This album is to dark for people. All the songs are dark, all of them are great. The drums are the best Slayer have recorded, the guitars are dark, heavy, slow and agressive. This is Slayer's heaviest and darkest album and it just put fans of, it was like: whooo, you gone abit to dark their mate.
Any true metal head would realise how this is an outstanding masterpiece of metal!
This is my favorite Slayer record, actually. It certainly tackles a lot of new styles run through the Slayer sound. I think Screaming From The Sky/Point are my favorites.
@thefallenone95 Undisputed Attitude is a solid album, as far as Punk covers go its flawless. Its pure Punk straight from the heart, done so well. I wouldn't compare it to anyother Slayer record.
Definitively my favourite slayer album - and as i said album - there are songs that are better than these here but... most of tracks here are at least good and it flows...
In The Name Of God is my pick but its hard to decide on one - or six :P .
This might be their best album. I don't know what their worst would be, but Hell Awaits would be an option. I prefer the modern Slayer.... Bittter Peace is incredible. Death's Head is strong but it extends too long for no reason. Stain of Mind kicks ass. Overt Enemy has a very cool intro! Track 5 is so insanely awesome it could make me run through a wall. In the name of God is excellent. I have always loved Screaming from the Sky. And Point has grown on me so much over time!!
They were just trying to be alittle more "dark" with the cover, but, I agree, the older hand painted covers were better by far! My fav, Hell Awaits and South of Heaven.
The majority of songs are okay... Death's Head, Stain of Mind, Bitter Peace, In the Name of God and Point are definitely my favorites on there... the rest I just skim through.
there's poor lyrical content, a 'street-metal' element almost enforced thrash bands were a little disillusioned at that time with the nu- stuff. block'eds latched onto this slayer album - the cover is most un-slayer - pity theres so much patchiness theres some great moments in so many tracks n the recording is great; tom sounded vicious due to holding the mic so he could give it more
I think that Bitter peace is one of their best songs. If you consider Angel of death, hell awaits, Chemical warfare, War ensemble as "THE" Slayer songs, than Bitter Peace is one of them.... But there is a biger number of good songs on this album than on God hates us all or Christ illusion...Bitter peace, Deaths head, Dessire, In the name of god, Scrum, Screaming from the sky and Point. That`s 7 of them...I like only 5 or 6 from GHUA
I kinda have mixed feelings about Diabolus In Musica. The first couple of songs are very good and I appreciated the Hip Hop influenced experiments (King recorded the guitar parts for Beastie Boys Ill in the Head album, so I think he likes Hip Hop). Death Head and Overt Enemy are very powerful songs, too.
However after the first 6 songs or so it begins to weaken. IMHO
Too many people think they HAVE to hate some albums by their favourite band. I fucking love EVERY Slayer album for different reasons. Seriously you can find loads of fucking awesome stuff on every album. Personally I actually like practically every Slayer song. The only song that ive found that I dont like all that much from all the slayer ive listened to, which is a lot, is Love to hate because I think Tom actually did rap a bit and the riff kinda put me off but still good.
This album is one of my personal favorites by SLAYER.
I liked it far better than Christ Illusion. Good album but it was just a bit too boring for my taste.
I also get sick of people harping on Undisputed Attitude and calling it their worst. Firstly, it's mostly a cover album. It also has two reworked Pap Smear songs (Lombardo and Hanneman's previous project) and an original Slayer song ("Gemini", which sounds fuckin' great). I felt the covers were pretty faithful.
@HALOJUNKIE17 Reign in blood is an amazing, fucking amazing album. Its only overrated because it's the only album that emo and scene douchebags or douchebags in general know. It can be debated that it's overrated for slayer but it's still better than any album most bands have ever put out. Hell awaits is their best album though.
I'd say Divine Intervention is their least liked album, though I still love it. This album is the fucking shit. "Death's pointed at your head, your mind's on the triger PULL IT!" Fucking great album.
some albums are bound to be rejected but they just grow up in us like drugs addiction, i used to hate metallica's load, re-load, i used to dislike slayer's diabolus in musica, god **** us of all.... but not anymore. for me slayer's most dark& morbid albums are devine intervention& diabolus in musica.
It's not that this was a bad album, personally this is a great album, the problem is that this album seems to lack consistency, which every other slayer album has, some songs are just hardcore, then there are some mellow (for slayer at least) tracks on here. I can't explain it, but there is something that just makes the album not as flashy as the others.
"It is known as the worst album this band has made. " Fuck all bastard who say this, this is Slayer's MOST AWESOME ROCORD EVER,and Paul Bostaph FAR BETTER THEN LOMBARDO!!!!!
You know, I'e called this their worst album, but it's really damn good. Better than divine intervention, about as good as christ illusion (heavier at least). Great stuff, sounds just like Slayer should!
