  • Two Words,, Fucking Dumbass

  • It's a day and night job and I wouldn't change it one bit. I love being a volley. Be safe out there ladies and gentlemen.

  • Only firefighters will get this...but firefighters pee in a clockwise direction!

  • @PAPPAS14 haha please explain...

  • @commdiver55 When your putting a fire out. You rotate the hose/nozzle in a clockwise direction on top of the fire or direction of fire. that way the smoke it drawn away from you.

  • I'm a volunteer fireman in CT and I pulled this one elder guy out of a car and 8 weeks later, you forget their faces and he came in and he gave me a big ol hug and a wet spot on my shoulder. That's our pay. It's like a million dollars pay in that experience

  • At 0.44 seconds. You know how I know hes not a paramedic??? PARAMEDICS DONT CALL THEMSELVES EMT'S!

  • Comment removed

  • Did you know that people such as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were volunteer firefighters? Back when the fire service began at the start of our country it was a total voluntary service. I'm not saying paid or volunteer is better, after all when the call comes in dispatch doesnt say we need a paid or volunteer department on scene, they need firefighters and thats what we all are.

  • most paid fire fighters start out as vol fire fighters first then work there way to paid or become paid

  • @mikeludkeus thats how i did it, i was a volunteer for 6 years before i was hired as a full time firefighter, and even now i still volunteer

  • Nice Video stay safe-2-8-0 Dix Hills Fire Dept

  • you ask 100 paid career fireman why they are doing this job ....and i gaurantee not a single one of them says just for the paycheck....we all do it for the same reason...its a brotherhood

  • @Bogner2009 Exactly. They just like to get paid for what they do making it the only job they do pretty much. Vollies have jobs on the side and that's cool too.

  • ok......im getting the vibe that your sitting here honestly whining because obviously some career fireman must have really pissed you off.....theres always gonna be the fued between paid and volunteers....the fact of the matter is....volunteers are in it just for the help....paid fireman...were most likely volunteers before and just happened to receive a paying job doing what they love....we all do it for the same reason...getting paid is just a benefit..

  • the way i see it is A FIREFIGHTER IS A FIREFIGHTER weather they are paid or not im a volunteer firefighter but id love to make a living doing what i love to do the most

  • i would much rather volunteer than get paid. it aint about the money..

  • im a volenteer fireman. theirs a guyin my station who ran into burning buildings WITHOUT scba's. hes gone in alone before. and most of the time he has on a sweater. which is highly flamable.

    my station gets disrespected CONSTANTLY.

we've had our station vandalized before. their was a trailer out back and someone lit it on fire. some of our guys have their own buisinesses, or work in town.(which is VERY hard) they struggle with the jobs they have, so that if that whistle blows, they can respond

  • i have a question about vol. FF,if you get a call are you aloud to put your emergency lights on and rush to the fire house/fire scene?

  • @NIGHTRIDER995 Yes, you can run emergency lights to the fire house/scene if the department gets dispatched. In NY we run blue lights only, but we have to follow the same rules as civilians (no speeding, no tailgating, stop at red lights, etc.). My department issues a blue light card to volunteers 18+, which can be revoked if it's abused. It's a privilage, not a right.

  • @NIGHTRIDER995 depends on the state. In NC, no! you are allowed to run red lights, no sirens (except chief) but they are courtesy lights, nothing more, can't speed, run stop lights etc. Now once I get to the station and get a truck then its a little different. I got lights, horns, sirens etc. I have to stop at all stop signs, lights, etc, but public must give me the right away. Once they do I can go thru the light. Still have to obey all traffic rules.

  • @tugboat1995 ok thank you ill be checking in on that becuz i drive by my self in jan

  • Get a job will you, I hear vollys say all the time. I wish somebody would start a fire. So we can have something to do. Heres an idea go be a paid fireman I bet you would never hear a "real" fireman say that

  • @supersix15 That's because they get paid to sit around the firehouse and wait for emergency calls. Plus paid departments are paid for really 2 reasons. 1 is that they have a higher population or more prone to having fire potential emergencies and 2 is the department runs more calls non emergency and emergency (a fire) than most volly departments so the need for them to be at the station and on hand is a must. So no they wouldn't say that. As a volly since that's not the case for most companies.

