Is it just me, or does the Simplex Code-3 tone seem to sound a bit higher pitched when coming from a regular amplifier to the speaker instead of coming from a real Simplex voice-evac panel?

I can't tell, but all I know is regardless of the system, it's supposed to be 500hz.

Right. But what I am saying is, I guess the tone sounds a little different when played on or from a computer than a Simplex panel. The voice-evac message also sounds a little lower-pitched in some videos I've seen, so I guess it has something to do with the sound output thingy for Simplex voice panels; not the actual tone/voice clips.

Yes. It can be hooked up to anything really, providing it has the proper power and audio feed...
