My prom was 10 years ago, and they didn't prevent the gay guys in our school from going together or dancing together... and several people including myself danced with them.
Why this isn't acceptable in every school? No, why isn't this encouraged in other schools? I don't know... but to be exclusionary teaches kids that it's okay to treat minority groups as less than human. That ends up hurting people, meanwhile no one is hurt by letting every student participate in a student function.

I live in Georgia (part of the bible belt) There are places here that are accepting. (Atlanta, Athens, Decatur) but there are very many towns that are not. I live right outside the cool parts of Atlanta. A snobby, rich neighborhood my mom just loves (many people are homophobic). I just started high-school. I want to make an LGBT club but I'm not sure if my school system will let me. There are a large amount gays and lesbians like myself. The world is changing.

I live in Australia, my old school was built in 1993, since then it has let gay and lesbian couples attend formals together no questions asked (a formal here is what you would call prom) it is outrageous that someone would stop this, my old principle would never have tried to stop prom or try to stop homosexul couples attending. To my formal, I wore a tux, my girlfriend wore torn up skinny jeans and a flannalette shirt and we rocked up on a ride on lawn mower together. We kicked ass :)

i'm very lucky that my school is tolerant of people and their individualities. i took a girl to prom, & it wasn't an issue. no one made a big deal about it because it wasn't. most memorable moment at prom: dancing and having a good time with my friends. this is what prom is about, not stupid bullshit like trying to figure out what kind of couple is acceptable. the sexual orientation of the people going is completely irrelevant. great video.

My first prom was last year and I took a girl, Angela. She's one of my best friends and we are both into girls, just not each other. Hearing you talking about schools and being accepting, have you ever heard of or seen the show "If you knew me"? It's a show about preventing and stopping all of the drama and clicks and other problems. Alot of people came out about everything. not just being gay but everything. But back to Prom, i didn't go with anyone, I had plans to go with this guy even though i'm gay, he cancelled anyways. Prom was great. i was carefree for one night. i danced even though i can't dance.

it actually hurts to know that america isnt accepting of lgbt people, in england its all respected. i didnt have a girlfriend for prom so i went with friends and we all danced together and had fun, but i know in the year below me there were a few lesbians and ALL of them were allowed to go in tuxes and bring their girlfriends (as long as the girlfriend was in the same year same school)

My prom was amazing I couldn't have made it any better I ended up going with a friend only to find out my first gf who promised me no matter what she'd make it to my senior prom showed up. She kept that promise four years after she graduated. And 3 years after we broke up. I was shocked. I know that in Austin we have a gay prom every year and it's always alot of fun.

My prom was 10 years ago, and they didn't prevent the gay guys in our school from going together or dancing together... and several people including myself danced with them.
Why this isn't acceptable in every school? No, why isn't this encouraged in other schools? I don't know... but to be exclusionary teaches kids that it's okay to treat minority groups as less than human. That ends up hurting people, meanwhile no one is hurt by letting every student participate in a student function.

I live in Georgia (part of the bible belt) There are places here that are accepting. (Atlanta, Athens, Decatur) but there are very many towns that are not. I live right outside the cool parts of Atlanta. A snobby, rich neighborhood my mom just loves (many people are homophobic). I just started high-school. I live in Australia, my old school was built in 1993, since then it has let gay and lesbian couples attend formals together no questions asked (a formal here is what you would call prom) it is outrageous that someone would stop this, my old principle would never have tried to stop prom or try to stop homosexul couples attending. To my formal, I wore a tux, my girlfriend wore torn up skinny jeans and a flannalette shirt and we rocked up on a ride on lawn mower together. We kicked ass :)

My best friend is gay and she is one of the most amazing people i know, and i myself am bi. I honestly hate when people try to say that because we go for both or for the same sex we're different. It is so far from true its not even funny, and I truely wish you had the same support that my school gives, we have couples in our school who are lesbians & are totally open about it. i'm very lucky that my school is tolerant of people and their individualities. i took a girl to prom, & it wasn't an issue. no one made a big deal about it because it wasn't. most memorable moment at prom: dancing and having a good time with my friends. this is what prom is about, not stupid bullshit like trying to figure out what kind of couple is acceptable. the sexual orientation of the people going is completely irrelevant. great video.

My first prom was last year and I took a girl, Angela. She's one of my best friends and we are both into girls, just not each other. I remember that she made face to Lacey on the dance floor and dance with every single person at prom. It was a good time. It's not really frowned upon at my school because it's a performing arts school and the majority of the student body is lgst to be honest so I can't say that I know what it is like. Hearing you talking about schools and being accepting, have you ever heard of or seen the show "If you knew me"? It's a show about preventing and stopping all of the drama and clicks and other problems. Alot of people came out about everything. not just being gay but everything. My prom was amazing I couldn't have made it any better I ended up going with a friend only to find out my first gf who promised me no matter what she'd make it to my senior prom showed up. She kept that promise four years after she graduated. And 3 years after we broke up. I was shocked. I know that in Austin we have a gay prom every year and it's always alot of fun.

I completely support this, the school was wrong, some small minded people making it bad for every1 who is not considered normal, its crazy..... And best prom memory was spending it with my gf, we aint togerther anymore because she was a bitch LOL... but hey was nice at the time :) xx
