When I used to have Vanilla my team was purely thorough fandom as I was played each of their representative games in the past. My teams were Ryu, Zero, and a cross between Viewiful Joe and Amaterasu. For tech reasons Spider-Man because of the web capture assist helps set up air or ground combo if the situation allows me to do so. But even so most of the characters in Vanilla I had played them in the past,and are really enjoyable to play but as I said the those I chose is 'just cause'.
I use Vergil because I enjoy the speedy playstyle and combo potential, Sentinel because his sentinel force assist is awesome and he can take hits when Vergil isn't in, and Super-Skrull for my anchor for his powerful combos and hypers.
I use Zero, Taskmaster, and Wesker. Zero, because I LOVE the Megaman games. Taskmaster, because I selected random when I was going into an Online battle, and I won with him, and Wesker because he looked cool. :)
I Choose Female Girls Because There are some Who I'm fan of like Morrigan, And I LOVE Dante so I have to choose him, Also Akuma is so damn strong and I love X-23 becuse she's fast and her movements are very helpful
I like to pick "bad ass" characters, myself. In MvC 2 I used Gambit, Wolverine (Metal Claw) and my third would switch between Megaman and Captain America. I love Gambit and Wolverine, as for the other two, I've just used them since MvC 1 (Going off your "Loyalty" mention there.) I'm not the best player, and I haven't played MvC3 or UMvC3 much yet, but if I was to play right now I'd likely go Wesker, Zero and Wolverine.

That is a very shitty team competitively, I know that, but I play them cause I like them, and I can do pretty damn well online, because I've learnt them so well. I'd rather use them than Wesker, Vergil and Dante, just because they're competitively better.
i use akuma, dormamu, and wesker. i like akuma he is fast, dormamu has great combos, and wesker can teleport which makes for some crazy combos and i think you should have atleast one person who has a counter move of some sort. its a nice change. that is my main team but i do change it up alot. idk if that is helpful or not....
I use Phoenix Wright as a main because I love the ace attorney series, plus I think he's a damn good character. I use Nemesis as first assist because he's simple to use, does great damage, and his back heavy has some super armour and makes it easy to get hits. Then I use Chun-Li as second assist because she's fast and good for getting in on keepaway players (unlike Nemesis and Wright) So I think my team is pretty balanced ^^
In Vanilla I used Spider-Man on point, Deadpool, and Chris. Now I use Spider-Man, Deadpool, and Frank West. I use Spider-Man because I love the guy and I always have since I was a kid. Deadpool because the guy's friggin hilarious, Frank West because well let's just say even though he's the leader of ordinary characters he'll still kick the living crap out of ya.
On vanilla I used Spider-Man,Ryu,and Magneto because I could use spider-mans web ball to help with my rush down with Magneto and Ryu was my anchor just because he is that awesome!
akuma dante and ghost rider works good, dante's weasel shot assist combined with akuma's teleport i really awesome and ghost hellfire is helpful to extend akumas combos.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was the third 2D fighter I ever played, so I was kind of confused as to who I should have picked. So, I went with Deadpool at point because I love people who are literally insane in video games and I enjoyed his background story. After him, I had Amaterasu because I had seen some pretty sweet Ammy gameplay in a tournament, and I had played the Okami game. Finally, I had Wesker as an anchor because he was obnoxiously easy to play and terrifying with X-Factor.
I've got 3 teams that switch between, and a couple good team ideas. I've started working with a new team made up of Ghost Rider, Dante, and Vergil. I usually ahve Vergil on point because of the shear range of his normals, but I put him last on this team so I start of by utilizing Ghost Rider's zoning. I use Dante because his Jam Session is a great assit for Ghost Rider.
You should really give Sentinel a chace. He was my favorite character in MVC3 and MVC2; however I find it hard to play him anymore, because I've started using a lot of the great new characters in the game, like Vergil Ghost Rider and Iron Fist. I also hardly use Sentinel anymore because of his reduced health; I was so pissed when the designers did that In MVC3 he was my last character; I could whip him out and punish weaker characters with lots of meter. Fortunately he still has great assits.
I agree with you about Wolverine. I don't like him much either because he's not very versitile on a team; he's only meant to be played as a point character. I prefer characters that can fufill any position on a team. One of the good things about Wolverine though, is he's fast as all get out.
I started out playing things based off of nostalgia and just in general what characters I really liked, Like Dante and Vergil because i'm a huge fan of the DMC Series, Same with Zero(but I suck with Zero so I stopped) and then I wanna play Flashy characters that look cool while they play, Like Strider, but now i play x-23/Ryu/Vergil for the same reasons and because I like Shin Hadouken as a DHC <3 theres probably a deeper reason but Whatever. lol
Ghost Rider: cuz i like the whole chain thing, Hulk: was a funnie one cuz in MVC3 i used cpt A and spider and one day i picked random and i got hulk and i started to smash my friends with hulk so he just became one of my guy so would say by random, Spiderman: was and cpt where my 2 players i used in MVC so i went with hm in this game
It's funny he mention's unique teams. I personally use Deadpool, Super Skrull and Haggar most of the time and actually enjoy playing with them. Even though their assists are just okay and all three are high risk high reward characters, I manage to win a good amount and enjoy the game.
I use zero for the fact that he is an easy character to learn and he is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. I use Dante because there is so much to work with and he is a cool dude. Then Amaterasu i loved her game and found her to be fun in this game.
I use hulk cause i saw some cool things he can do and i learned a few of them. Iron man for support purposes only.
Vergil cause he's got dat swag, Hulk because hes a fuckin beast, and Hawkeye because he is so fun to play and is great for anchor in level 3 X-factor. They all have great synergy.
my team is Wolverine, Morrigan and Deadpool, Wolverine and Morrigan cause of nostalgia factor from the previous games (Wolvie was my main in XSF, MSHvSF, MVC1 and MVC2, and Morrigan was a character I used in MVC2), Deadpool cause my brother picks him so I thought "why not" plus he reminds me of Cyclops from XSF and MVC2 (that's just me)
In game where you create your own character, I only plays guys, cause it wouldn't be accurate of me to play a female character in those guys. In games with preset characters I will pick the ones I relate to most simply because I will try harder to be better with them. Vergil trying to outshine the overplayed dante, deadpool because 4th wall breaking is hilarious and pheonix cause she just won't stay dead :)
My main team is X23, Vergil, and Ghost rider. I picked X23 and Ghost cause pure fan love of both characters but Vergil I choice duo to his skill. I need a solid third person I can rock with in case of problems sense X23 has low health and Ghost rider is more a mid range fighter. Vergil gives me that by being quick and tough but having higher health then X23.
Well im about to buy my ps 3 and im thinking about 2 teams... #1- Chris Redfield, Frank West, Akuma... and #2- X-23, Deadpool, and maybe Ghost Rider, but not sure about the last one... lemme know what u think guys !!
Vanilla- Spider-Man, Jill Valentine and Doctor Doom
Why because their DHC's and combos go so well together. All three have great combo potential and they seem real easy to use. The only thing I haven't mastered yet is Jill's Mad Beast. Its real hard to use. Well at least for me anyways. In Ultimate, its the same team, in the first slot, second slot is Spider-Man, Spencer, and Super Skrull because their assists go quite well together. I choose Spider-Man because fun to use. he fits my style.
my first team was wesker doom and vergil now its danta vergil strider and the reason i use this team is they a have werid sword the yamto,rebellion and strider kill any thing in one swing
I main RR, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk in ultimate and in vanilla its probably Magneto, Super-Skrull and Deadpool. I tru tp balance my teams with a good support, speed, and power so I dont leave myself to open its worked so far
My team is Deadpool,Doom and Wesker. ( in vanilla and ultimate )
I choose Deadpool because of his many keep-away attacks ( and because he is so funny )
For Doom id say it his partly because of Assist-me but also because of his Deadly corner combo and his mobility and attacks in the air.
For Wesker, it was mainly because I am a huge fan of him and is fighting style is soooo awesome, but Wesker is mainly a "last resort" because he is my best character by far and is moves can counter beam-spamers.
in vanilla i used doom, felicia and arthur.....just complete randomness except doom because i adore fantastic 4 and was gonna pick super skrull but i was sooo bad with him altough i was never that good and im still not haha. love the online warrior max!
I pick my characters based on fandom initially, and whichever my fan favorites work I stick with. Then I experiment with other characters I find more or less appealing until I find the ones I can play with comfortably right away rather than having to painstakingly learn what the character is all about in order to get decent at him/her
I use Vergil because I like his combat style, Ryu since he was my first fighter character and Ammy mostly to use against Hulk and Sentinal or just to annoy people with her constant barrage.
My main first team was Wesker, Dante and Hulk. I luv Wesker even I maybe mad 4 power yet 4 the reason I'm a huge fan of Resident evil games waiting 4 re6 and resident evil raccoon city operation yet closely finishing my favorite horror game series. For Dante, I luv his combos and connecting attacks makes me wanna go crazy yet another fan I am in all DMC games. For Hulk well 4 myself apparently I'm watching here via youtube on his comic story movie.
@Liljoethemaster I am convinced for this game to play as Strider and friggin Vergil oh yeah, the other characters, well I will start training all of them to know their moves going on mission, training and arcade. I'm buying it but I just dont need any cockfuckers using cheap wins (using the same moves every time) to start antagonizing any of the players to play a full experience battle I want, I win with experience and you guys should know that... Let the best man win in UMVC3

