G-S was repealed in 1999, and signed by Bill Clinton. A mistake, but not THE reason for the mess we're in. The genesis was the CRA and subsequent liberal pols and activist groups pushing banks to drop common sense vetting to give 100% loans to anyone with a pulse.

Hey, the video is cute, but IMO you should have included ALL parties responsible, including Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, Jimmah Carter, Bill Clinton, on and on.

Again, they were making the loans because laws were passed forcing them to give out loans to folks who normally would not receive them. Democrats were behind these laws. This also enabled folks to purchase numerous properties with no-down, which they could then give a quick face-lift and flip for a tidy profit.

None of this would have happened without the CRA.and Democrats trying to make home ownership a "right" for folks that simply should not have been signing loans, let alone been offered no-down 100% loans with no income verification whatsoever. That  process created the atmosphere that many folks later took advantage of. Caused home prices to balloon insanely, and created the "flip" culture. To demonize bankers is to completely miss the point.

BTW, the bonuses were in their contracts legally, and Chris Dodd wrote an amendment to the "stimulus" bill to assure that those bonuses would be paid. The attempt to tax them 90% is unconstitutional, and will be knocked down. How would you like it if Congress targeted your legal income with a "bill of attainder"?

Where's Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Franklin Raines, Maxine Watters, ACORN and Jimmy Carter, who created the sub-prime mess in the first place? The bankers didn't want to give out these ARM, no-down risky loans. They were forced to by Democrats!
