  • Thanks. So, I am on the right track with Sony. I was kinda hoping that you might elaborate more and say something like, "Yeah, get the Sony XJ Flip-Out with sub-woofer sound control," or something. Sony is a good start though. I think I will just have to get my feet wet anyway. I've not seen any new vids from you. I check now and then.

  • Hi Syd, I contacted you last year, I think, about the cottonwood tree video. Cottonwoods are one of my favorites. I'm looking at video cams now and wanting to do some videos. Would you please enlighten me with your two cents on what a good cam set up is. I'm thinking about Sony. Are there How To For Dummies texts or videos on this topic? Dan , Pryor, Ok

  • @barefootsneakers Hey Dan. Sony's always been my brand of choice. Good cams, as far as I can tell, are getting much cheaper now that there are things like the Flip out there (not to mention high pix smartphones).

I'm no one to give hardware advice- that's for sure. If you're just starting out with a cam, I'd at least say that's a good way to go, as far as my own experience goes. :o)

    Have fun!!! I love video-making!

  • Very creepy nice tree thou

  • Dear Syd,

Thank you for this wonderful video! I'm definitely going to come here more, to climb with you and Tori as well, and think about the things we just don't know, and don't see, but become aware of in short moments that are gifts of that we cannot constantly perceive because of our energy being absorbed by our language, our kind, our perception...i chelrish these moments the most; and this moment with you, too. So glad to have found you, and the moth i'm sure knew for a sec...Love, Rickie

  • the intrinsic beauty of this tree is amazing.! and your appreciation of this gift of nature is inspiring.thanks for sharing grandmother cottonwood.

    many blessings to you, Ssyd.

    xoxo

  • Thank YOU

  • soo sorry about typeos im hvaeing a hard time this am

  • No worries about the typos, you still get your message across, that's all that matters.

Thank you for commenting, and I'm glad you're connecting with Grandma Cottonwood. That's sure to put a smile on Tori's face when she comes to visit again. :-)

  • Crying actually takes a lot of courage- more than most people know.

  • ((kelly and deb)) i am so glad you connected with the video. it was truly an amazing gift. i still come, often in fact, and climb her. she is very calming to my spirit. and, guess what? you're strong too gal. don't underestimate yourself in that department. take care. ((hugs))

    *tori*

  • An amazing gift you created here Syd. You've got a kind heart.

  • Very touching and intimate video. It's the first thing I've ever seen that comes even close to depicting how I feel about trees, especially bare winter trees. Thank you so very much for making this video and posting it here!

  • You should check out a vlogger over at LiveVideo...her name is Tree3 and she's done a bunch of vids (artsy) on trees (look for the earlier ones). She's actually an accomplished artist.

  • Just came back from watching some videos by Tree3. Thanks for the heads up on what she's doing. Very interesting person and has done some good vids. BTW...what is the music you used for your video? I think that may be the credits at the end but darned if I can find it. TIA!

  • That would be Prayer Cycle (Benediction, I think) by Jonathan Elias. Glad you got to know Tree! She's a gem.

  • I just have to say that that was awesome. What a very special friend you are tori. That was so beautiful. What an excellent place to be. Take care. :)

  • Hearwarmingly fun, love your work and am realizing how far behind I am with it. *goes to see who this "tori" is* peacelovehappynessforeverandeverandeverandever.

  • Tori's great. She's a bright shinin' light, for sure.

  • What an amazing video..really moving! Cottonwoods are so beautiful, and unlike most trees they grow so strong and not to mention fast... Anyone intrested in planting one for themselves should go to myspace.comfastestgrowingtrees

  • They DO grow quickly. There's one in my yard that wasn't big enough to support a small child climbing its limbs, bu about six years ago,and now it towers high and its width and fullness provides my little place shade for a good part of the day. Thanks for commenting.

  • Good morning GraciousGrandmaCottonwood! I needed a climb up this morning GrandmaC! Thank you for your energy. ((hug))

    *tori*

  • That was incredibly well done, and very moving. I feel warmth in my chest, as though the veins of rigid sediment have been loosened and the energy there can move freely again. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • Wow! Thanks for being so thoughtful in your comment! It does my heart good to know you connected on that level.

  • Beautiful and inspiring, you take such strive in putting heart into filming!

  • this video brought tears to my eyes.the video was wicked beautiful,i never heard of a cottonwood tree before,i felt like i was up there with you and Tori, also love the music what was it ,ty for sharing huggsss Nancy

  • Thanks Nancy! I think the music's incredibly moving, too. I'm glad I found it before making this vid. When I added it and then viewed it for the first time with the music, I got a little teary-eyed myself.