i started using wesker because of who he was. when ever i played re i always wanted to see him. i respect him and just love who he is. i always liked playing him on re4 an on this game hes just amazing

X-23, Zero and my third varies between Dante and Strider.
I use X-23 because she was the first character in Vanilla that i found myself able to use, and she just got better for me in Ultimate, i enjoy how fast her attacks and combo's are too, as well as how well they can flow together.
Zero i wasn't very fond of in Vanilla and even when Ultimate came out, i still couldn't get used too him, but now i find myself using all the time, after using him for a while in training mode, trying to figure--

Dante i use because i love the DMC series, so i guess its fandom, however, that does not mean i don't use him for his rushing play style and flashy combo, i enjoy using Dante alot, forcing my opponents into tight spots is always fun.
Strider, i was completely new too, i didnt even know that he existed before Ultimate--
Felicia Morrigan X-23 i used morrigan and felicia in mvc2 and loved them, morrigans dark harmonizer assist is awesome too. Felicia her sand splash assist is pretty good and she is fast character which helps. X-23 again fast character that i have fun with and my mate hates so thats makes my team
what is the best thing to do to fight against the characters that are so overly used? Such as Wesker, Dante, Sentinal and other characters that have all the crazy bells and whistles?
I pick chun li all the time, because when I was young, all of my cousins picked ryu, Ken, bison and vega as they're favorite characters in street fighter 2. As little kids, we didn't think it was "allowed" to have the same favorite character. I hated e.Honda, balrog, guile and blanka and dualism because they grossed me out. Lol so I used chun li, and throughout capcom history, (like crossover games) I've grown to adore the first lady of fighting.
i play vergil, ironfist and the 3 is in the air Dormarmuu, wesker or Doctor Strange though I think i would pick Doctor Strange , have a mage..you know have swordsman ( Fast), Iron fist because hand to hand, love hand to hand and he has power, and a long distant character, With magic lol what do you think?
I use Viewtiful Joe because he is the 1st character that I played on the game cube dead pool because he's moves are different from the rest of the cast and still looking for my 3 rd having a hard time find the last one
I play my characters because I remember playing in the old arcades as a kid. Playing Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter are one of my best childhood memories. Right now my team is Captain America, Ryu, and Iron Man.
I choose those that are slightly different to others, like Phoenix Wright and Frank West that have certain unique parts like Turnabout Mode and the Levelling System.
My Selection for Characters defines how I want to play, thus, I like using characters that require a little effort put into it in order to make a good game, such as Phoenix Wright's Turnabout mode, and Frank West's Level up system.
The other character I'd use would be either one of these, Ryu, Rocket Raccoon, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Phoenix, Strider, Akuma, Or C. Viper.
However, Not owning the game, I don't know how these characters work in depth, so I wouldn't set this in stone yet.
i use Wolverine cuz i used to play him in the previous mvc with his berserker barrage. Deadpool cuz he has an easy-going fighting style. and Wesker cuz has some awesome movesets of fighting.

