax.

  • I agree that this guy sucks. But just for your information, he has been a multiple champion for TaijiQuan and Jian during the 90s.

  • cool.. I don't have patient doing this though :(

  • stance and posture are not that great with this guy. And that`s what it`s all about folks....some chinese guy once said: If it looks good, it`s not kung fu. Meaning that the flashier it looks, the less correct or effective it is.

  • About Performer: Master Si Tan Chen won two Tai Chi Championship (male) in International Wushu Competiton, gold medals in 11th Asian Game & 8th National Wushu Competition. • winning medals and being named wushu master says enough. He is doing a form of tai chi made for shows and competitions. If you check the tai chi history you will find that this is a seperate form for demonstrations, not for actual effectiveness in combat. I prefer truely effective tai chi.

  • Hi do you know any videos from any website that show actual effective Tai Chi? I wish to learn, hope it would help my knee pain. Thanks a lot.

  • The best thing is to find a good Tai Chi teacher, one that you feel comfortable with. That means you will need to search. If you know people who are taking Tai Chi you could ask them. The kung fu grandmaster Ark Y. Wong was once asked if anyone could really learn from films. He said simply, "No." You need the personal contact and the immediate corrections.

  • i practise sun style and yang style tai chi - i would reccomend paul lam - just search in google he has a good informative website

  • Just saw a new post today tai chi for enlighteners...looks like not too much bending

  • Check out: tai chi for enlighteners, there's a link to her website and you can buy the program. Seems that this style would be great for your knees.

  • I will try, thanks a lot!

  • The body is stif

  • i really wanna learn this! any body can teach me???

  • formidable! amazing! super! keren abish!

  • Super!!

  • Recognizably Yang-style short form, but a lot softer and, um, more "rubbery" than how I practice... but that's what I get learning from a book by a Westerner!

But yeah, the knees are over extended, a sure way to hurt them (as I found out before correcting!).

  • Its not that amazing, its the short form and the dude breaks many basic prinicples that internal stylists take very seriously. In fact this is supposed to be healthy but if you do this with out principle you gonna end up with ruined knees and your arms pulled out of their sockets by real Tai Chi fighters. Not that healthy at all! Stick to the traditional long form and don't over extend or push your knees pass your toes.

  • agree with you on all counts. I have uploaded the same demonstation without knowing the existence of this one.
