I stopped playing when aimbots became rampant. What I'm seeing is idiot cheaters already have aimbots for quakelive too. Only way to beat an aimbot is to use an aimbot. No thanks.

It is downloaded and installed as a browser plugin, so you essentially install and play it from the browser. Just go to the site (quakelive com), register and when you decide to start playing, it'll do everything for you.

@xpap3rclipx Playing Quake Live today. Was introduced earlier this week with OpenArena, and that shit required MAD EFFING REFLEXES... even more than Unreal Tournament...

I prefer Battlefield and Counter-Strike over Call of Duty for very good reasons, mainly myself being way more annoyed with COD (especially on the PC) than any other multiplayer game I've played, just because of the lack of feeling as if I'm getting much out of COD thanks to the constant bonus points, etch.

I think Halo is the only modern game that has the same level of gameplay.

Map control, Aim, Spawn item control and so on.

@Dylstew2 Quake 1 really got people playing online shooters in 1996. Quake 2 and Unreal competed in 1998 but neither really stole the hearts of gamers from Quake 1, so id and epic both shipped online only shooters in 1999, Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. I think UT shipped first by a week or so. It was a real pepsi vs coke thing going on.

@Dylstew2 To each his own sir, there's a reason both are popular. I always throught Quake was about speed and minimalism, and UT was about intense customization (mutators) and gameplay options (weapons, secondary fire).

That said, I think UT (the original) is the best of the UT games. You should try it if you've never played it, but UT 2004 manages to encompass most of it's content.

UT3 just sucks.

But since I have UT 2004 I don't see a point in buting 1999 It's just uglier and probably has less stuff because it's older.

It felt less "cartoonish" than UT2004, lacking the adrenaline and such, darker art. Otherwise it's very similar. UT3 feels a lot different.

If you're 14, you probably missed out on Tribes. It's basically UT with huge maps, ctf, jetpacks, and vehicles. Tribes 2 i a free download (called tribesnext) and tribes ascend is going to come out as free later this year. Look it up. Awesome series.
