The problem is not in being Gay. It is doing what God as not given and going out of those bounds that will hurt us eventually. Telling the truth is not bullying. Fire, recessions, wars, plagues hurt a lot more when they come because of wickedness.
I would that all men have a deep and abiding "brotherly love" in their hearts. To not hurt others because of their differences. There is no wickedness in Love only in the things we do when we go out of bounds set by GOD in name of that love.
Hello JstNEarthling. Just so you know the name of the angel was "Moroni" not "Maroni" and Moroni told Joseph Smith about a record that was buried in the ground. This record was translated into what we know today as "The Book of Mormon". The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ and it contains a record of the people that inhabited the americas. You can really learn a lot more by visiting Mormon.org, which I suggest so that you don't continue posting misguided information.
@willy2326 keep your gospel crap to yourself ur belief about the book of mormon is another testament of jesus christ its people like u its causes the hate and bullshit to everyone . Im glad people stands up against the LDS .
@domipurcell I was simply making a correction and suggesting them to research more about the church so they could become a more informed individual. I don't consider myself to be someone who "causes the hate" if anything, I do my best to "love thy neighbor as thyself." People are free to stand up against any cause, establishment, religion, government, ect but when the protest or disagreement is fueled by wrong or inaccurate facts/information... how can the individual or group be justified.
Just try to remember who you're talking about. These fools think their "founder" was a pproached by an angel named "Maroni" lol... and that this maroni gave him some tablets to read that told of jesus's visit to the aboriginals and etc. etc. So why would anyone give a shit what cults think of you. Oh I forgot, you're saying "The way "god" made you....never mind...
Of course it's natural. LGBT people do not choose to experience the feeling they do. As this video demonstrates, same sex attraction is very hard for many people. Why would anyone make such a choice? For gay people, same sex feelings are perfectly natural and can lead to the same sorts of wonders (and problems) that straight people experience.
@Sulamith -I am very aware of the history of Mormons. I am not uneducated about the subject, as you say, but that's not the issue here. You said the church sticks its nose in too many issues that affect non-LDS people, I can't think of one that doesn't affect LDS as well as non-LDS people. We are affected by homosexuality as much as non-LDS. Why don't we have the right to fight for what we believe? It's not the church that "sticks its nose in", it's the people that believe it and uphold it.
Right on HRC! If the Mormons are so "pro family" then why are there so many homeless youths in Utah who have been thrown out of their homes because they are Gay. Gay suicides have been happening within the Mormon church for decades. Shame on the Mormon church, you should love ALL your children.
@rbjnla there are zero facts to support this urban myth. This is just like the suicide among teens myth and the antidepressant drugs myth and all other urban myths made up by people with agendas.
@pilottim79 So the five kids who all committed suicide recently actually didn't commit suicide? You should tell their parents. People with agendas like your own don't bother to look at facts and science, they instead choose ignorance as their guide. As for a "Gay Agenda" it is very shocking and to someone ignorant it may even be un-American. Gays want equal rights, thats the big agenda. The very principal our great country was founded on, All men are created equal.
@pilottim79 And as for your "zero facts" statement, I know several who were thrown out of their homes once the parents found out they were gay. Are you denying this happens, that gay kids have been left homeless, that there have been young mormons who have committed suicide because of the intollerant preachings from your chuch? Do you want me to list names? I've heard your "Elders" and been hurt by their ill informed words. Church should lift the spirit, not beat it down.
The problem here is not one bigoted Mormon, it's religion as a whole that has continually bashed the LGBT community. When people can learn to overcome the lies of Christianity itself (and other hate-mongering faiths), we can begin to heal. I personally can't think of anything more counter-revolutionary than a gay Christian or a gay Mormon or gay Catholic.
It's time to rise above the mythology, superstition and plain NONSENSE of religion so that we can heal properly.
@bearchewtoy75 Do you really not understand why? Have you not heard of the little thing called proposition 8 in California? HRC needs to care about this group, but many/most of the adherents take what these leaders say as their god's word, and thus not only *think* in line, but *act*. I applaud HRC's recognition of the underlying problem here, which is more than what it appears on the surface as just mormons being coocoo.
This is dumb! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. . . why are you attacking President Packer for his and trying to enforce yours? The LDS church has standards that they preach and members should live by. Just because they actually have standards they are being attacked. . . no wonder we have a decline in moral standards in this world.
@cectrapol Yes, LDS MEMBERS should keep LDS standards. The LDS church has stuck it's nose into too many political issues which affects non-LDS people. Educate yourself. A decline in moral standards? I disagree. Polygamy, as introduced by your prophet, Joseph Smith, was outlawed. I think that was a good thing. Like I said, educate yourself on the history of Mormonism. That cult was never looked highly upon.
Great! This kind of actions are needed! Especially to be visible in the media, in national and international levels.
There are so many bigots freely attacking gays all over the world, therefore this kind of actions are needed indeed; people to see there are people (gay & str8) that care about LGBT.
I hope this kind of efforts will become more and more popular, visible, sustained by the general public. Way to go!
Everyone's as Good As You! No one's higher, no one's lower! Gay & str8!
I wish the biology of being LGBT would get more attention, rather than the 'god made us this way' argument. Biology is something that is probably unhealthy, in this instance, to try to overcome. Biology is NOT a CHOICE! As an atheist and agnostic, I don't believe any gods play a role in anything whatsoever. I understand the need to 'speak on their level' and what not, but I'd rather focus on facts and evidence - UNBIASED facts and evidence, that is :-P
It just sucks that only ten percent of our nation is gay and therefore cannot be equally represented in congress. That also makes the LGBT community not one that politicians would really want to or need to pander to. There aren't enough LGBT votes to matter to a politician.
Meanwhile, LGBT community is responsible for so many of our society's positive aspects, art, music, science, even politics, that it is to our detriment as a society to ignore their needs.
This gives emotional support and hope to the gay Mormon community that cannot come out because they are afraid for their lives. Mormons will kill them, if not with their words, then with their hands.
@bearchewtoy75 because it's not just the mormons, it's to get national and/or global attention in order to end the hate and discrimination against the LGBT community. being in the LGBT community is not a crime, nor does it mean you are not human or have no rights. This packer guy is basically saying anyone that is LGBT should be lynched and tortured and killed and sadly alot of people follow that same hate filled way of thinking. HRC is trying to get justice and fix the problem.
good job showing symbolism to the public and media HRC( you seem to be good at that) but you know that this act is not going to truly change or advance anything and it will not make the church retract its statements so why waste your donors time and dollars you get from DNC firms etc its amazing you side with a president who is at every turn over turning or filing motions to revoke pro-gay laws and actions and yet you still stand by Obama and the hypocritical DNC..
How come you aren't delivering 150k petitions to Obama's door? How come you still defend a President who has done everything in his power to retard progress on gay rights?
Because the HRC is meant only to deliver gay donors' dollars to the Democrats, who always talk nice and then shit on us.
And you can't blame the evil Republicans. Obama and the Dem Congress had the power to change the game when they came in, and chose not to.
Trust me, I'm trying to help. If you watch my videos, you'll find that I'm one of the biggest heterosexual gay rights activists around. So, if you cooperate with me (over PM, if you want confidentiality), you'll find that I am actually trying to help you.
@SubmarinerAndroid if the church stay out of government we'll go to the white house. Obama never said gay sex is wrong and it must be stopped. dem can change things and will if rep stop with their non-sense
please stop hatting mormons their nicest people. gay marrige is impure. i agree with Elder boyd j packer