Honestly, I'm getting the game soon and I'll pick Vergil, Wesker and Dormamu or Iron Fist because they all look cool and the move I've seen of them I see they're all fast and strong plus all except Iron Fist are teleports. I can't wait to get the game and so yeah that's why. Not because Wesker is OP because I didn't even know back then so yeah that's my opinion :)
On Vanilla my team was always Wesker i hated not having STARS Jill so i began to use it, Dante I wanted to see him on mvc since mvc2 awesome character, and Deadpool cause he si just so fun to play with... on UMVC3 my Team just got a little bit enhanced cause sometimes i switch to Vergil depending on the team I'm playing against
My original team was Wesker dante and iron man. Wesker because im a huge resident evil fan. Dante because im a huge DMC fan. Iron man because he was my favorite char in mvc2
I picked Taskmaster right off the bat ... I picked him because it just felt good to play him. I didn't know how good of a battery he was, or that he has good assists, i just played him.
When it comes to picking characters in any ol' game its usualy based on how they look my favorite MMO is League of Legends and I first decide if I want to try a new champ based on if either its a female or they're adorable. (I'm a guy so yeah don't hate) Then if I see someone play a champion really well but I don't see that champion very often I might decide to start playing them.
In Vanilla I used Dante (Due to being a fan of all 4 DMC games, and how he was virtually the same in MVC3 as he was in his games), Chris (Being a fan of him in RE5, plus his moveset looked interesting). My third was originally Haggard for his pipe and assist, then switched to Nathan after seeing what combo fiend could do with him, as well as his assists. When it comes to UMV3, the part is Virgil and Strider (due to fandom), while searching for a good 3rd technical character.
In vanilla I used super skrull (when the fantastic 4 movie came out I read one of the comics and realized how much he kicked ass) used wolverine(cuz I used him once and he was beast) sentinel for the same reason as wolverine
I just go with the interesting characters. Phoenix Wright is my main (due to my Ace Attorney fanboyism) Ammy (she's easy to use and her visuals are the most striking) and RR (his voice is epic. THIS WEIGHS MORE THAN ME! Anyone?) plus I needed someone with projectiles (PW doesn't really count due to his stance system) X-23 used to be my third but without a character that has some sort of easy to use basic projectile I was finding good keepaway characters to be a nightmare. So RR was drafted in.
For me, I pick characters that have certain things in their movesets that really stand out to me, and make me think "Yes, this is absolutely the character I want to play." Thankfully, Marvel (and Blazblue) has this in spades. But I also need to actually like the character behind it as well.
I'm uncertain of my exact team, but I usually play Phoenix Wright, Sentinel, Hsien-ko, Morrigan, Trish, and Doctor Strange.
I liked to choose ryu(type b), akuma(type a), and iron man(type y) in the vanilla. But in ultimate, I switch over to ghost rider(type b), doctor doom(type a), and iron man(type a). And I got my doctor doom skills from you Max, thank you.
I never had vanilla but my team is usually vergil, rocket raccoon and arthur. Always seems like a weird team but I like it. Vergil is nimble but strong, raccoon is just plain nimble, and arthur can go through most ranged peoples attacks. I just picked them because they were fun to play not really anything else.
in vanilla i used amaterasu, deadpool and viewtiful joe, i chose ammy because i saw chuggaconeroy's lp of okami and it looked like a cool game, joe because i watched the anime, and deadpool because he looked funny and my kind of character. but in U i swapped joe with phoenix wright, i saw dsp's lp of pw AA, and it was a better looking game than i expected, and was a pretty funny game. i swaped joe because ammy was also a good short character. so my team is phoenix wright, amaterasu and deadpool.
The only reason I started with these chars was the fact that I had no clue who any of them where, the rest of the cast I have known from ether games or comics.
I learned later that Lie Lie was considered low tier and that made me want to be good with her even more, I like beating people with chars that others don't expect much from.
i use tron because is extremely ease to use for me i dont know why , x-23 is the ultimate fight machine she is very fast u can do a counter hit very ease, and im triying to play dr strange he looks so useful but to me its extremely hard to use sp i dont know i trie to play with carecters that r non common jejeje because it is fun
my team in Zero,Akuma,and Ryu.Zero is in my team cause i love megaman and he was a awsome character in MvC3 and he is just much better to me in UMvC3.Ryu cause i also love street fight and he was my main in all the other MvC games.Akuma cause he was great in street fighter 4 and is still great in UMvC3.their team hyper is great cause Ryu and Akuma can focus on the front while if the enemy tries to jump over Zero can get him with his special. alot think its a odd team but its perfect to me.
in umvc3 i use zero cause he is my fav from the megaman games as point vergil i just like swords and thought it would be fun and strider as ancor cause i liked him from the first 2 games. the 3 together work great i just dont do the tirple team stider's super is off
I started with Tron Bonne (main in MvC2), Zero (his trailers were badass), and Haggar/Wesker (just cause). I eventually replaced Haggar with Hulk and put him at point instead of Tron, then replaced Tron with Akuma so that I had one tank and two damaging characters. Unfortunately neither Zero nor Akuma had a lot of health, but when UMvC3 came out I found I liked playing Nova and he replaced Akuma solving some of my health issues as a bonus.
Chris and DOOM, in my mind, are BFFs and pretty 'tankish'. Ghost, I like, b/c of his rangy normals and how they fit with the overall zoning style of his team. DOOM's assists are some of the best. Chris' specials immobilize the opponent while dealing chip. The team hyper practically fills the entire screen so there's no escape.
I fashion teams mainly after characters' special moves & health. Then, I worry about synergy from hypers and assists.
i use strider super skrull and taskmaster becuase of their close combat tactics and their fun characters that tend to be unpredictable once u breask them in.
For picking my team i usually pick marvel characters because im like obsessed with marvel but still use marvel just because i want to get used to all the characters so the opponent your facing doesnt get used to your team and makes his teams off of your team
For picking my team/character, I normally find about 6 or so that I like the playstyle of and try to make one of them my main and find the other ones that support him best. Right now, I really like how Frank West plays, and I like Ghostrider both in game and out, and Dr. Doom is another I liked. So, off of that, I made Frank my main with Ghostrider Hellfire assist and leave Doom as my anchor with Hidden Missiles to help against heavy keepaway or aggressive characters against Frank.
when i started marvel 3 i loved usingdeadpool because he breaks the 4th wall so goodly he can break the5th wall and beyond then i started using x-23 becausei saw al the evo tournaments and i saw justin using wolverine alot and i thought that x 23 was a wolverine copy at first but i found out that i was way wrong and then i used morrigan alot during tvc alot and then that was my team for vanilla (that is if canilla means mvc3 ) so ya and when umvc3 came out i loved pheonix wright and used shehulk