  • I respect all volunteers as much as any other paid firefighter/EMT because they do the SAME job but they don't accept a paycheck for it. They do it out of the goodness in their hearts...

  • salute him for being a firefighter and im in the process of becoming one but is he serious with driving with 2 hands?

  • They gave him number 53 cuz thats how much he weighs

  • this kid needs to get laid...

  • volunteer firefighters... paid what they are worth... nothing!!!

  • @yankeefan5250 suck a dick

  • @yankeefan5250 now that's not nice.we mean a lot to small towns like the town im in.so dont go saying we are worth nothing because we are not.we mean a lot.

  • @yankeefan5250 Funny cause more than half of all firefighters in America are volunteers...Your just mad that you weren't accepted!

  • @b747dude hahahaha so tru bro! Most people don't realize that like 80% of departments n the US r volley....

  • @blueceligts180 then look at Germany, 96% of our departments are voluntary ;)

But in this country things are different. Vol. firefighters here have to fight against a bad reputation though without us the whole country would burn down or drown. You even risk your job if you write this hobby in your application. Because the companies just think of their profit (in case of emergency, the worker is not productive). Perverted capitalism.

  • @yankeefan5250 thats the dumbest thing i read on here. vol. and paid companies all use the same equipment and use the same strategies...70% of the firee departments in america are vol.

  • @yankeefan5250 -shut the fuck up ass clown,

  • @yankeefan5250 We are Completely volunteer, 9 engines and trucks. Answer in excess of 75 calls a month. We all have full time jobs outside the dept. And the number that counts the most...ISO rating of 2. NYC doesn't have one that good!

  • @tugboat1995 You are a complete dumbass! "NYC doesn't have one that good!" makes you a complete tool.

  • volunteering was my way of giving back to my community. we are proud to help others without pay. if u must be paid to save lives than step aside there are plenty of us out there to do your job voluntarily...

  • your the towns fire department and you dont get paid, thats retarded. At least the main places say over 50 000 have full time crews, places say, between 30 000-50 000 have full time day crews, then retained (on call) guys for night (all paid) and the only volunteer are the rural fire service who look after bush fires out side established town centres

  • I am a volunteer fire fighter in Oklahoma. We work hand in hand with career and volunteers all the time. But just because someone isnt paid doesn't mean they are not as good. We cover 9 times the area and 3 times the population of the career department in town. We get far more calls and we even beat the career guys to the scene in their own district sometimes. But I would take 1 volunteer over 5 career fire fighters on a wildland fire because the career guys think it isnt worth their time.

  • Funny thing how I run with a department who is 100% volunteer yet have a Guy who works for DCFD and a guy who works for FDNY both VOLUNTEER for us... Volunteer or paid shouldn't make a difference...

  • 2 ears 1 mouth.

  • I gotta say firemen are firemen who cares if they get a check at the end of the week or not, its for one purpose to save lives and help people.

  • @ TherlRescueFirefighter I work both full and volly as a fire/medic. our volly dept. has the same if not better training and drills than many full time dept.'s. while a lot of volly dept.'s do suround and drown many do not. we get inside and get it done. sorry the fd's in your area are a bunch of pussies, maybe someday you and them will grow a pair.

  • Well lets get some things here straight 1firerescue8 when you put down paid depts you are criticizing the 343 career firefighters that gave it thier all on 9/11. So take your fucking comment and shove it up your fucking ass.

  • @BigE3600 and when you put down the volunteer fire fighters, you are putting down the ones who died for no reward but to know that they made the ultimate sacrifice trying to save a guy that is high as a kite and accidently set his apartment on fire, or the elderly woman who forgot she was making food in the oven. either way, a paid or volly will make the ultimate sacrifice. so you have no right to put down volunteers for giving their time to make their community a little safer.

