This is from the very first season of the show (1971-72), and the three girls from the original Short Circus singing along with Rita are Irene Cara (a.k.a. Iris), Melanie Henderson (a.k.a. Kathy) and June Angela (a.k.a. Julie).

Yes, particularly the first two years of the show, Rita did a lot of musical numbers like this with the girls from the Short Circus. This song appears on the 1972 soundtrack for The Electric Company, as does another number, "D", with June, Melanie and Irene. In the second season, when Denise Nickerson ("Allison") replaced Irene, they did songs like "Blue Blob Blues" and "Go Wild."
