While perhaps Jackson and Davison did not have the chops (at least at this point) of Lake and Palmer, the Nice is a much more creative and inventive band than ELP. Unfortunately their albums did not quite capture the magic of their live performances (I have a tendency to blame Immediate Records for that).
The group didn't relegate Davy, he did it himself. he had crippling stage fright combined with massive drug abuse. The guys wondered sometimes if he would actually turn up to a gig. In fact one time the roadie had to go and rouse him to get to the Marquee for one gig. Once he was out and couldn't manage to keep another job he got the idea that the Nice was his band and tried to promote the fact by releasing discs "Featuring Davy O'list". he wasted his own talent, but really he didn't fit in.
Not that version. This version with O'List is "Azrael (Angel Of Death)" as it was released on the single. "Azrael Revisited" would not be released until 1969 which was more piano dominated than organ/guitar.

Poor Lee Jackson, he just couldn´t sing - or should have waited to the punk era.

Really great to see this super rare footage, but absolutely shameful that they had relegated O'List to non-entity status.

So good to see this. I used to go to their weekly performances at the Marquee. Great days.

Carl Palmer is a much better singer than this guy.

You can never see Davy O'List in these things. You can see his guitar, but never him. It seems to be the camera man's choice too--odd!

@GaryXGomes
Maybe they knew he was on his way out the door, or they told the camera man that.

It's odd to see Lee not playing his usual Vox bass.

Fantastic! I'm constantly amazed that these gems keep appearing, and I'm grateful to everyone who takes the time and trouble to post them.
Just for something to say, isn't this Azrael Revisited? And David O'List is in there too. Not that it matters - it's great to see it!
