I hate the kid leash. I have 3 children and I never once put them on a leash. If your child is bucking, pick them up. Parents need to stop being so damn lazy and actually take care of their children and teach them to walk with you so they don't need to be on a dog leash.
I have 5 children; 25, 24, 21, 15 and 7. NEVER put any of them on a leash. NEVER got called to school and none of them ever had so much as a detention. They got in trouble at home (rarely) and were spanked, and I've spanked my kids collectively 7 times in their lives. My kids know when we can play and when we can't. A leash teaches nothing! My children learned to walk with us, without a leash. LEASHES ARE FOR DOGS! A stroller, holding our hands, on our shoulders or backs etc.

I put my kids on leashes when they were younger (they're 8 and 12 now), but NOT because they were bad kids or unruly. I did it to protect them from human predators. I bought extra large dog harnesses and strapped them in before going out and would attach the leash to the back of the harness. And when they were babies, I chained their carseats to their strollers and tied the stroller to my belt. That way, if my babies went, they had to take me too! Leashes ARE a good idea, if used properly!!!

I have 5 children; 25, 24, 21, 15 and 7. NEVER put any of them on a leash. NEVER got called to school and none of them ever had so much as a detention. They got in trouble at home (rarely) and were spanked, and I've spanked my kids collectively 7 times in their lives. My kids know when we can play and when we can't. A leash teaches nothing! My children learned to walk with us, without a leash. LEASHES ARE FOR DOGS! A stroller, holding our hands, on our shoulders or backs etc.

I can imagine how she feels. The kid have a choice actually, he can stand up. It isn't unusual for kids to start drama scenes at public spaces as they don't feel guilt and embarrassment the same way adults do, that part simply comes later on in the brains development. She did not succeed in teaching him a lesson, she only screwed herself into getting arrested. The majority of people these days are against spanking and believe that to be abuse. I put my kids on leashes when they were younger (they're 8 and 12 now), but NOT because they were bad kids or unruly. I did it to protect them from human predators. I bought extra large dog harnesses and strapped them in before going out and would attach the leash to the back of the harness. And when they were babies, I chained their carseats to their strollers and tied the stroller to my belt. That way, if my babies went, they had to take me too! Leashes ARE a good idea, if used properly!!!

As far as the "parents that use those leashes are dumb" goes. It is better than having the child run off or snatched up and something bad happening to them, but the way that mother was using it, is not what it was intended for, and certain is unacceptable.

i think if the kid is that goddamn off the wall that he needs to be put on a leash, then he deserves it. all this shit about this "harming your child, humiliating them is bad for them!" is the kind of tenderness that makes alot of kids think they can get away with whatever they want. i have cousins whose parents give them what they want to prevent tantrums, and its sick to watch them baby their kids like that. the only way theyre ever gonna have respect for anyone is if you lay down the lay

@ameister33 I have never heard of people putting their kids on leashes because they are bad, its usually just to keep them from running around the store like a wild goose. They are little kids and they get into stuff. If the child was getting out of hand she could have taken him to the restroom or out behind the car to discipline him. No one wants to see that crap. Your kid, your problem, but dont display to everyone in the store how you feel by dragging him on the ground!
