thank you this video was very helpful. i've been in japan for a few months now and i know that japan needs to grow up a bit in this sense. the divide between men and women is so clear here and i am so shocked at the state of it. as a woman i've been talked to or seen just as an object and similar things have happened to me like you have described on your video. i hope more people see your video it is very informative.
@eurasianGirl12 - I'm sorry to hear that your experience has been not all positive. I think unfortunately, Japan is really behind the times in this area. I hate it too but I've just had to remember it's not about me- they treat all women like this. It doesn't justify the sexism at all but after I realized it's not really personally about me, it helped me deal with it more. Best of luck and get in touch if I can be of any help.
Where you've worked in Japan, are there many women co-workers? I could understand how maybe the men wouldn't think how sexual harassment is embarrassing and offensive, but do the women also stopped inviting you to meetings or telling you about deadlines after you stood up to the harasser?
@SayuriLady You definitely bring up a good point. I worked in a place with probably 10% women in a very male-dominated field. I should have mentioned that in the video. The company was pretty typical: women were secretaries and the men were in charge, so no women became involved directly with the harassment. All the trouble was strictly from the men.
