i saw rory 6 times and met him in barcelona. he invited me to the show so i helped set up the stage with tom o'drisscol (sp) and watched the sound check...what a great guy...will always be a good memory....had a couple of beers with the band after except rory. he was just worn out from he show...could have went to madrid with them but didnt...what a bad mistake...
Another new one to me. WOW every time I hear Rory. The accordian works great in this. I would probably sell my soul to the devil if I could have heard Rory live. In my humble opinion he makes all the rest look rather mundane and boring. What a live performer he was!
Yeah, Mr. Lee's name is Ted McKenna, This Concert is on the Rockpalast Rory Collection with 5 Concerts from Germany, Rory's truely the best, i saw him 8times live ;-)
@sebz61 that's what i thought at first..but you have to admit...this makes an accordion an instrument worthy of the blues, rory wouldn't have included it if it didnt fit.....Yes or No? I say yeah...
ooohoo this is a 18 on the coolness monitor & it stops @ 10. just the way he starts it off makes you just go ooh sheittt & then you shiver at the greatness you are having the privlidge of see & listen to .man i got to go get my guitar............
Agree : there's really no one like Rory. He kept true to blues tradition in many ways, never stole anything, and was on a nice slow track to joining the Greats. He didnt use his power to bring the Blues greats to him, THEY summoned HIM, which takes him clean outta Clapton-ville.
Clapton is a purist bluesman which is not a bad thing in itself but his concerts are now boring, the songs all have the same format, he does NOT interact with the audience and there is no energy in his sets, all of which is ok only for a purist blues audience. Gallagher 'gave' himself to the audience, his sets were dynamic from start to end and I think Rory was a far superior writer of original blues song as opposed to being good at covers. Gallagher was doing while Eric was doped up all day.
@daviegarden I agree completely. Plastic may be a bit harsh, but I can find a thousand guitarists that are equal or better than Clapton...... Can't find a single one that can hold a candle to Rory. And that's my honest, unbiased opinion. Eric Clapton is good, but way over rated, and what HITS does he really have? Not that many..... Rory has so many great songs it's hard to keep track. Its not a contest though.....They are both musicians, so they're A-OK!!

Although Ted was in an earlier version of Rory's band, in this video it's Brendan O'Neill who we see on the drums...
