  • Does anybody else ever scratch their head and wonder when people become so stupid. The word for this song isn't racist, it's satire. For example; Youtube comments are intelligent, coherent and enlightening. Youtube is fantastic because most users are quick and witty and very little needs to be explained or spoon fed to them. Very little time is wasted in frustration, trying to explain even the most mundane and simplistic concepts. Most people on Youtube are very coherent and have common sense.

  • The same immigration problem is still going on and even worse today...when will they do something about it?

  • @justinelust777 NOT A THING..

  • fuck this song. i fuckn hate phil collins voice too i wanna rip his throat out. VIVA ATZLAN

  • @ronjeremyismydad This song isn't anti-latino, it's not anti-immigrant or anti-mexican. Didn't you listen to the lyrics?

  • Glenn Beck's favorite Genesis tune.

  • This may possibly be one of the most cheezy, stupid songs ever written

  • It seems that nobody realizes this song is comically racist.

  • @evilfindish

You are the one comically blind. This was the 80's. He was trying to bring awareness.

Amnesty has been given. And It really bugs my butt, when I see people of the same culture, treat them like a lesser person. The legal mexicans pour their work on to the backs of the illegals with threats of deportation. Extort money from them, and the legals marry illegals so they can have free pass back to Mexico as an American citizen...and leave the spouse behind if there is any trouble.

  • Mexico was created by the people and politics of their kind. This is exactly why it"s a corrupt country and adding of course, many of those same people become illegal aliens, in the United States, bringing their corruption and crime ridden lives with them, then being our major problem. They vote uneducated for democrats which only want their vote in corruption, like Mexico.

  • @canyonart1.. La gente educada, preparada y trabajadora q está sacando adelante a Mexico tambien te quiere y te respeta mi estimado amigo. Dios te bendiga.

  • @extreme705 muy bien contestado

  • @canyonart1 Your understanding of history is as Hegemonic US as the power elite would want. What ideas do you have that haven't been fed to you? Your PhD was in what field of Economics, Sociology, Anthropology?

  • mike rutherford is way too tall to pull off looking mexican.

  • there's a portion of this song that was taken out....why?

  • @alpacino92780 ....Let me guess the part about his sister.

  • @richiebear1969 thats it

  • That guy looks like a mexican that never did drugs!

  • So don't tell anybody what I wanna do.

If they find out, they'll never let me through.

Because it's no fun being an illegal alien.

It's no fun being an illegal alien.

Come you're scaring me now...it's no fun being an illegal alien! XD

  • SO politically incorrect. I love it. : )

  • Ok ya'll, you're missin' the really big picture here. A. This is just a really fun video of a serious issue. It's from the view of every Mexican trying to get a better life, which believe me, they don't have a great life down there, and here's America right next door. Where would YOU go??

  • Illegals should be shot......

  • @BigPapaPumpSS totally agree with ya...

  • This song is in Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Ipod.

  • @mrbenfrancis hahahahaha

  • He looks kinda like pretend-Hitler with that dead skunk on his head....

  • Genesis threw it all away

  • I stroll down the street the exact same way when I listen to this song :)

  • It's the Alabama state anthem

  • me:WAIT I FORGOT TO TELL PHIL SOMETHIN HAND ME THAT PHONE

    phil: YEAH?

    me: IMMIGRATIOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The immigration office is very much like the DMV.

  • @rko815 and vice versa! ;)

  • So lame!

  • @arbraulin FUCK U

  • A great song from the 80's to go with, Wall of Voodoo's, Mexican Radio.

  • Great video. Remember it was 1983. People actually had a sense of humor.

  • @juancatfish1 What happened?

  • @juancatfish1 very true, very true

  • @juancatfish1 Roger (Pink Floyd) Waters complained about Genesis once. "And as for Genesis and THAT song ("I Can't Dance"), and that stupid walk.. You'd never catch Bob Dylan writing a song like that". To which Phil replied: "Roger failed to see the humor in it. I think Roger fails to see the humor in alot of things".

  • Tony Banks looks a lot like Dennis Eckersley with that fake 'mustachio' on.

  • Yes, we were ALL less sensitive in the early 80's, but damn, this is a well-written song.

