  • this is the song i have to sing ... in fast motion.

  • I played Graydon in my my school's show and it was my favorite part I have ever played and I loved performing this song !

  • I have to do a tap solo in my school production of this! FUN! :D

  • New life goal: Sing this song without any mistakes.

  • ... parody of Ruddigore's 'My eyes are fully open' much? which is from the 19th century...

  • The violin part for this is a lot of fun. I still have it somewhere from when I was in the pit.

  • @giligara30492 Yeeeah! Cello part is pretty intense too!

  • That's such a slow speed.

  • @StatusLie I was essentially the same. This was the first play I did Sophomore Year, no one knew I could sing, so I blew them all away with this song.

    Keep singing.

  • i love when it gets all quiet at the end and then u hear.."Graydon" (:

  • @morgycon1023

    Ur gay

  • youtube.com/watch?v=rQGrQPZMLK8

    It's the same thing.

  • They stole this from Rudigore! (And Pirates of Penzance, at least the movie version.)

  • I love this musical, its the first one I've ever done. I'm a junior in highshool and I play soccer and lacrosse, I also played basketball but i decied to do the play instead this year. I always have loved to sing, but no one but my family ever knew. I got Trevors understudy my first time ever in the play! The lead was given to a senior, hes been in the play for ages, the music teacher who helps direct the play loves me and wants me to join our elite chorus next year. The musical gave me courage.

  • @StatusLie Im sorry, did anyone ask for your life story?

  • I have to say all that infront of 400 people .-. I can barley rap....

  • We are doing this play at my school, and as a freshman I made the part of Millie!!! I am so excited! This one is my favorite plays of all time!

  • our Mr.Graydon sings the extremely fast part faster than that. and he has larengitist

  • @egirl371 First of all, it's spelled Laryngitis. Second of all, it changed nothing about the speed that you can speak or sing at. Just how it sounds.

  • Four people have not improved the floor wax batter.

  • @jbbdude Indeed. To the papers~!

  • i like how at the end she says millie grady so that says she wants to marry him

  • Dear Mr. Colon, Hudson.

  • Imagine a whole entire choir singing the part from 5:09 to 5:20. That would be shocking! Ha!

  • Marc Kudisch is absolutely amazing in this song!!

  • @Paradise737 why??

  • @5nikki50 Half the music is plagiarized or ripped off.

  • @Paradise737 well i guess you have a point

  • PIRATES OF PENZANCE REFERENCE!!!!

  • @AlwaysMusicAlly Ruddigore, actually!

  • OMG! i am doing this musical and opening night is thursday!

  • lol i was 101 to like

  • my school is doing this show this week. im in the pit orchestra and this is deff one of my favorite songs to play :)

  • This is so fun to sing :P

  • Now you know I have a bitch of a job when the guy teaching me to sing it is screwing up, constantly, on a studio recording.

  • Can you put the download link for most of them? I love this musical! I saw my school did it on Saturday, and now I'm hooked. Thank You! :D

  • If you look up the lyrics and listen too this you can tell that he's actually saying the words not gibberish.

  • @PercyJacksonfan01 Which is what is truly amazing

  • Just realized this is from Ruddigore. Awesome!

  • We are doing this at my school and I love how it doesn't even give you a tempo its just "As fast as humanly posible"

  • @GoPartyInBleach haha that is true. my school is doing it this week

  • Whoa, this is truly CRAZY fast. :P

  • how the heck in this god giving workd did he pullthat top speed off. i mean i just saw a school play of this and it was fast but that had to be three times faster. Holy crow i have trubble breathing just from listening to that. XP

  • the real official version is like faster than crap. and crap is pretty fast:)

  • Yay Ruddigore! Gilbert and Sullivan rock.

  • I uploaded myself doing the speed test tell me what you think

  • My school is putting on this musical and I'm in the pit. I love this song the most cuz of all the wacky rapid parts to play and sing!

  • Well, if you think that your part is hard in the jr version, try to do the office worker part/ sinog part which goes double the speed of mr greydons faster part

  • i just found out for the jr version i got Mr.Graydon :)

    this song is hard lol!

  • i'm doing this show where i do theatre (the junior version of it) and i have a feeling this is one of the songs we'll be doing the full version of.

  • me too. im doing the jr. version but were doing the full full version of nuttycracker suit

  • We're doing Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. (High School version of broadway one) and this song is so hilarious, it's just the beginning and end parts, but our Mr. Graydon is hilariously fast!

  • i just saw that it was hilarious!!!

  • I love this song, though it's difficult to sing. They do an amazing job. :)

    I love Sutton Foster.

  • millie graydon!!! lolz... i love how she is so set on getting what she wants...

  • Comment removed

  • Ok, for a second there I swear the guy is just saying gibberish.

  • I listened to it and yes, he does miss out some of the parts of the words to be able to say it faster, but you can tell that it's not just random gibberish even if it doesnt make sense.

  • @Chewerific its not that bad me and my friend james had to sing it for drama

  • @Chewerific I played the part of Trevor Graydon in my High School's production of this musical, and trust me, at times you really have to sing so fast that you have to speak gibberish that just sounds like the lyrics and hope for the best. Haha

  • I'm having fun learning to play this(and the rest of the music) for pit orchestra!