@fotofantom1 because i found out that she is also a lawyer so it was like defence prosecutorand the defendant she hulk prosecuter cuz of her starting quote (today im judge jury and exacutioner )and i allways thought t=she said prosecuter so i stuck with her and dead pool cuz of his 4th wall breaking
Deadpool - He is just so lovable and silly. even when you are getting your ass kicked when you hear that trademark "BANG! BANG! BANG! Etc." you just got ti giggle on the inside.
X -23 - i just didnt like the feel of wolverine and she is hotter. also she gave my team one hell of a cross-over if i just want one character to DIE!
M.O.D.O.K ia hilarious in every sense and he can be deadly in the right hands. You can pull off very unique combos with him.
Hsien Ko is my favourite Darkstalker character and she is another funny character that can be really effective. Despite what tier lists say I wont drop her from my team.
Tron was a character I've been playing since MvC3 and she is one of the more interesting heavyweights in the game. She does more than just dealing loads of damage.
My Team is Rocket Raccoon Doctor Doom Frank West i just like the team. Rocket Raccoon is a good fighter when used properly that can also play a bit of keep away. Doom for fun and Frank because lv 4 Frank with lv 3 x factor is game over if he hits you.
Amaterasu, because her game was one of the best adventures I've had with a controller in YEARS. Plus a lot of the more annoying spamalicious projectiles (ahem, WESKER) go right over her.
Deadpool, for the lulz and he's great for my more aggressive slicey-dicey moods.
I love Devil May Cry and have always dreamed of someone making a game with Vergil as the main character. Then, me and spider-man have the same last name so I feel I have to play him because a relative of mine. And i would never cheat on Chun li... thats my bae!!!lol
When I still had my copy of vanilla I based my team of Dante/Chun/Sent off a number of factors, but none of my choices were exactly wise from a gameplay perspective. I've been a fan of Devil May Cry for some time, so I was pretty happy that series got some representation in MvC. When news broke that Dante was also a pretty well rounded character that sealed the deal for me. I've been playing street fighter for a good 3 years now, and I was determined to have a street fighter character in my team
I picked up Ryu in vanilla because I hated him in MVC2 and I really wanted to see him get an upgrade being one of the biggest faces of Capcom. The second I realized you could aim his Shinku-hadouken I was sold. Morrigan has always been the character I played with in Darkstalkers and has all the tools you need to win any match up. Lastly, I chose Spencer because I grew up playing his games and recently had played his newest one on the PS3. They all fit my play style perfectly.
i piss people off by playing "keep-away" with deadpool's guns and when they get too close i use zero's ryujen assist and start gunning them down again. in time i eventually pop in a combo using sentinel's drones as assists and constantly switching between deadpool and zero. not really the best strategy but mostly works for me since i'm not a freakin master in long combos.
I based my team entirely around characters that I wanted to try out. X-23 looked cool, I loved Rocket Raccoon's voice (turned out to be Greg Ellis, so no wonder), and Doctor Strange's third colour made him look like Byron Orpheus from the Venture Bros.
Turns out that the team had some pretty wicked synergy.
I'm still a novice at the game, but it's all for fun anyway, and everyone loves seeing the Raccoon on the battlefield.
my team is based on my favorite characters from the old fighting games, Ryu from street fighter vs xmen, zero from TvC, Deadpool cause hes awesome..... and also no more cable from mvc2.
The reason I chose my team of Ghost Rider Doom and Strider were actually because of the 'Assist Me!' videos. Well was more character loyalty but, Ghost Rider and Strider were because of the 'Assist Me!' videos.
Well my reason maybe silly but when it came to the marvel vs capcom series I was always the type of guy that I always wanted to be able to use all the characters so I'm still learning how to use all of them
I am a soul calibur player. And that was the only fighting game I ever played. From soul edge to soul calibur 4, I got really good with solphita. But when umvc3 came out. I picked up a team that was kinda odd. First is Virgil, because I like dmc and he had a sword. Taskmaster because he had a sword, counters are awesome and loved his technical moves. And wesker because he was pretty strong, just needed his fist and pistol, and I though if he was powerful in resident evil 5, he has to be mvc3. T
I pick my characters based on my own personal preference if I were to play MvC 3 all of my teams would consist of my own fan based if you will which is the sole reason why I will not buy MvC3 because of all of capcoms Megaman references I would rather have him in the game then have Zero or Zero dressing up as X I already have the teams or characters I would use and they would be Spiderman, Tron, Frank West, and Megaman all because of character faith and that's the way I play other fighting games
i have some few team that come from mvc 1 and 2. like ryu, captain america, chun-li, wolverine and morrigan because that got me playing this game. but every team i pick have to have ryu and/or morrigan because that team i pick on mvc 1 and mvc 2. that last reason is because i like old school character.
I have lots of teams speed, power, sexy, but my winning team is the sexy X-23 for speed to hit em before they can do anything, Vergil for speed and power instant kill with his hypers and the last one is Dante for non-stopping combos. I really like the characters, the DMC games and i dont know if X-23 has a game or not if she has it i like it too.
Of course, that's the point. Pick a character you like, practise with that character until you've mastered them and their mechanics and then slowly move on to look for another one until you've found your perfect team. Then it comes down to personal style, depending on whether you like to play aggressive and such. I personally dominate with Vergil seeing as i'm a technical player and i like Vergil. There are many factors, but i believe the most important thing is that you enjoy your characters.
On point I play Dante because I like the DmC games and because he has considerable speed and is a combo whore. On center I have wesker because he is extremely fast and because for some reason he is also a heavy hitting tank. On anchor I play zero because he was the rush king in MvT UA and because he has hit priority over almost anyone. I use the team in general because I am a complete rushdown player. God help me if there is a gap in my attacks though, I can't block for crap.
i use ammy because she's a magic wolf god....'nough said also she is very fun to use, has a great design and sound effects also i love dogs/wolves
i play x-23 because i really like the x-men and i didn't really like wolverine or jean grey also i really like her design and voice in this and her rush down style and ridiculous speed is so much fun to use
and for my 3rd i use strider because i played him in mvc2 still have no idea what game he's from but his design is pretty cool also robot animals!
I pick wolverine cause he is my fav marvel hero and also cause he is good, viewtiful joe cause i love viewtiful joe game and ghost rider cause he got good keep away move...he also is badass