  • I made the mistake of reading some of the comments for this video. Most people making comments are too yoing to remember, but I recall Phil Collins making a statement about this song being a mockery of the US INS concentrating on Central American migrants. Meanwhile, none of the members of Genesis where US citizens and could pass as citizens if they chose to come to the US illegally (as long a s they didn't speak). How true this turned out to be on 9/11.

  • Everything about this song is so ironically true. These illegal aliens just want to hold out their hand in America and expect everything handed to them for free. He was referring to illegal aliens that happen to be coming through Mexico, which are the ones this country has the most problems. If you are of Mexican descent and legally in the U.S., this song hasn't anything to do with you, so stop complaining about something that does not apply to you.

  • spanish speaking fuckers should go back.

poor illegal aliens are ruining life for poor whites.

  • @monk22yrs and you should shut up and wait till you mature to THINK your opinion and then express it

  • @MrMrEFE and you of course are not only a young snot nose, but a latino, with maybe some german nazi blood in you, since argentina has had a lot of nazis.

if usa should go spanish speaking, argentina should become 50 percent english speaking----makes lots of sense to me.

  • @monk22yrs Yes, i am latino and proud of it. And yes, maybe there's nazi blood in my veins... so what? Theres nothing i can do about it dude. And, supouse Argentina becomes english speaking. So what? None of your arguements have anything to do with the fact that you are a racist and a xenophobic.

  • @MrMrEFE yeah, it's soooo racist for somebody living in a country of a certain language to not want it to change to another language.

racist for israelis to not want german for their new language, or for italians to not want french, or for chinese to not want japanese.

    they're all racists!

  • Some of you need to lighten up. I dont give a crap if you make fun of my nationality.

  • Worst Genesis song ever. Also racist and completely distorted view of Mexico (even back then).

  • @lambcrawler you know its all true but dont want to admit it am i right, lol jk, well its not rasist, infact your probable more racist then they were, and how can you say worst, GENISIS HAD NOW BAD SONGS!!! so i dont know what you are talking about.

  • I didn't realize the UK had an immigration problem with Mexicans entering the County. The Queen probably shit a burrito when she found out.

  • I dont know anout anyone elnce, but i typed in Mexican national anthem and this popped up.

  • It is nice song but crappy clip. Mexicans are proud nation. They don't need american or english compassion.

  • A nice video from a time when illegal immigration was still funny.

  • @Chuxnutz it still is--so as long as it happens to some other country ;)

  • You can tell this video is old....now they drive suv's, own homes painted yellow with 3 families living in it collecting checks from welfare while flying their mexican flag and blasting their mariachi music next door. Sounds like fun to me!

  • good old family racism

  • I swear a verse is missing about his sister.

  • @Sabanata99 Yup, they edited out that verse so it could be played on television and radio, because some people found it VERY offense. Pity it has to be that way, huh?

  • alejandra waking up with tony robbins motivational tapes on her tits: its no fun watching naomi suck mathboys cock dry...its all over fb...hey daniel i hear u eating pickles u fat pile of shit get ur ass out of the fridge ...ya fuckin disgusting slob fuck u pay the rent and go...

  • danny bonaduces pubic hairs and alejandras orange smarties in a paper bag: now dont tell anybody what i want to do cause its a no fun watching fat cop get an ice pick thru his skull..oooo..its no fun ...yessenia is an illegal alien...she just shoved alice ramirez out of the way to take a dump in stall 3....haaaaaaaaa

  • Dziwne jeszcze nie ma tu polaków ; /

  • @Mryoda33444 niech tak pozostanie lepiej

  • @Mryoda33444 gotta sister happy to oblige

  • Those are three talented mofos.

  • I was an illegal alien in Mexico. I know some of what illegal aliens in America must have to endure. Its no fun being an illegal alien.

  • Genesis looks good as Mexicans =)

  • Phil Collins looks very Mexican in this one!

  • Phil Collins should have kept the mustache.

  • Great video.

  • IT'S NO FUN BEING AN ILLEGAL ALIEN.....except for obamas aunt and uncle who just got bagged for DUI in Massachusetts, living in the states SINCE 1992!!!!