@DylanVanella Divine Intervention is one of their best releases, Bostaph made Slayer a more creative band. Too bad for the production! Diabolus in Musica is good too!
diabolus in musica lacks dittohead and classic-feeling songs with modern twists. instead it has modern songs with recognizable elements of their early 90s sound - like hearing about your fav band breaking up then forming a new but similar band. divine intervention is a better slayer album but i personally find diabolus in musica a more catchy 90s metal album, and def underrated. stain of mind and 'bloodline' (God Hates US All) are similar singles - for me Stain of Mind is better. SHIT title tho.
This is in my opinion the best slayer cd this is when I started to listen to them and got to see them at ozzfest 99 in vancouver at the thunderbird stadium... fucking great and nonstop, as soon as they stopped the one song, they started the other on the exact same note so it seemed ... seen an american with a harsh southern accent, said he waited 10 years to finally see them... so it made me feel even more important.. fuck yeah I was jumping on the mother fucking mosh monkeys
Bitter Piece, Desire, In the Name of God, and Wicked are my favs. Alot of people say that this was their worst album...I dont think it was their worst, but I dont think it was their best album...there is no bad Slayer album....
Would have been better if they mixed it up a bit, and threw in more really fast parts and more random solos. The fast and slow mixed together is what made South of Heaven so good.
how th fuck do idiots think god hates us all is there worst album
Disciple, god send death , threshold , exile , warzone , payback come on....... fucking morons.... probably think just because it wasen't made in 1986 that it isin't good.....plz tell me at least why god hates us all is there worst , and a valid reason plz , not "it's nu-metal durrrgh" ,
This album lacks a lot of what I love about Slayer though----mainly speed, and straight forward (no weird production tricks) execution.
I think the stink of Limp Bizkit had infected even the best of true metal back then. Just think: What shitty shit was Metallica working on when this album was recorded?
very very underrated album, im glad someone brought this up, i love all slayer albums, the classics are always great but this album has so much depth and feeling its rediculous.
Slayer caved in to trend on this one and on God Hates Us All. I sold 'em both. Bitter Peace is the only good song on this album that also feels like a true Slayer.
Nu Metal? So those 2 albums are nu metal? you're an idiot. Christ Illision had few good tracks but the quality of the cd was so crappy, they sounded like some new band that just formed and didnt have the money to record in a real studio with real producers. I don't even know what's nu metal is.. Is that Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park where they have hard guitar riffs and some guy raps at the same time? haha
this cd is great. absolutely not there best but its a great album. i dont know why so many people hate it. and god hates us all was a near perfect album, too IMO. way too underrated for how good it is
Bitter peace is one of slayer's best songs imo. Perversions of pain and point are good songs too, but i don't really like the other songs of this album.
this is my first time hearing this album. i gotta say it sounds awesome, there old stuff is different yeah, but come on, this really isn't so bad, alot is expected from slayer so its easy to pic faults in their newer stuff. think about it!!
i love slayer and there sure as hell isnt anything wrong with this album...if it all sounded the same theyd be the darker heavier ac/dc, we dont need that
this album known as a unique record, actually it's my best album from slayer, and the reason of why they dont play many of this album live, that's because they have hundreds of songs.
and btw these are my favorite song parts u've choosed there.
This is one great album, they all have different moods of anger and attitude. Musically its one of the best. Better and more creative that others who lasted this long. Slayer rules/../
I think this album kicks serious ass! I'm a die hard Slayer fan, and the album I least listen to is Divine Intervention - it has some great tracks, but it never really amazed me. I'd place God hates much higher than rugterwyper did. Admittedly, some songs are just plain thrashing and screaming (Exile, Threshold), but others (Seven Faces, Bloodline, Disciple, New Faith) feel so great to listen to it makes more than up for that. Just my opinion, of course. Rock on!
it is not bad album at all,i remember to be hooked on it at that time. maybe they were slightly influenced by NU metal which was the IN music at that time. one thing is sure for me: it awakens the evil in me.
South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss and Christ Illusion are their best. Then Reign in Blood, then Hell Awaits, after that Show No Mercy, then this (Best of the Bostaph era, IMO), then Divine Intervention and far behind God Hates Us All (Not only does it suck lyrically, but musically it was half great songs, the other half was mediocre to no end or just plain old bad and took it down by a lot). This album is seriously underrated, what damages it is repetitive songs at times. And Desire.
This album was so much better than their latest one...guys, get Rick Rubin back....whatever he was doing was working

