I had one once when I was little thinking it was regular chocolate. Lol. It was nasty as hell. It was Kahlua I think. Stock up on things like gloves, vitamins, medicines, pocket knives. Those are good bartering materials.

I like it. People do not realize how chocolate and alcohol (in moderation) can be healthful and/or save a stress filled day. Question How long will this stuff store???

There's nothing I personally would barter for these, but good idea for small things you might want. The only criticism is that i don't see people giving up actual food or medicine or supplies for chocolate with liquor. Just seems like a luxury rather than a need in a SHTF scenario.

just an idea but the bags of cig tabacco and some rolling filters and a cig maken thing would be cheaper then buying packs and you would get more that way just a thought .

have alcohol and cigarettes as barter . the average yobbo will sell his car for some smokes and alcohol during shtf. worth having some in your survival stores

How about: gold or silver rounds or junk silver, sewing kits, 22lr ammo, airplane bottles of liquor, first aid kits, canned goods, fishing kits/hooks, perfume, playing cards, fiction novels(escapism), Gideon Bibles, cloth, ponchos, etc etc. Useful items plus a few luxury items that may have value. After SHTF, the best thing you can do is start a barter economy to rebuild some sense of civilization again....

I like this idea very much. Other good ideas for barter items are coffee, cigs (will be worth their weight in gold after SHTF due to their limited shelf life), and toilet paper.  Ammo and guns will be worth a lot.

@how2findtruth Cocaine addicts will die from withdrawal or kill for cocaine rather than barter. It is a nasty drug with nasty addicts. Marijuana I can see, but I personally would advise against it pre-SHTF unless you're willing to take the legal risk. It would be easier to just buy the seeds and grow it than keep bags lying around due to deadly mold that just loves weed.

i dont drink or smoke but i do keep a few bags of rolling tobbacco and some bottles of alcohol for trade. i also keep fem products, toiletries, soaps toothbrush toothpaste stuff, razors, flashlites, pocket knives, and spare small tarps, emerg blankets, first aid supplies, etc..., all for trade items, basically anything i get for me i also get some for trade except food i dont trade food or give it away. i do trade water because i can filter unlimited amounts.

In a real SHTF situation women would make good commodities for barter. I know this is not politically correct but u have to think of every angle in such situations. If u got any in ur household just make sure u keep em clean n healthy. They'll pay for themselves in the long run.

They would but they don't have a long shelf life. Liquor is the way to go though (chocolate above will go bad as well)

@AsTheSunSets777 make sure you have forward operating points that are stocked with ammo and supplies. you dont want to be using ammo from your pack. When it goes down, it would be a bit better to have your camp spread out at these forward points and fall back to the main residence if needed. Hold that outer perimeter!

I stare at the house that i am living in and wonder, What changes could be made to defend it better. The only things i can come up with would be to remove all the windows completely and build a crows nest to the roof that i could defend the house from if i stayed. I dont really feel that staying is a good option living on the west coast.

And by the way yes these can get you. A few years ago on some T.V show they tested to see if it's possible to get drunk off alcohol filled chocolate and found out it was possible.

lol, it's just one of them French things(I know a little French...in case I ever need to make a convincing surrender, ha ha ). It's pronounced kind of like "Gran Mar-nee-ay" in the atypical nasal French :).

I keep meaning to make it to the liquor store to start stocking up on 151; Great for drinking, burning and sanitary reasons. Would also work for some bartering, as well I'd imagine.