  • today i stood up from my wheelchair and climbed the tree too. thank you.

  • You're SO welcome. Thank YOU for letting me know. Tori will love it.

  • wow...what a blessing you could share the experience with all of us...it is truly something significant and edifying to the spirit soul AND body...thanks for climbing...

    *tori*

  • i came to visit you today GrandmaC. thank you for being there...i honor you Grandma!

  • This was extremely powerful. And now forever, I'm going to remember that moth analogy.

  • MWAH!

  • That is just beautiful. You can thank Ravensinger for passing me your channel...the trip up the tree was magnificent and profound...

  • Syd, I'm speechless.

Okay, what's with all these videos that make us cry?!?!

I'll get you for this - and your little dog, TOO!

    (seriously, this was absolutely beautiful)

  • *sorry* it's a good cry, though...I hope :-)

  • The best kind, yes.

  • Amazing... very touching..made me cry...I had the pleasure to climb a tree today because of you. What an awesome gift you gave Tori and many others.

    ~Martha

  • Tori's told me she's climbed it many times since I uploeded...isn't that great that video can do that?

  • indeed i have. in fact i needed to visit her. so i watched this twice and had a double dose of her peace. thank you grandma cottonwood.

  • Happy belaited birthday sweety ox nancy,, ps just watched this video, outstanding for sure

  • thanks nancy, glad you got to experience this with us..it's awesome...i take this trip pretty often actually. take care darlin!

    *tori*

  • Wow! Thoughtful, spiritual, heartfelt...AWESOME! You 'get it' don't you Kiddo?

  • wow.. you seriously captured the beauty of that tree... such a simplistic thing... trees... part of our eden...and we dont pay enough attention to them... amazing... thank you..

  • Wow, that was GREAT!

  • well clearly at least one of us isn't unaware.. that was an absolutely stunning vid, well worth the immense effort it must've taken - i love your appreciation of the world

  • Thanks Polly!

  • Very nicely done Syd. It took me back to my own tree climbing days, way back when :)

  • Syd, this is just beautiful. Your vids are often thought provoking, sometimes amusing and never, never dull. Once again, I say to you, those are some lucky students you have.

    Connie

  • Thanks Connie!

  • you are so free syd.

  • Oh, if only. But thanks for the words...maybe the Gods may hear and take pity on the both of us.

  • hahahaha hahahahahhhaaahhahahha hahahaahahha hhahhahhahaahahh

hahhahhaahahahahahahaha hahaahaha take a breath...hee hee ha hahahhahaahahahaha hahhahahaahahahahahahahahahoooooooh ha!

  • You've had your caffiend for this morning, and then some, haven't you? It makes me smile to imagine you really laughing like that!

  • Beautifully done! I was thinking to myself, how the hell is she climbing that tree with a camera in one hand.

  • You would laugh so hard if you saw (or heard) the stuff I edited out!!! I was cursing and laughing the whole way up, knowing that all I needed were the visuals to get her up there. Tori and I laughed about that last night.

  • well, all i can say is... whether my need big, small, or indifferent, friendship surpasses our own limitations. when you want to change someones life forever, take their hand and guide them up a tree! grateful! .... *tori*

  • *hugs*

  • Simply Amazing. Listening to nature is how God brings me to peace. I use to go hiking and camping away from everything. The history, strength and grace of that tree is very relaxing to watch on my Tv. I can only image what its like to be at the top of her.

    Thanks again.

    ev'

  • Glad you liked Evan. The music's amazing, isn't it? It just takes me to a whole other place.

  • You brought tears to my eyes. Just beautiful.

  • It had the same effect (magnified) on Tori. She said she was blown away by it. Made me cry, too, when she said that.

  • Background please! A little setup, if you dont mind! I want to love the tree too.

  • Sorry! I studied. I'm an idiot

  • Oh my goodness...I'm coming over right now and climbing with you. Look at that beautiful place where you are. Where DO you live, anyway??? What a gorgeous tree. Do you know that if you sit at the base of a tree with your back to her, she'll tell you her wisdom? We're all sharing the same reality...we are one. Mitakuye Oyasin! Beautiful video, Syd.

  • Thanks. Glad you connected. New Mexico, base of the Rockies.

  • Gorgeous place...I used to live in Colorado Springs at the base of Cheyenne Mountain and miss it every single day.

  • Very nice vid
