The second thing is the actual boot time from the time it post to the time windows starts is within a few seconds of each other which leads me to believe the only time difference in the boot is actually windows cache not the hard drive. a laptop with a 5400rpm drive, on win vista or 7, will boot faster the second time you boot it, even faster each time to a point, if you have a turbo memory or a dedicated cache drive installed on the mobo.
Man this video is sooo not anywhere a fair comparison. First off i notice, he keeps his hand on the HDD as he checks temp. For all i know he's getting his fingers temp. on top of that an 8 degree difference could just be the ambient temp difference after the time lapse and is not a "significant" difference as he states.

Do NEVER buy this patriot's piece of crap! It's much slower than my 3yo 7,200 2,5" HDD and it takes ages to install anything. During instalation your PC will get almost frozen.
I think they are if you use a lot of programs. Every program I have instantly starts up as soon as I click on it where as before I had to WAIT on everything. Sometimes I would be waiting a long time. Now its instant! Like turning on a light bulb! Thats worth the price of a new computer to me!
@football72linemen Well i will stick with my Dual 500GB Segate HD's untill I see an SSD that can match it or beat it in price for the same amount of space, I download music, movies, and games, and also do OS testing, so for my money HD's win.
The Patriot Warp 32GB costs only $90 at NewEgg. It's twice as fast as some of the fastest HDD's, and you can do a couple things to deal with the stutters. I don't need much more than 32GB of storage, but if I do, I can RAID the thing for another 32GB and x2 the performance, or dish out $35 for an 80GB HDD. No problem. SSD's are the mainstream storage technology of the very, very near future.
Zoltan, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the touted capacity of 2 TB and 300 MB/s transfer rate of the SDXC has been confirmed to be a myth. Pretech has just announced that the SDXC to be released will be 32GB with 50 MB/s. All the hype seemed just like all the hype with the 'Cell' processor of the PS3 before it was released. Don't feel too disappointed, as like you said, "two steps forward and one step back." Peace.
He's wearing a lab coat, so he must be right.. oh wait.. boot times? I ONLY BOOT MY LAPTOP ONCE A WEAK, SO FAIL!

All That's not at all to say that SSD's aren't faster. Just that this is a terrible video for reference of that

Agreed, these things are not worth what they cost at this moment in time.

Two steps forward and one step back
I personally would sacrifice the extra perks of the new SSHD, for the peace of mind I get not worrying about filling the traditional one
BTW Has anyone got news on the price and the release date for SDXCs- They truely are the future and put these hard drives to shame