my first game was street fighter the one for super Nintendo, and i wiped the floor with chun li so it's kind of nostalgia. First game for ps2 was devil may cry 1 and i have been a Dante fan ever since. I loved Virgil's bad-ass-sery in dmc 3
I prefer to play female characters not because they are hot, but because guy characters (with a few exceptions) feels slow and clunky where the female characters don't feel that way to me.
i feel him, my instant win team is, dante deadpool and adam west, teams i enjoy more though are pheonix, trish, and spiderman, and then nemesis, captain america, and ghost rider; i always like to switch it up though
Amaterasu, Deadpool, and Dante. I was totally new, and still just play solely for fun, so I chose based upon prior knowledge of some things. A) I love Japanese mythology and Ammy's design so I chose her. B) Deadpool is HILARIOUS to play as, so I just chose him. C) Dante looked cool and worked well with Deadpool. I later changed my main team to X-23, Taskmaster,and Dante after figuring out what worked best and pissed off my friends the most.
Morrigan,Shien-ko and Zero:Im an old school gamer and played Darkstalkers alot,so that was an obvious choice,Zero,well,im a big Megaman,Megaman X and Megaman Zero fan
my team set up superskrull as point man easy combo set ups and lots of options,2nd up mike for great assist and i respect the pipe,and final stand with hulk for super damaging lvl3 x factor.
Also, I'll probably end up playing Ryu or Akuma at some point, but I was really hoping for Ken. He was my first Street Fighter, and Shota Hurricane Kicks are great assists for Cap combos, plus they can make good pointers, especially for double point teams.
Right now I feel like I've picked enough based on loyalty and fandom, and my 3rd character can be about the competitive nitty gritty. That said, I have a real bias against characters I consider truly broken or just cheesy. Yeah, I know I said Vergil, but we'll see what happens with him, and unlike other highs in "Marvel", he's FUN. Thus, in this game, I'm probably not going to exploit turnabout Wright, I'll never ever play Sentinel, and god help me if I play Wesker.
I picked Captain America one because I love the character and because I was familiar with the shota moveset. Vergil was mainly being a small fan of "DMC", but also the fact that he's just so damned fun to play as.
When I used to have Vanilla my team was purely thorough fandom as I was played each of their representative games in the past. My teams were Ryu, Zero, and a cross between Viewiful Joe and Amaterasu. For tech reasons Spider-Man because of the web capture assist helps set up air or ground combo if the situation allows me to do so. But even so most of the characters in Vanilla I had played them in the past,and are really enjoyable to play but as I said the those I chose is 'just cause'.

