I can remember being 8 years old waiting on my granddaddy to come home from driving trucks at Publix and my Grandma would be shoutin in the living room to this song lol. I thought it was so cool that she kept the records from back in the day.
that song brings back great memeries of good times and true worship it remind me of my friends sinnging in the choir at transfiguration baptist church in Nassau Bahamas
This is another Gospel favorite from back in the day (1983). I played this on Gospel skate sessions a lot in the mid to late 90's. Amazingly, folks still wanted to hear it after all those years and enjoyed skating to it...great song with a great message.
Keith... Was in San Antonio, Texas the beginning of this month (March 2010, 1st Saturday @ the "Emmanual A.M.E. Church". He really did sing and minister to the hungry souls that evening! I'm so glad he is back on the scene and my favoriate organist "Jimmy Wyatt", played the organ as if it was a part of him! If you did not get a chance to be in this awesome worship experience, you really missed a treat! This is one of my all time favorites also.
wow! Love the comments, we shall reap if we faint not. This song got me through some bad times. Thank God for Min Keith. where is he now. Bishop LT Pontiac Mi
This was my favorite song at Howard University 1981!!! We used to blast this in the dorms..I have been searching for this on you tube for over a year and I just happened to try it again today. Thank you to the poster of this!!!! You'll never know what a blessing this song has been to me TODAY....2009!!Timeless message!
Man...yes! It feels so good just to hear this song! Timeless music indeed...It gives you such a warm feeling when reminiscing of those times of old when music seemed to be so much more pure! Wow! So glad I found this! Thank God for youtube!
Don't yall just love the YOUTUBE ministry? lol... I mean, where else can we find our favorite old school gospel cuts? I mean, old school gospel NEVER goes out of style, but records, 8tracks, and cassettes do... cause I sho been looking for this one. LOL... my cassette tape FADED and then popped! LOL
I TOTALLY agree!! and JohnZoe777 has shared the BEST hits from as we love to say 'back in the day!' I think every choir I knew sang this song!! Wonderful!!
bartsing2,..do u remember Bishop McMurray had 3 or 4 signature songs that he sang every sunday that i remember well? Someone told me that Keith Pringle wrote most of them when he was minister of music at Greater Bethany,i wonder why they were never recorded? They would be rockin the church off of them songs:
1.'Lord help me to help somebody'
2.'Enter into his gates with thanksgiving'
3.'Overflowing-if i just learn to wait upon the Lord'
Ron Greer is "AWESOME" ,man he's 1 of the best at singing and directing a mass choir,i was a member at Greater Bethany when he was minister of music before Bishop McMurray, may god rest his soul passed, along with Laverne Greenwood,.Johnathan Grier and Ina,.all were perfectionist in their gift/calling & ministry, it wasn't a Sunday that pass and my heart wasn't touched& life changed through their magnicient ministering of music,i just moved back to the LA ,where are they all?
Wow, and Rickey Grundy is on piano I believe, new comers don't understand that when this song first hit , "whoooooooooo" it was the !!!! now you know I'm not gonna cuss, but I want to...lol
That was Roy Crayton, Jr. on piano (me!). That was a HOT session. The hottest track did not make the album "Jesus Suffered, Bled and Died" by David Allen (the writer of "Let Us Not Be Weary") lead by the late Penny Jones. It too was ahead of it's time and to edgy (contemporary) for Savoy Records. During the time of this session, Ricky had relocated to Chicago and was working with James Chambers and Chicago Mass Choir and was unable to do the gig.
Hey Roy. One of the baddest piano players to come out of LA and one of the ones responsible for that late eighties sound. I am bowing to you sir. It's your buddy from LA. I know you very well, and love you very much. we worked together on LA Mass projects. I'll just say "Be Encouraged" hint, hint.
Oh Snap!! This is the song that inspired me to learn how to play the organ. I was supposed to sing it in my yungr days and I went to church and sat in the audience and refused to get up. A couple years later I had enough courage to sing it and our musician refused to play it ever again. Well to not be outdone I decided to let my Aunt Puddin teach me to play. So for that I say THANK YOU DARRYL for not playing it anymore. (smile)
Please!!!! What a song from back in the day!! Holy Temple from Houston also recorded this song in the 80's with David Allen leading it!!!If you have "NONE BUT THE RIGHTEOUS" by P.C.C. please post it!!!
I believe Ricky Dillard has a song on a somewhat recent album which is similar in a lot of ways. Does anyone know if its an arrangement, or does Ricky Dillard consider it to be an entirely different song? Just wondering.
Lawd! I almost fainted when I saw this song! I just played this song for our church for the "Offering"! LOL! This song was ahead of it's time. I was just in Oakland, CA recently, whatever happened to Ricky Grundy? Things have changed and time has made a change there!
I was at this recording. It was at West Angeles COGIC. It was packed. PCC was the choir. No one could touch 'em. Also, the soloist is Ronnie Greer not Bonnie Greer. I know him personally. Typo on the album cover.
OMG! I wish that I was there! Wow, tell us more about that night please????? This choir was so awesome. I grew up on listening to Keith Pringle & The Pentecostal Community Choir!
Dex, we danced practically all night. "Prayer and Faith" just slayed us. The choir had the presence, the robes were perfect, the music was great, and the praises were all to God. That was in the day when concerts were geared to praise and not entertainment. Oh, yeah, there were some enterainment concerts, but Keith was a student of Rev. Cleveland, his aim was to minister.
how can i get this tape please send it to curtis ellerbe 8103 pointer lane apt 9 manassas va 20109 i've never heardd this alubum. i have true victory tape and no greater love tape and vhs ihave heard of when all gods childeren but not this tape
@mrtheoneandonly83 Right! At that time it was the main sanctuary. I was a member. I used to be under Eld. Hughes. I believe he transitioned. He was the minister of Evangelism at that time. Anyway, I'm rambling. Sorry.
I would like to find this song on cd, or at least on Itunes, and it appears to be nowhere to be found. Anyone got any ideas where I can find it?