whats wrong with slayer now is they think they can get away with un-complex riffs that are shit easy to play (mostly)
and aslong as they sound hard and heavy, and fast here and then, people will think they are still "br00t4l !111!!1"

(which is a good thing!!!!)
GhostofWar75 2 years ago
Bitter peace is one of slayer's best songs imo. Perversions of pain and point are good songs too, but i don't really like the other songs of this album.

This ALBUM RULES
YOU COULD SAY IT KILLS
IT IS AWESOME.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T LISTEN TO SLAYER YOU SHOULD
SIT IN SILENCE AND LISTEN TO BACH OR LISTEN TO YOURSELF BREATH.
I don't listen to much metal. but i can remember when i did and my first two albums were raining blood and seasons in the abyss.
i would fall asleep listening to them when i was in elementary school, but i got this albums a few years in when i was in Maryland
this brings back so many good memories i loveit

Bach is far better than any metal band, except Rhapsody.

this is my first time hearing this album. i gotta say it sounds awesome, there old stuff is different yeah, but come on, this really isn't so bad, alot is expected from slayer so its easy to pic faults in their newer stuff. think about it!!

It's not bad, but bad by Slayer's standard which is usually epic.
It's just under Seasons.

this album known as a unique record, actually it's my best album from slayer, and the reason of why they dont play many of this album live, that's because they have hundreds of songs.
and btw these are my favorite song parts u've choosed there.

This is one great album, they all have different moods of anger and attitude. Musically its one of the best. Better and more creative that others who lasted this long. Slayer rules/../
umasbob 2 years ago
I think this album kicks serious ass! I'm a die hard Slayer fan, and the album I least listen to is Divine Intervention - it has some great tracks, but it never really amazed me. I'd place God hates much higher than rugterwyper did. Admittedly, some songs are just plain thrashing and screaming (Exile, Threshold), but others (Seven Faces, Bloodline, Disciple, New Faith) feel so great to listen to it makes more than up for that. Just my opinion, of course. Rock on!

The best Slayer album.
slaytera 2 years ago
really it depends on the way you look at slayer
i personally dont think its their best. it has a different feel. and i understand why you would think its the best.
but i think south of heaven just owns it all

this pwns its not bad
sodomandlust666 2 years ago
it is not bad album at all,i remember to be hooked on it at that time. maybe they were slightly influenced by NU metal which was the IN music at that time. one thing is sure for me: it awakens the evil in me.
piodelpilar5 2 years ago
South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss and Christ Illusion are their best. Then Reign in Blood, then Hell Awaits, after that Show No Mercy, then this (Best of the Bostaph era, IMO), then Divine Intervention and far behind God Hates Us All (Not only does it suck lyrically, but musically it was half great songs, the other half was mediocre to no end or just plain old bad and took it down by a lot). This album is seriously underrated, what damages it is repetitive songs at times. And Desire.