I like to pick "bad ass" characters, myself. In MvC 2 I used Gambit, Wolverine (Metal Claw) and my third would switch between Megaman and Captain America. I love Gambit and Wolverine, as for the other two, I've just used them since MvC 1 (Going off your "Loyalty" mention there.) I'm not the best player, and I haven't played MvC3 or UMvC3 much yet, but if I was to play right now I'd likely go Wesker, Zero and Wolverine.

I use Phoenix Wright as a main because I love the ace attorney series, plus I think he's a damn good character. I use Nemesis as first assist because he's simple to use, does great damage, and his back heavy has some super armour and makes it easy to get hits. Then I use Chun-Li as second assist because she's fast and good for getting in on keepaway players (unlike Nemesis and Wright) So I think my team is pretty balanced ^^

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was the third 2D fighter I ever played, so I was kind of confused as to who I should have picked. So, I went with Deadpool at point because I love people who are literally insane in video games and I enjoyed his background story. After him, I had Amaterasu because I had seen some pretty sweet Ammy gameplay in a tournament, and I had played the Okami game. Finally, I had Wesker as an anchor because he was obnoxiously easy to play and terrifying with X-Factor.

I've got 3 teams that switch between, and a couple good team ideas. I've started working with a new team made up of Ghost Rider, Dante, and Vergil. I usually ahve Vergil on point because of the shear range of his normals, but I put him last on this team so I start of by utilizing Ghost Rider's zoning. I use Dante because his Jam Session is a great assit for Ghost Rider.

You should really give Sentinel a chace. He was my favorite character in MVC3 and MVC2; however I find it hard to play him anymore, because I've started using a lot of the great new characters in the game, like Vergil Ghost Rider and Iron Fist. I also hardly use Sentinel anymore because of his reduced health; I was so pissed when the designers did that In MVC3 he was my last character; I could whip him out and punish weaker characters with lots of meter. Fortunately he still has great assits.

I agree with you about Wolverine. I don't like him much either because he's not very versitile on a team; he's only meant to be played as a point character. I prefer characters that can fufill any position on a team. One of the good things about Wolverine though, is he's fast as all get out.

I started out playing things based off of nostalgia and just in general what characters I really liked, Like Dante and Vergil because i'm a huge fan of the DMC Series, Same with Zero(but I suck with Zero so I stopped) and then I wanna play Flashy characters that look cool while they play, Like Strider, but now i play x-23/Ryu/Vergil for the same reasons and because I like Shin Hadouken as a DHC <3 theres probably a deeper reason but Whatever. lol

It's funny he mention's unique teams. I personally use Deadpool, Super Skrull and Haggar most of the time and actually enjoy playing with them. Even though their assists are just okay and all three are high risk high reward characters, I manage to win a good amount and enjoy the game.

I use zero for the fact that he is an easy character to learn and he is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. I use Dante because there is so much to work with and he is a cool dude. Then Amaterasu i loved her game and found her to be fun in this game.

In game where you create your own character, I only plays guys, cause it wouldn't be accurate of me to play a female character in those guys. In games with preset characters I will pick the ones I relate to most simply because I will try harder to be better with them. Vergil trying to outshine the overplayed dante, deadpool because 4th wall breaking is hilarious and pheonix cause she just won't stay dead :)

I need a solid third person I can rock with in case of problems sense X23 has low health and Ghost rider is more a mid range fighter. Vergil gives me that by being quick and tough but having higher health then X23.

Why because their DHC's and combos go so well together. All three have great combo potential and they seem real easy to use. The only thing I haven't mastered yet is Jill's Mad Beast. Its real hard to use. Well at least for me anyways. In Ultimate, its the same team, in the first slot, second slot is Spider-Man, Spencer, and Super Skrull because their assists go quite well together. I choose Spider-Man because fun to use. he fits my style.

Vanilla Team - Dante, Deadpool, Akuma. Akuma is my best char, Dante is easy to use, and Deadpool is difficult to escape.
Ulteam - Dante, Akuma, Wesker. Easy to begin with Dante, still love Akuma, Wesker is difficult to beat when XF3 Wesker.

I choose Deadpool because of his many keep-away attacks ( and because he is so funny )
For Doom id say it his partly because of Assist-me but also because of his Deadly corner combo and his mobility and attacks in the air.
For Wesker, it was mainly because I am a huge fan of him and is fighting style is soooo awesome, but Wesker is mainly a "last resort" because he is my best character by far and is moves can counter beam-spamers.

I pick my characters based on fandom initially, and whichever my fan favorites work I stick with. Then I experiment with other characters I find more or less appealing until I find the ones I can play with comfortably right away rather than having to painstakingly learn what the character is all about in order to get decent at him/her

X-23, Zero and my third varies between Dante and Strider.
I use X-23 because she was the first character in Vanilla that i found myself able to use, and she just got better for me in Ultimate, i enjoy how fast her attacks and combo's are too, as well as how well they can flow together.
Zero i wasn't very fond of in Vanilla and even when Ultimate came out, i still couldn't get used too him, but now i find myself using all the time, after using him for a while in training mode, trying to figure--

Dante i use because i love the DMC series, so i guess its fandom, however, that does not mean i don't use him for his rushing play style and flashy combo, i enjoy using Dante alot, forcing my opponents into tight spots is always fun.

