It's so good to know that there are so many praying grandma's out there. Please continue the legacy. We lost my mother in law last June as well. Her prayers and words of wisdom are still with me always. God bless you, and thank you for your comment.
Aloha from Hawaii! My Abuelita passed away years ago and I'm trying to re-learn everything. This is the only video that I seen thus far that is exactly what I was looking for. Please thank Dora for me for allowing you to video her making them! I'm going to be making tamales this weekend! I cried when I hear your mother-in-law pray. It brought back memories of my grandmother praying. I miss her so much. God Bless you and your family! :0)
HI, thats cool how MRS. Reyes prays over the start of the tamales. I think that is so cool. I wanted to know what is the song on the First and Third video. I think it is Celia Cruz but what is the song name?
I loved this video, the tamales and the "suegra" too. Very loving it felt and too bad there isn't any tamales found around here :) I will learn one day.
Love this video. So nice to see the love in your family. reminds me of my grandma, she always prays when she's cooking, even when she adds salt to the food, she makes a cross with it. Thank you for sharing. God bless you
AWE....I love how she said I love you too in english....it made me giggle. I am so glad you got great grandma on video. I love watching your videos Rosemary. :) Love Tammy.
It look so good but I wasn't able to get it all down and this is my first time making them for my family, we can find some to make them where we live and I want to pass some mexican cooking down to my kids cause I didn't learn, is there a way you can email me how to make the tamales you know howmuch and what she used Please please.

Oh how precious when your sister-in-law (Tia Dora!) and mother-in-law prayed for the Lord to help her make it all come out fine and delicious! I've done that for years and still do and the Lord always blesses the food (: I looked at different websites, different youtube videos on how to make tamales and found yours to be the best. Thank you so much for sharing and God bless you and your beautiful family!

ok! One more question if you don't mind?? When you cook the pork What exactly do you add?? you said menudo mix but im not sure what kind. is it a sauce or a thick blend with hominy and spices?? thank you
I hope you will eventually get back over to Dora's house, and video her stacking the tamales to prepare them to steam. THANK YOU again. I love making tamales, and I love to look at other tamal making videos.
Hi.I'm a gringo that loves to cook and always had trouble with my masa and now I know why thanks to Dora.Tell her to keep cooking and send her my best wishes
Hi Marisol,The chili pods she used were New Mexico. I believe guajillo peppers are different kind of pepper. When she blended the chile she added about 4 garlic cloves and a tablespoon of salt.Thank you for your questions.
Are chili pods the same as guajillo peppers? and when she blended the peppers, besdies the cumin and pepper were there any other ingredients in the salsa like onions or garlic, salt?? thanks for the video!
why do you use your hands for mixing the meat with the chiles sauce? can not do it with the fork, spoon or spatula? sorry, maybe i missed that part.... i think everybody makes them different way :-) another question is: why the wrapping paper?? i know you say something like to keep moist the Tamal, but i dont think it is necessary, i think if you cover them very tight, the steam or vapor will keep them moist, well, i try to make it easier. thanks!
Wonderful your mother in law reminds me of my mother she passed four years ago. I sure wish I had learned to make tamales from her. I helped but then she got sick and just didnt have the energy to make them anymore. Thanks for the great video.
Rosette, I am so excited that you have made videos of Dora making tamales. Thank her and your mother-in-law, please. Sometime, could you possibly go back and video Dora STEAMING her tamales? I am Caucasian (Vanilla), and have been teaching my grandchildren to make tamales. Tomorrow, after church, I will teach one of my daughters. Imagine how thrilled I was to find your wonderful videos! Also, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour when I was 22 (am 61 in November).
