Though I love his guitar playing Neal's and vocals are so much like all the other rock bands of the late 70' 80's. They nearly all used the same drum beat and unimaginative bass riff's. The few groups that got to the top at that time soon ran out of ideas for guitar riffs. It depends on how you like your music. Some like it fast and like it to change now and then. A name that springs to mind is Eddie Van Halen. Some like the slow beat with no complicated riffs kind of like hip hop.

Actually, Neal Schon does sing lead vocals on the song "In Self Defense" from the Generations album. Johnathan Cain sang lead on the song "Every Generation". Deen Castronovo sang lead on two songs, "A Better Life" and "Never Too Late". And Ross Valory sang lead on the song "Gone Crazy" from that album as well!