I pick chun li all the time, because when I was young, all of my cousins picked ryu, Ken, bison and vega as they're favorite characters in street fighter 2. As little kids, we didn't think it was "allowed" to have the same favorite character. I hated e.Honda, balrog, guile and blanka and dualism because they grossed me out. Lol so I used chun li, and throughout capcom history, (like crossover games) I've grown to adore the first lady of fighting.

My Selection for Characters defines how I want to play, thus, I like using characters that require a little effort put into it in order to make a good game, such as Phoenix Wright's Turnabout mode, and Frank West's Level up system.
The other character I'd use would be either one of these, Ryu, Rocket Raccoon, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Phoenix, Strider, Akuma, Or C. Viper.
However, Not owning the game, I don't know how these characters work in depth, so I wouldn't set this in stone yet.

When it comes to picking characters in any ol' game its usualy based on how they look my favorite MMO is League of Legends and I first decide if I want to try a new champ based on if either its a female or they're adorable. (I'm a guy so yeah don't hate) Then if I see someone play a champion really well but I don't see that champion very often I might decide to start playing them.

In Vanilla I used Dante (Due to being a fan of all 4 DMC games, and how he was virtually the same in MVC3 as he was in his games), Chris (Being a fan of him in RE5, plus his moveset looked interesting). My third was originally Haggard for his pipe and assist, then switched to Nathan after seeing what combo fiend could do with him, as well as his assists. When it comes to UMV3, the part is Virgil and Strider (due to fandom), while searching for a good 3rd technical character.

In vanilla I used super skrull (when the fantastic 4 movie came out I read one of the comics and realized how much he kicked ass) used wolverine(cuz I used him once and he was beast) sentinel for the same reason as wolverine

I just go with the interesting characters. Phoenix Wright is my main (due to my Ace Attorney fanboyism) Ammy (she's easy to use and her visuals are the most striking) and RR (his voice is epic. THIS WEIGHS MORE THAN ME! Anyone?) plus I needed someone with projectiles (PW doesn't really count due to his stance system) X-23 used to be my third but without a character that has some sort of easy to use basic projectile I was finding good keepaway characters to be a nightmare. So RR was drafted in.

For me, I pick characters that have certain things in their movesets that really stand out to me, and make me think "Yes, this is absolutely the character I want to play." Thankfully, Marvel (and Blazblue) has this in spades. But I also need to actually like the character behind it as well.
I'm uncertain of my exact team, but I usually play Phoenix Wright, Sentinel, Hsien-ko, Morrigan, Trish, and Doctor Strange.

I never had vanilla but my team is usually vergil, rocket raccoon and arthur. Always seems like a weird team but I like it. Vergil is nimble but strong, raccoon is just plain nimble, and arthur can go through most ranged peoples attacks. I just picked them because they were fun to play not really anything else.

in vanilla i used amaterasu, deadpool and viewtiful joe, i chose ammy because i saw chuggaconeroy's lp of okami and it looked like a cool game, joe because i watched the anime, and deadpool because he looked funny and my kind of character. but in U i swapped joe with phoenix wright, i saw dsp's lp of pw AA, and it was a better looking game than i expected, and was a pretty funny game. i swaped joe because ammy was also a good short character. so my team is phoenix wright, amaterasu and deadpool.

The only reason I started with these chars was the fact that I had no clue who any of them where, the rest of the cast I have known from ether games or comics.
I learned later that Lie Lie was considered low tier and that made me want to be good with her even more, I like beating people with chars that others don't expect much from.

my team in Zero,Akuma,and Ryu.Zero is in my team cause i love megaman and he was a awsome character in MvC3 and he is just much better to me in UMvC3.Ryu cause i also love street fight and he was my main in all the other MvC games.Akuma cause he was great in street fighter 4 and is still great in UMvC3.their team hyper is great cause Ryu and Akuma can focus on the front while if the enemy tries to jump over Zero can get him with his special. alot think its a odd team but its perfect to me.

I started with Tron Bonne (main in MvC2), Zero (his trailers were badass), and Haggar/Wesker (just cause). I eventually replaced Haggar with Hulk and put him at point instead of Tron, then replaced Tron with Akuma so that I had one tank and two damaging characters. Unfortunately neither Zero nor Akuma had a lot of health, but when UMvC3 came out I found I liked playing Nova and he replaced Akuma solving some of my health issues as a bonus.

Team Auto-Zone: Ghost Rider, Chris, DOOM
Chris and DOOM, in my mind, are BFFs and pretty 'tankish'. Ghost, I like, b/c of his rangy normals and how they fit with the overall zoning style of his team. DOOM's assists are some of the best. Chris' specials immobilize the opponent while dealing chip. The team hyper practically fills the entire screen so there's no escape.
I fashion teams mainly after characters' special moves & health. Then, I worry about synergy from hypers and assists.

For picking my team/character, I normally find about 6 or so that I like the playstyle of and try to make one of them my main and find the other ones that support him best. Right now, I really like how Frank West plays, and I like Ghostrider both in game and out, and Dr. Doom is another I liked. So, off of that, I made Frank my main with Ghostrider Hellfire assist and leave Doom as my anchor with Hidden Missiles to help against heavy keepaway or aggressive characters against Frank.

I was a huge Okami fan, so i picked Amaterasu simply because i thought she was awesome.
I prefer a speedy game style, i like being all over the place and hitting fast, not hard, so i picked Wesker.
And I used to play Megaman when i really young, even Megaman X, so Zero became a natural for me to learn as well.

