Installing dictators, rigging elections, waging coups, military & financial 'aid' -- all designed to enrich corporations and wealthy elites, like CIA Director Dulles waging a covert war, overthrowing Guatamalan President Mossadegh in '54 to prevent crony-owned United Fruit from being nationalized. Noriega & Saddam installed as US puppets going 'rogue' aren't the exception, resulting in untold misery & death.

I'm from El Salvador our people are like no other in this planet, we may be poor but the size of our hearts and our way of life is unmeasurable, the goverenment of El Salvador has troops in irak and is helping out the United States, so this is a big help to us hopefully they can help out the rest of Latin America and yes even Cuba. Fidel Castro the mean problem not the Civilians of Cuba.

That proves that the Salvadoran government is a puppet democracy of the USA ever since our civil war when they trained the murderers who were fighting the rebels. They did not only kill rebels but also innocent people. The US didn't help change anything in El Salvador the people are still living in poverty. I guess it was only for US interests.

The Salvadorian government was a military dictatorship. And the people saw that the democratic countries weren't going to help them, so they asked the Communists. Please. Don't think that the rebels were Communists because they believed in the Marxist theory. They were Communist because the democratic country, USA, was giving the government, a military dictatorship, arms and financial aid.

Here is an idea. Since we love Israel so much, we should, like them, require ALL citizens of college age to spend several years in either the military or involved in projects like this or the Peace Corp. Perhaps then more of us would be able to muster some compassion for the vast majority of people in the world who really just need something other than to be bombed.

They owe the Salvadoreans a hell of a lot more than a one-time photo op with gringo soldiers. Cuba and Venezuela are the few countries in Latin America that openly oppose the actions of the American government and for that the US has attempted to boycott them and push them out of political influence. For the best, I would like to see American support given without having to consider the political benefits. El Salvador had enough of their involvement during the civil war were the US had hundreds of Salvadorians killed simply because they believed in the idea of Communism.
