  • whats the name of the first song.

  • i lived there, the tornado was awful i lost not only my house but my hometown where i grew up..it really sucked.

  • blackfang642, and ItachisGrl13, I went to high school at Larned with Laykin Smith!

  • I did not live in Greensburg however when that tornado kept moving that night it turned a mile before my house! I have been to greensburg to help clean up with a christian group from the college i am in. i was devastated at how much happened. and i was glad i helped rebuild, if i could i would go again and help again. God Bless everyone from Greensburg! They have been through a lot!

  • i just went to greensburg today i live in dodge now and they are really rebuilding it fast but its still a sad sight to see

  • And not one time did these people beg the govt. to help them or blame George Bush...not ONE TIME! They did what they had to do, and got on with life. I'm proud of them.

  • This video's only purpose is to pay tribute to the spirit of the Greensburg survivors. As such, NO POLITICAL COMMENTS please.

    Thanks so much.

  • cool vid!!!

    l luv the song u used!!!! =)

  • Thanks so much!

  • holy crap thats mad!

  • i live in wichita, a few miles away from greensburg, and i was at a friends house when this happened i was so scared that i pryed for all the people that would be hit by this tornado to be spared but some werent spared

  • the discovery channel is supposed to be rebuilding this town as a "model green town" right? have they started. i hope they complete it. so all the other countries can look at another american revolution

  • They have started. I haven't been since right after this, but my cousins live there and they say it's coming along.

  • cool. are the people having to pay for it? and why hasnt it been on tv :/. i know you dont know that, but it sounded interesting

  • It's on Planet Green. It's another spin-off discovery channel.

  • wow.. this is just crazy!

i drove through greensburg the other day.. and things are still torn and it's horrible..:/

to all you Greensburg residents, to let you know you were all in my prayers and still are.

  • I live in Greensburg and I just wanted to thank every one of you who had faith in us and in the town. We most likely couldnt have made it through without the support and strength. God Bless YOU!

  • Chynie32,

You are too kind. I think your Greensburg School Superintendent, Darren Hedrick, said it best: "Towns are about people, they're not about buildings." As you continue to rebuild and put your lives back together, know that there are so very many that are supporting you from afar. Those of us who have followed your story for the last year are in awe of your strength, your faith and your resolve. Take care of you and yours,

    Ben

  • What is Greensburg like today? Are most people rebuilding? I can't find stories or footage about what's going on there...

  • Tune into Planet Green network (discovery networks) sunday nights for a documentary on how they are re-building, but with platinum LEED certification (the most efficient rating you can get for eco-friendly design). An incredible tragedy turns into an incredible story of rebuilding and hope.

  • yo chynie32.. i was born by and raised in Greensburg UNTIL that tornado.. now me and my family live in wisconsin

  • she also has graves the illness. ): i swear i want to see her so bad im only 13 and i have a freakin crush on the girl.

  • i made a really funny cool freind in greensburg when i went there to help clean up and rebuild. i will never forget her. she was in salina drove herself (shes only 17 now)she came out of the theaters and some people saw her greensburg shirt and started to cry. they took her to a mall to watch it unfold on tv. that brave young woman couldnt find her mom for 12 hours. meanwhile she found out that her freind was smashed by a wall. she found her mom in a mash unit in haviland.

  • good luck rebuilding i was scared that night that it might come to our town which is spearville

  • im going with my church group to greensburg tommorow im kindda afraid to see the damage up close.

  • I think the rebuilding is coming along well. I was just on a trip with a friend from Pratt and she said her relative was moving back into a newly built house in the next couple of weeks. Please check in with us here and give a quick update on what you saw if you have time. Thanks!

  • God bless you all. keep fighting.

  • My family and I lived in a nearby town called Haviland where I went to a Christian College (Barclay). We did our shopping and other things in Greensburg. Our 4th child was born in their small hospitol. It was a great small town! I look forward to seeing it recover. God Bless every resident and thank you for the kindness you showed to a family from North Carolina.

  • Oh yeah, God bless everyone of you that had to go through that nightmare.

  • 10 thumbs up to the poster of this video. And what an excellent song choice. On November 15th of 1988 I lost everything in a tornado that hit my small town with no warning.

  • I hope the people in Greensburg are doing great today! God Bless you all!

  • Drove through Greensburg on Tuesday, absolutely devastating. Keep on keepin on' Greensburg.

  • I know. It's been slow progrss, but there has been progress. It will come back. :)

  • Very sportsmanlike of you!

  • Thanks, my friend send me a link to a news video about their football team's first game since the tornado, and it was against the town I used to live in(Ashland). They lost though :(

  • That is too cool that you throw discus! I threw shot put in sixth grade. People don't realize how hard the throwing events are unless they try. Hope your friend does end up moving back closer to you again. Sounds like that would be nice for you.

  • I live in Greensburg. I'm one of Laykin's friends. She moved though.

  • wow thats kool im her ex bf

  • haha i went to preschool with that girl. She moved to bucklin or minneola or something right

  • kansas is a great state for the most part

i'll always have a special place in my heart

  • My father is doing a lot of construction out there still. Lots of people are trying to stick it out and rebuilt, as you know. I'm glad you and the kids in Greensburg stay in touch. I'm sure it helps them to have friends like you. Did you say you throw discus? Maybe I missed something.

  • Check our greensburg video out!

  • Twinmom283,

It is unreal. And the pix really don't do it justice. But, these folks are resilient. Between their grit and determination and all the people helping they WILL get it done!

  • as some one who had traveled thru here just a week before this really grabs me. i can't believe Greensburg is gone! it is totally unreal!!! But the people of Greensburg are Kansasan!!! some of the most versital people on earth!

  • Nice video. You have some great photos in there. Check mine out if you get the chance. I just added it a few hours ago. I live just down the road from Greensburg and work at a radio station that's been heavily involved in relief.

  • good song choice man

  • Do you still live in Greensburg? My Dad's construction company is working there now. He's contracted to repair the only motel still standing in town, among other things. He was just there yesterday.

  • naw we moved in 2003 to Arizona. Thank the lord though because the house we lived in was one of the only ones that didnt have a basement and it is completely gone. So we'd probly be dead

  • Well, I'm glad you're in safer climbs now. Well, apart from rattlesnakes and the occasional monsoon. ;)

  • haha seriously

  • hell ya man, one more week and im gonna be down there helping.

  • Our prayers and well wishes are with you folks. Take Care.

  • Thanks so much for sending good thoughts Greensburg's way.

  • I am so sorry to hear that Momoftwinsplus1. It's amazing how many people I've run into that know somebody in Greensburg. My Dad's former employee lost his home, but his family was spared.

  • i lived there 10 years and my dad for 40 and my grandpa for 65

  • Good video. My Grandpa is from Greensburg, and it was such a beautiful town, its so sad to see it like this. The raised the death toll today to 10, I knew one of the ladies who died, in a round about way we are related.

  • awsome video,

  • Well, thanks. It's a bit low budget, but from the heart.