Deadpool - He is just so lovable and silly. even when you are getting your ass kicked when you hear that trademark "BANG! BANG! BANG! Etc." you just got ti giggle on the inside.
X -23 - i just didnt like the feel of wolverine and she is hotter. also she gave my team one hell of a cross-over if i just want one character to DIE!

I play M.O.D.O.K, Hsien Ko, and Tron.
M.O.D.O.K ia hilarious in every sense and he can be deadly in the right hands. You can pull off very unique combos with him.
Hsien Ko is my favourite Darkstalker character and she is another funny character that can be really effective. Despite what tier lists say I wont drop her from my team.
Tron was a character I've been playing since MvC3 and she is one of the more interesting heavyweights in the game. She does more than just dealing loads of damage.

When I still had my copy of vanilla I based my team of Dante/Chun/Sent off a number of factors, but none of my choices were exactly wise from a gameplay perspective. I've been a fan of Devil May Cry for some time, so I was pretty happy that series got some representation in MvC. When news broke that Dante was also a pretty well rounded character that sealed the deal for me. I've been playing street fighter for a good 3 years now, and I was determined to have a street fighter character in my team

I picked up Ryu in vanilla because I hated him in MVC2 and I really wanted to see him get an upgrade being one of the biggest faces of Capcom. The second I realized you could aim his Shinku-hadouken I was sold. Morrigan has always been the character I played with in Darkstalkers and has all the tools you need to win any match up. Lastly, I chose Spencer because I grew up playing his games and recently had played his newest one on the PS3. They all fit my play style perfectly.

deadpool, zero and sentinel.
i piss people off by playing "keep-away" with deadpool's guns and when they get too close i use zero's ryujen assist and start gunning them down again. in time i eventually pop in a combo using sentinel's drones as assists and constantly switching between deadpool and zero. not really the best strategy but mostly works for me since i'm not a freakin master in long combos.

I based my team entirely around characters that I wanted to try out. X-23 looked cool, I loved Rocket Raccoon's voice (turned out to be Greg Ellis, so no wonder), and Doctor Strange's third colour made him look like Byron Orpheus from the Venture Bros.
Turns out that the team had some pretty wicked synergy.
I'm still a novice at the game, but it's all for fun anyway, and everyone loves seeing the Raccoon on the battlefield.

I am a soul calibur player. And that was the only fighting game I ever played. From soul edge to soul calibur 4, I got really good with solphita. But when umvc3 came out. I picked up a team that was kinda odd. First is Virgil, because I like dmc and he had a sword. Taskmaster because he had a sword, counters are awesome and loved his technical moves. And wesker because he was pretty strong, just needed his fist and pistol, and I though if he was powerful in resident evil 5, he has to be mvc3. T

I pick my characters based on my own personal preference if I were to play MvC 3 all of my teams would consist of my own fan based if you will which is the sole reason why I will not buy MvC3 because of all of capcoms Megaman references I would rather have him in the game then have Zero or Zero dressing up as X I already have the teams or characters I would use and they would be Spiderman, Tron, Frank West, and Megaman all because of character faith and that's the way I play other fighting games

I have lots of teams speed, power, sexy, but my winning team is the sexy X-23 for speed to hit em before they can do anything, Vergil for speed and power instant kill with his hypers and the last one is Dante for non-stopping combos. I really like the characters, the DMC games and i dont know if X-23 has a game or not if she has it i like it too.

Of course, that's the point. Pick a character you like, practise with that character until you've mastered them and their mechanics and then slowly move on to look for another one until you've found your perfect team. Then it comes down to personal style, depending on whether you like to play aggressive and such. I personally dominate with Vergil seeing as i'm a technical player and i like Vergil. There are many factors, but i believe the most important thing is that you enjoy your characters.

On point I play Dante because I like the DmC games and because he has considerable speed and is a combo whore. On center I have wesker because he is extremely fast and because for some reason he is also a heavy hitting tank. On anchor I play zero because he was the rush king in MvT UA and because he has hit priority over almost anyone. I use the team in general because I am a complete rushdown player. God help me if there is a gap in my attacks though, I can't block for crap.

Deadpool: 4th wall breaking was so unique to me for a fighting game and he was quite easy to get the hang of.
Dante: DMC4 was just plain <3 for me (currently due to the anime I just saw not too long ago. And he's a great combo with deadpool for me.
Wesker: Criss didn't do it for me, Jill didn't do it for me, Use him due to RE5 and as an anchor for my XF.

Amaterasu, Deadpool, and Dante. I was totally new, and still just play solely for fun, so I chose based upon prior knowledge of some things. A) I love Japanese mythology and Ammy's design so I chose her. B) Deadpool is HILARIOUS to play as, so I just chose him. C) Dante looked cool and worked well with Deadpool. I later changed my main team to X-23, Taskmaster,and Dante after figuring out what worked best and pissed off my friends the most.

Also, I'll probably end up playing Ryu or Akuma at some point, but I was really hoping for Ken. He was my first Street Fighter, and Shota Hurricane Kicks are great assists for Cap combos, plus they can make good pointers, especially for double point teams.

Right now I feel like I've picked enough based on loyalty and fandom, and my 3rd character can be about the competitive nitty gritty. That said, I have a real bias against characters I consider truly broken or just cheesy. Yeah, I know I said Vergil, but we'll see what happens with him, and unlike other highs in "Marvel", he's FUN. Thus, in this game, I'm probably not going to exploit turnabout Wright, I'll never ever play Sentinel, and god help me if I play Wesker.
