@reivenlocke It's funny BECAUSE he looks ridiculous. I wish American comedians were desperate enough to try this kind of shtick. This video is not a great example of his comedy, though. He was known for appearances on variety TV shows, the music was just a sideline money grab.

He's cemented himself as an "ippatsuya" in Japan and is constant 1st and 2nd round exit in the comedy tournaments. Only non-Japanese that get a hard-on for anything Japanese find him even remotely funny. And someone in the US does his schtick...he's Carrot Top..the most hated comedian in America. But to his credit, his entire act isn't based on one gesture.

@reivenlocke no bullshit intended. Dandy had his day, as did Carrot top. Both are past their prime, that doesn't mean they were never funny or popular. Dandy was good for a laugh before his act went dry (the dozens of shows he appeared on attest to this), then he went away. Nothing wrong with that. Congratulations on living in Japan, but it's pretty obvious you don't know that much about their entertainment industry :P

It's pretty obvious you try to act like you do and you stick to ignorant statements like stink to a monkey rather than own up to the fact that you are just waxing Japanophile.

If you get tapped on the shoulder to be a "geinojin", you appear on "dozens of shows" because they throw dozens of people on there...it doesn't mean you're popular...it means you were chosen. And Sakano didn't even last as long as the average ippatsuya. While HG and Kojima lasted 18 months, he lasted a year.

He tried competing in an owarai tournament on TV a couple weeks ago. He BARELY made it past the 1st round and just savaged in the 2nd round and eliminated. You could hear a mouse fart in the audience because it was so quiet for his unfunny routine.
