Yep...Vandenburg. Lived in Socal 50 years. We can sometimes see the rockets/launches from LA. Early evening launches are best as the vapor trails can be very beautiful.

Makes it pretty clear why they call it that, as it leaves an aurora in the sky.. Looks like a very unique 2-stage to space hypersonic design. Thats how they work..boosting unit gets up to Mach 2 or 3, higher the betterr, then releases the Scramjet (what else>) vehicle. It's the twisting that really makes me wonder.

it is a rocket, once the rocket leaves the atmosphere the chem trail is dispersed into space thus as the rocket is gaining altitude in the atmosphere you see the chem trail, then when it is in space the chem trail disperses just like you see in the video. judging by the direction of the film (to the west) probably launched from Vandenburg AFB. Seen this dozens of times growing up in Southern California.

Wow. That was very cool video of probably a rocket/missle launch and/or test. I only wish you would have spent more time filming the actual vehicle than the smoke trail it left. Zooming in all the way on the rocket might have shown something pretty amazing. Maybe you were zoomed in all the way in the short time you did film it, I dont know. That's a really cool video nevertheless, and, Yosemite National Park is truly one of America's most beautiful and amazing places!