  • why volunteer, why not?

  • Douchers. The End.

  • My fd is one of the few where the daytime staff (paid) work very well with us volunteers. Around here, if you are on a piad department you are also generally a volunteer somewhere else as well.

  • i love being a volunteer, pulling in to the firehouse with the house siren blowing, really gets the blood pumping!

  • hey so are we all us firefighters down in rockland are all vollunteer

  • hey i am a firefighter in Broadalbin N.Y and i love being a volenteer fire fighter

  • Paid or Volunteer it doesn't MATTER A FIREFIGHTER IS A FIREFIGHTER!!

  • @MuziqSoul114 I disagree. Ask anyone who has gone from volly to paid - it's a completely different game.

  • paid or vol it dont matter but paid guys to get more training in my fd they train 8 hours a day

  • @timberland1108 you are less likely to get paid guys in training on a days off, or go do extra trainings outside the department unless they get paid to be there. I think total training by the end of the year would probably equal out the same if you compared it to my volunteer station, we train everyday or at least try too

  • @jcfpd8068 The paid staff handles all the training. If a vol. station wants to do a training they can and the paid staff will help if needed. But the vollys in my station do not do anything but sit on there ass. So yea i am thank-full for the paid staff im not the type of volly to fight over witch is better but i just think the vollys in my fd need to step it up/.

  • paid or vol it dont matter

  • Wow. I got a call while I was watching this. I just got back.

  • it's like this video was made to make people feel sorry for him. boo frikkidy hoo! you have to get up at 3 am every once in a while and so does every other fireman. i just dont like seeing a 17 year old talk like he's been a fireman for 10 years... where has tradition in the fire service gone????

  • I honestly think this kid needs spend some time on the job to give a truthful explaination of what it means to be a fireman..he's a probie dont get me wrong its great he's getting involved and doing its great rewarding job but half the things this kid is saying is so far fetched

  • What they don't talk about are the kids with 100 deg fevers and the drunks who want a ride at 3 A.M.

  • Sweet XJ at :45!!

  • hey bud i feel the same way you do... im a jr fire fighter with the Fort Ashby Fire Co 37 i love it alot.. but the one thing about it is tht i dont like about my company is tht we are not aloud to run pov lights....... i will go on any calls anytime of the day or night.... no matter wht......

  • why volunteer to be a firefighter it is a rush one min you are relaxing then you are going full speed in inot a house fire

  • Can anyone help me out with this one? I am considering joining my local FD now if I get voted in can any of you guys who are seasoned fire fighters tell me what the newest and lowest ranking member on the totem pole typically does? I am assuming that there is some sort of due paying system that I will have to do. Anyone who can fill me in I would appreciate it.

  • @tempo1889 each dept is different. We put new guys on a 6 month probation. during that time they wear an orange hat that tells everybody around I'm new and don't have a clue. During their 6 months, we train them. At the end, they are given a yellow helmet and are a trained(new) firefighter. They know how to use the gear and have been signed off by the chief to enter a burning structure. No rank now, just a firefighter.

  • @tugboat1995 we take em from the first day after basic training as they are. Firefighters. They get tasks behind the "frontline" whenever possible but we send them in the first line if necessary. Together with experienced leaders. My second call after basic training was a big fire on a grange. I stood right behind the first team in the burning structure. It proved to be the best training. Though one of us had a first call on a heavy traffic accident. It was a worst case situation for him :D

  • @tempo1889

You're basically the fire house bitch. You do what they want, when they want it done. Trust me, I've only been in it for a year, I know how it is ;)

BUT, that's a way to earn their trust and respect. Either suck it up or find something else to do.

  • I can't believe that in a country as rich as the U.S. you don't get paid. Stay safe and god bless.

  • @Adambrew

A lot of communities in the USA don't need paid guys considering their call volumes are so low. These guys on the other hand, I'm not sure. They get a whole lot of calls.

  • @abzvinny318 In the UK we have whole timers and the retained. I'm in the retained but we still get paid a bit for what we do. I can't imagine many of us doing it for free as much as I love my job. We've had nearly 200 jobs this year so we're always busy. Much respect to you if you do it for nothing.