On our dime yet......and come to find out HE HAS A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD!!!!

    WHAT THE HELL????

  • the problem now is they are not illegal they just come from poland!

  • @brybish GTFO

  • @too0pathetic HAHAHA :D

  • @brybish lol man Polish are urs PKB so Shout UP

  • @brybish ahahahahaha

  • @brybish as an employer, I can readily tell you that polish people work much harder and complain much less than British people. Perhaps if British folk did some fucking work and quit whining they'd get a fucking job.

  • but the details are highly comical: the bottle of tequila the Mexican holds, the new pair of shoes he's wearing (probably stolen); and it all seems totally accurate. Phil sings it in a brash, whiny pseudo-Mexican voice that makes it even funnier, and the rhyme of "fun" with "illegal alien" is inspired.

  • "Illegal Alien" is the most explicitly political song the group has yet recorded and their funniest. The subject is supposed to be sad -- a wetback trying to get across the border into the United States

  • unless your Canadian

  • My fav video!! So right. It's ok to make fun of "Paddy" but anyone else?? Laugh folks it's funny!

  • there are tons of songs about drunken irishmen but we just laugh at the truth in it. If this song offends you buy a bubble and live in your bubble.

  • I've seen the extras at the Swap Meet.

  • This could be the most politically incorrect video of all time...I love it!!

  • LOL.. thats very true here in Chicago a "Sanctuary City" So im firein up my M95 and loadin ammo right now

  • Must be a big hit in Mexico...

  • compared whit the gabriels era, this sucks big time.

  • @Akron162 Unfortunately, the Peter Gabriel era didn't last long. If I understand correctly, Peter Gabriel didn't expect Genesis to last, and he wanted to leave. He obviously was so very wrong.

And tell me, would Genesis with Peter Gabriel have been as successful as with Phil Collins? Also, why is this song so bad, and why do you think Peter Gabriel was so much better of a lead singer than Phil Collins?

  • @WKHalford surely they wouldnt be as succesfull, but they were a looooot better, fame doesnt mean quality. and come on, men, go listen firth of fifth, then listen to this song, and then come back and tell me which song is better.

  • @Akron162 Although Firth of Fifth has some excellent piano playing and isn't a bad song by any means, and although I like Peter Gabriel, this song appeals to me a lot more.

Although fame doesn't mean quality, the Phil Collins era was by no means short of quality. If you think Peter Gabriel was better, then surely you should be fair by blaming him for leaving Genesis. Phil Collins helped to take Genesis and make it one of the best. Peter Gabriel has NEVER had such success.

  • @WKHalford well, im gonna put it like this, with peter gabriel genesis make excellent progressive rock, with phil collins genesis make excellent pop music, which is not important, because the worst prog is allways better than the best pop... allways... and i mean allways, no exception.

  • @Akron162 Actually, the Phil Collins era was a mix of progressive and pop.

And by the way, in case you didn't realize it, as Genesis was going more toward pop in the 80s, so was Peter Gabriel. So the evidence shows that Genesis would have headed that way even with Peter Gabriel.

Whatever. The fans have spoken. The popularity of Genesis with Phil Collins, and the inability of Peter Gabriel to be as popular as Phil Collins (either with or without Genesis), is proof enough of who is better.

  • @WKHalford that doesnt change the fact that the albums they did with whit gabriel were awsome, and the albums they did with collins are pop, just pop, not necesarilly bad, as i said is excellent pop, but compared with those albums with gabriels, they are nothing. surely gabriels ending up turning to pop, but that doesnt change the facts, im talking about what happen, not what could happen. And as i said, fame doesnt mean quality, no matter who sale more copies.

  • @Akron162 Keep in mind that I do actually like Peter Gabriel. Games Without Frontiers is one of my favorites of his.

But there are quite a lot of Phil Collins era songs that indeed are NOT pop. In fact, I have NEVER heard Illegal Alien on pop stations. For that matter, I never heard it on any station at all. Abacab isn't pop. Home By The Sea isn't . Same with dozens others.

Yes, fame doesn't always mean quality. But in the case of Phil Collins with and without Genesis, it does.

