The opening arpeggio on guitar can't exactly be called 'ripping off' as it's a common pattern in music, such as Unchained Melody. Lots of songs use chord notes in that pattern. As for the rest, it's their song! You can't rip yourself off!

Most bands spend their whole lives writing identical songs, this has just got the same rythmn/beat/..they always said they were'nt sure they should put it out cause it had a similar feel..

I think judging by my comments rating a few people maybe didn't get what i meant, apart from a couple people.. I meant to say that they have every right in my view to copy a couple of elements of an earlier song of theirs.Most bands spend their WHOLE carears doing the same song over an over ,all the manics have done here is use a couple of sounds that they created in the first place..

The band knew full well that it was similar. In fact, it was probably intentional. I've always thought of Indian Summer as more of a sequel to Design for Life anyway, and it works in that respect.

i thought that The Wire allready stated before that Indian summer and A design for life were quite similar, especially when it came to beats. But this idea occured to me too, very cool, and also freaky idneed.
