its probably a combination of match grade ammo, weapon modifications, grip, and practice. remember guys like Todd do this for a living.also that might be an all steel 1911 which would make it much heavier and heavier means less recoil.impractical for a tactical loadout, but perfect for competition.

A proper grip will negate recoil unless you're shooting 230gr out a 3" 1911. You still get recoil sure but a proper grip keeps it manageable enough to hit the sized targets he's shooting at. He doesn't need to hit bullseyes.

@cjsoccer09 Before each stage, they allow competitors to walk the course, and they explain which targets are to be engaged from which point. In the sort of stages in the video, most targets are engaged as you see them, with baffles and barriers preventing a person from shooting them all from one place. Scoring is overall points divided by time. Steel targets count 5 points, same as high value on the paper targets.

Well they say take about 50% or more of your ability and throw it out the window under the stress of a 2 way range. But even 25% of his skill is pretty serious.

While he's not a room clearer or SWAT. Todd is better trained and more practiced than probably 99% of the police or soldiers of the world at winning a pistol fight.

He shoots for a living. While it could be said a soldier does also... it's not ALL they do. So just keep that in mind.