  • @Adambrew I don't understand why people are so obsessed with money. I have a nice house, a car and a family and I am happy with life.

  • @NVTrucker I understand. I'm not obsessed with money but I couldn't afford to be retained (volly) in the fire service if they didn't pay me a bit. I'm self employed and can't go rushing off just like that for no recompence. I need to keep my house, car and family ! We have a different system in the UK. Kudos to you.

  • @Adambrew

    Adam,

I must apologize. I was not directing my comment at you. It was directed at the worldwide fascination with money. It seems like enough is never enough for many people. I moved out of Las Vegas to a VERY small town (~3000 ppl) because I got so tired of watching everyone trying to keep up w/ the Jonses. So please don't think it was directed at you. I just think people would be so much happier if they volunteered some time instead of chasing wealth constantly. Cheers!

  • @NVTrucker

Thank you for your kind response, a rare thing on YouTube, in my experience! There is no need to apologize at all. I am glad that you have made a move for the better and I really hope it works out for you. I would be very happy to work for an exchange of services. Maybe a local builder could do some work on my house and a local farmer could give me some food now and again. But, you are right, we should all offer our free time for the better of our communities. Cheers to you!

  • @Adambrew cool

  • see the big piece of cribbing 1:29 lmfao not NEEDED

  • @firefightermoore : its a door wedge, its needed.

  • Way to go! awsome vid! vollie all the way!

  • excellent video man. check out my departments volunteer demo run.

  • hey anyway u can make a copy of this so i can use it for recruitment and detention? for my depart

  • @81scap thats not how it is.. your looking at it all wrong..

  • Not real firemen LMAO. We see a lot of career departments do window firefighting or say let it burn through the roof then we can use our ladder truck. I would put my volunteer department against any full time department any day!

  • @1firerescue8 how do you start your own volunteer fire dept, where do youu get the funds, Who train you guys. Im thinking of starting one, i need to know the political red tape you have to deal with.

  • @11xr1east

It's probably best to join one and try to become chief of that fire company after a few years.

  • idiot..that is all

  • idiot..that is all, funny volunteers bashing fulltimers, just angry you didnt make the cut I guess.

  • @1firerescue8 i dont know what the fuck your thinkin or how it is where your from, but ive worked in both a volunteer and now i work in a career station, as a volunteer it was, let it burn and it will be easy, as a career firefighter its get it, get out, move on to the next call...simple as that, career firefighters have twice the skill set and twice the training...

  • @TheRescueFirefighter you apparently sucked as a volunteer. I have been one for 24 years and never let anythign burn

  • @TheRescueFirefighter you apparently sucked as a volunteer. I have been one for 24 years and never let anythign burn

  • @1firerescue8 Amen. we have an old mill from the 1890s that cought up a while back. the mutual aid career department wanted to let it go because they claimed "it was to far gone", but thats not how we work. we fought and put it out and saved the building. same thing happened again with a barn, we saved it. i too would be willing to put my volunteer department against any career department

  • @1firerescue8 the full time departments dont take risks there is nothing like running into a burning house and putting it out while saving anyone inside.

  • @1firerescue8 You obviously havnt been to a real career department. It doesnt MATTER IF YOUR A VOLLY OR CAREER!!! THEY BOT SAVE LIVES!!

  • shouldnt matter what you drive, the job we do, as a firefighter has no reflection on that but only the job we do. good vid

  • Brother, one word "FANTASTIC"...showed this video to several guys at our house and seriously your video should be used for a promotional video for others to join the volunteer service, whether its for your dept or someone elses.....outstanding...and your right there is no compensation for us but within the brotherhood itself...however someone asked me once what I get outta this...ANSWER "the smile from someone who sees what we do on a daily basis and says thank you" thats also great to hear.

  • a great one

  • the kind that risks THEIR life to save YOURS...personal vehicles to a volunteer i sno more then a means of transportation to the scene or fire house