  • Comment removed

  • @WKHalford I've heard it on radio stations and you could definately classify this and home by the sea as 80's pop. More complex and challenging pop than the vast majority of pop artists, but still pop. And the reason is that Phil Collins (who has admitted it himself) was collaborating with two much better musicians than him in Rutherford and especially Banks.

In any case, you can't talk about Collins era Genesis without thinking about the three prog albums they released before the 80's...

  • @Hydrok9 Well before the Invisible Touch album came out, I heard Phil era Genesis more on rock stations than on pop stations.

During the time that the Invisible Touch album came out, that was also about the same time that Peter Gabriel started producing pop. So the evidence is clear that with either singer, Genesis would have headed toward pop.

And speaking of Rutherford and Banks, you can't blame Phil for taking Genesis toward pop without blaming them too. To do otherwise isn't fair.

  • @WKHalford I didn't say it was a bad thing that they went this way. I love Duke, Abacab, Genesis and (most of) Invisible Touch. I said what i said about Rutherford and Banks because they were the main reason that Genesis kept challenging and different ideas in their music, even while making commercially viable pop/rock/whatever you want to call it.

As far as the radio argument we seem to be having, I didn't grow up with this music so ive only heard it on the mostly pop oriented 80's stations.

  • Lucky they wrote this in the 80"s as I am sure they would be killed in the media today. If you take offense to this song don't be illegal

  • The Cholos need to go back where they came from. Gauchos, we don't want you here. It's time to go now. Of NHPD, you'll have fear. Collect your money and get gone ! We don't need your leechin',bad speechin', lack of respect for our culture and laws. It's time to get our language back. It's time to lock our doors.

  • @ishredu the cholos are already where they are from, you ignorant fuck

  • first saw this video on "night tracks"(anybody remember that show?). it wasn't like it was on tbs when there were videos on all night long. just 2 hours on st.louis tv

  • 6/28/11 - Countdown to the All-Star Game.

  • Nice to see this finally up. By the way, are they Cholos in the video?

  • @andmaketherain They are 'Paisas.' Cholos are Mexican-American who are gangsters...

  • lol, Mike and his cigarettes XD

  • Stereotypes are not racist. They are stereotypical because they are so common. No one understands the what being racist actually is because we are so over-PC.

It's sad. Racism is believe everyone in a race acts the same and is inferior. And then treating them differently because of that belief.

Portraying a stereotype of a race is fine. It's only when you treat them different based solely on the stereotype does it become racist.

  • This is pretty racist, especially the way he sings.

  • @chaseduran This video caused a lot of controversy in the early 80's but they did it to raise awareness to the immigration laws and how unfair they were compared to UK or Canada.

  • @ 1:47 phil looks like a human version of speedy gonzales

  • Thanks for posting this video. Thumbs up to Genesis!

  • classic

  • Great sond and a very funny video, still luv it after nearly 30 years!

  • he wrote it because he had a problem with his own passport coming in to this country. it's not racist. retards. haha

  • Those synthesizers! Late 70's/early 80's will always have the best music.

  • back before illegal immigration became a problem...maybe Genesis knew something we didn't??

  • @brfts2001 It was a problem back then too. Just more people ignored it then

  • @brfts2001 Genesis were way ahead of their time in more ways than one.

  • UR YOU RED NECK?

  • @brfts2001 no it was a problem back then too, people just talk about it as much.

  • this is a fucken rasist song about mexicans cuz they dont know how hard it is to cross or to live as one they take everything as a joke

  • @godofirex Jeezzzz lighten up..Its a song, and its from 1983 before being PC was hip..

  • @godofirex This wasn't a racist song. It was actually the opposite. If you listen to lyrics closely, you'd be able to tell that the band is actually sympathizing with illegal aliens (Mexicans) & describing what it's like to be one that badly wants to get into the USA. They just did it in a goofy & playful way and imho, there's nothing wrong with that.

  • @godofirex you're gay

  • Some of the lyrics are missing.

  • Comment removed

  • This song got lot's of airplay on the old FM back in the 80's. I still here it a few times a week on XM. HA HA HA one of my favorite Genesis songs!

  • love thee oldie music!!! XD
