  • Lol the lds rock I love living in Utah everyone base long storage food

  • if it really hits the fan, you don't want to be the one guy with food, outside, cooking it in front of them.

Also food storage will simply allow you more time to adjust to any situation. It won't make you sustainable or self-sufficient.

  • Excellent idea. Thanks

  • Let me start by saying you have the right idea... Very well thought out and your food storages looks like mine for the post part. However I have to say that you have said nothing about protecting your food and family. If crap hits the fan there will be so many people that did not prep and now they will loot... Do you have means of protection? Please dont take this the wrong because I mean no disrespect. Thanks... Its like I always say. Lets all learn from each other. Joe Tactical

  • good job but one thing you need to do is stock up on water.

  • Try the Banana Seal - SaveTheBananaSeal dot-com.

  • I'm not a mormon, but I love the principles and lifestyle they live by. LDS preparedness handbook is a must read!

  • i don't see anyone or very very few of these food storage how to video's on YouTube talking about water, and even more importantly SEEDS. for the real long term you need a seed bank, and water filtration system in place if you are going to be serious about long term survival.

  • Too many people dont store enough water

  • @Lexingtonprepdude True story.

  • how much food you got??6 months...

thanks for that info about storage and packagin

  • couple quick questions,,1. how long will that pasta you have in mylar bags last? 2. you said you have propane juat in case..Do you know the shelf life of the little propance canisters used for camping? (the kind that attach to the small bug out stoves)

  • @daveyboy126 1) as long as the mylar bags stay intact the pasta will last 20 plus years. 2) i have used a small propane canister that had sat in my shed for 10 years and it worked fine. I believe as long as the bottle is not rusted and in good shape the propane will stay unaltered for decades.

  • @Boondocksaint1745 adviceandbeans(dot)com is an excellent source for mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. The owner of the company has graciously created a standing 10% discount for my subscribers. I would happily share the discount code with any of your subscribers who would like to p.m. me for it.

  • If you are talking about dry corn, it will store 15 to 20 years if packed in buckets with oxygen absorbers. You need to keep your buckets stored in a cool, dry, dark place. I would not store feed grains as they are not very high quality. You need good quality organic grains if you want the safest, healthiest and longest storing product. You can also sprout organic grains.

  • I have read three different places that you should never put stuff directly on the floor. Use pallets. Also do not put food against cement walls. They had compelling reasons that I can't remember at the moment. FYI

  • dont worry about toilet paper you can use you dollar bills to wipe your ass becase thats all theyll be good for

  • @rolficus LOL!!

  • nice start

  • If I were you I would take all the food wraped in light plastic like the ramon noodles and in cardboard boxes and put them in those pails to protect them from the biggest food crooks the (mice and insects) they will have a feast, and if there is a food shortage, people are not the only ones looking for food.I see a lot on those shelves that need protected.

  • Hey! I bet you're the same "Saint" on ATS! I like your preparedness videos!

  • get rid of the ethnics in our country and were on our way to recovery

  • Where is a good place to buy 50lb bags of Long Grain Winter Wheat, I notice that there is organic, and somthing about plastic, and paper, like from Walton Feed, There is Honeyville, but they appear to be a lot more expensive...How long does corn, store..? Are the 100lb $10.00 Bags of corn at the Feed store ok to store..?

  • I put together a quick vid on how to effectively extract seeds from small berries.

Seeds may soon be the new Gold!

    watch?v=48cNOCICGbM

  • Guys should be careful on buying cambell chicken noodle soup, because of how much water you need to prepare to actually eat the it. I suggest buying brand names like progressive!!!

  • I have never heard of the Harvest of the West Brand foods - where did you get that at?

  • @CHEECHAKOSMONTANA My local Wal-mart has a whole isle for long term food storage and water storage.

  • I just wanna ask.. how do you preserve rice?

  • @CeLaKaZ1 Rice can be packaged the same as noodles, wheat and similar things. First get a Mylar bag and some oxygen absorbers. Then put the Mylar bag in a 5 gal bucket. Fill up the Mylar bag and throw in your oxygen absorbers and seal the Mylar bag with an iron. Put the lid on the bucket and the rice will stay good for decades.

  • wow..its look like u have ur own market at ur house..

  • @lurzax If you think about it though nearly every house used to look like this. I remember growing up in the early '80's and my grandparents had a full on larder in their basement with home canned fruits , veggies , jams, kraut, and things like homemade sausages and smoked hams that would last for years. Back in the day it was just plain common sense, and sadly it's something that we've forgoten how to do. Try keeping some extra food in your own house. You might just feel a little bit better.

  • I just wanna ask, how long is mre shelf life? i dont understand.. if the food expired can we eat it?

  • @CeLaKaZ1 MRE's when keep in standard tempatures of around 80 degrees will has a shelf life of 5 years. that is shelf life you can eat expired items as long as the packages are not riped or they are not spoiled from exposor of some sort. the taste may deminish over time but the food should be good for a couple years. Food that has expired my have a stail taste but is eatible, just beawear of bulging cans or packages and give it a look over and smell it.

  • @CeLaKaZ1

Maybe, but you'll be on the shitter for hours after. Might wanna buy some extra tummy pills too.

  • smart

  • My long term is alot diffrent than yours,I have chickens, ducks and rabbits...Plus seeds and canning supplies and a yard full of perinials, fruite trees and bushes...

  • @pdsavage Everyones long term will be different for them. I aslo have chickens and goats. I have a nice garden and another little one for my kids because I don't want them to dig in mine, they are not old enough to get the idea its not ok to dig up dads veggies that arn't ready yet. I was trying to show people that if you are going to start food storage start with something like that but always keep moving forward on your preps. Thanks for viewing.

  • Keep your preparations low key or even better SECRET. I think one of the largest threats to your supplies won't just be those that haven't prepared but the Federal, State and Local governments. They will scream that you are "hoarding" and take what you have to distribute to those that have mocked you for your foresight. It doesn't matter if they were buying big screen plasma TVs and Snowmobiles while you were scrimping and saving to prepare. "It's for the greater good" they will claim.

  • Off to a great start.

  • Even relatively short-term cans of food are good. If you're not planting and harvesting your own food by 10 years into a crisis, you're doing something wrong. Balance your nutritional needs when storing food. Not enough to have wheat and rice and beans; you should look at the food pyramid, and plan a balanced diet, including proteins, fats, vegetables, as well as grain. Short term (1-2 years) canned goods are cheap and varied, and will serve well until you become self-sufficient. =^[.]^=