  • me too. Though I wish the key sigs we're so screwy lol

  • @ForestsRequiem i am playing this also what instrument are u playing im playing the flute and piccolo parts this song is hard as hell

  • The key to singing it as fast as he did at the end is to forget about articulation.

  • Mark Kudisch is great! I uploaded our school doing the speed test, I played Trevor :D

  • Because of how daunting this one was (and how silly), this is the most memorable song in the whole thing for me.

  • The Speed Test uses the melody from Pirates of Penzance because the song it's imitating is FAMOUS for having very fast spoken parts. It's not so much stealing as it is a nod to a famous work. Why take a compliment and try to make it into something vulgar?

  • There are a few nods to other "styles" of musical theatre in this show isn't there! I think it's fantastic!

  • I'm in the chorus for Millie in school, matter has seased to have a meaning because of this song, we still love it though!

  • This is my audition piece for Graydon next week. %D It'll be crazy.

  • Same with me. My problem is that I have a cold. :(

  • Oh, no. That's not fun. How did you do?

  • Actually it's a copy of 'My Eyes are Fully Open' from Ruddigore :)

  • And I have to sing THIS for my schools preformance?!?

What have I gotten myself into?

  • i just did this as millie! It's not as hard as you think! I was also in the typists cast just to try and it wasnt that hard

  • You think that's bad? Try being one of the flutists X3 (No, honestly, good luck, good luck.)

  • i love this song, but my friend who plays graydon goes way too fast on the last part right before the u have made the team ms. dillmount part. but he's really good at being graydon.

  • my cheeks kill me after everytime i sing this.

  • Thanks for posting this. I LOVE THIS SONG. I saw this musical upon recommendation and am so glad that I did.

  • by the time my school finishes this play, matter is going to be my LEAST favorite word. ever. <3

  • I totally agree! lol

  • Yay! Millie rocks!

  • this is my fave song of the whole play!!!!!

  • This is the best song in the show. I love it.

  • My school did this play so well I thought the guy was gonna be out of breath lol

  • i love this song sooo much haha our last show is tonightt :( pretty sad haha

  • i would so see the sequel if they made one :)

  • we are doing this play but the jr. version and some of the office workers and stenogs sing part of it this song is so easy to sing after youve got it down the guy playing trevor had it down in like a week and a half! ahha iwas like WOAHH lol i love this song!! (:

  • us too :) no one else here is doing jr. the guy who plays trevor in my group sounds like the trevor on the tape it comes with. :)

  • @samigrl1234 im doing the jr. version too...i'm miss flannery. and the guy playing trevor in ours is quite good if a little fast

  • ours was too.

  • i am doing this play and I play Trevor Graydon so I gotta sing this. Feels hard but I guess I can do it

  • hey,

does anyone have the karaoke/instrumental version of "how the other half lives" from this musical?????

  • I LOVE this song. It's so much fun, and I just got the hang of saying it really fast! Props to Marc and Sutton for doing it so well! It's hard!

  • Love this!

  • umm how did u upload the song and the pic

  • i used iMovie

  • I'm in the jr version im mrs meers lol

  • lol my school is doing the jr version for christmas! lol We havent got a cast

  • This was such a fun song to perform!

  • does the jr version have this song?

  • yes, my school's doing the jr. version. it's hilarious, but it's not as good as the original. the jr version sucks.

  • Fav'd because I love patter songs, and this takes too long to keep searching :p

  • Could you upload the repise?

    I can't find it anywhere!

  • i would definitely upload it if i had it. i only uploaded the songs that came with the cd i bought. but if i happen to come across it, i'll definitely upload it for you guys.

  • this song is beeeaaastt!!!!

  • My school is doing this in two weeks.

    I'm a pricilla girl / stenog.

It's so much fun, but this song is a pain in the ass. xD

  • 5:21 till the end is my fav part lol :)

  • our school is doing that next week

luv this song but not my fav

my fav is either muqin or long as i'm here with you

  • who's the weirdo thumbing down every single comment?

  • someone with no life.

  • yeah.... Marissa that song was made in the sixties and it was hot fuzzz so that is why

  • i love this song! its fun to sing, but difficult especially at first.

my school is doing this show, but the junior version, so this song is shortened. but im glad its still in the show!

auditions on the 10th, wish me luck :)

  • NuttyCracker Suite is also one I think, from the Nutcracker Ballet

  • also true :)

  • reminds me of gilbert and sullivan's "Modern Major General"

  • yes! some of the songs from TMM are "updated" versions of other great songs. i think it's this song and "I'm Falling In Love With Someone" that falls under those categories.

  • This is based on a song called "My Eyes Are Fully Open" from the Gilbert & Sullivan show called Ruddygore. It has the same melody and opening line, and the repeated part is "so it really doesn't matter, matter, matter, matter, matter..."

  • It was also recycled in another one of their operettas, Pirates of Penzance.

  • Katherine is correct, they did not credit G&S. Despite the good performance, if Gilbert were alive, he'd sue. And Goth, it was not recycled in the classic G&S PoP (which came much earlier than Ruddigore), but another version was inserted recently into the EssGee Australian production!

  • oh! lollol i just commented saying that! i was like wow this sounds like a gillbert & sullivan -esqe

  • gilbet and sullivan is the person who wrote this. i was in both productions in my school.
