  • Just did the German version and my N95 now requires Hercules strength to slide lmao >.< ...

  • @deniousp Oh, well, thats easy to fix, but next time read the instructions more carefully. =)

Just dismantle it again and bend the metal outwards a little, remember you only really need to bend one of those two "hooks".

Be REALLY gentle when you bend it and test it regularly in the process of adjusting it. It works really good when the bend proper.

    GLHF :p

  • minu omal oli ka sama viga, müüsin ta maha 2500 eest, ei hakkanud ise jamama. aga 5+ video.

  • @xbox012 It's a model-making scalpel, if it's that brand or any other does not matter. I am sure you agree that generally people would understand scalpel easier than X-Acto/Excel-knife. ;)

  • Perfect! The slide on my phone was loose totally, but it was as well fixed with your method! Tack!

But Still Good Job This works perfect .

  • The Best Phone =)

  • i cant turn on n95 8gb..

  • Check battery, try with the recharge cord in too. Also try and shake it a little, might be a bad connection or a damaged circuit board.

  • HI...hi guys =)) i got an N95 and i have a problem whit hes keyboard idk when i press 9 the phone see that i pressed 9 and remove taste on the same time ... the seller seez that its a problem ...somfting whit the double silde ...is that means that i have the same problem like the guy in the video ... idk im not the best in reparing phones and if i try to repair it maybe i idk how to fix it beack....plss help ( and sry if my enghlish is a litle stupid)

  • This is a different problem I think, but try and explain a little more clearly ;)

  • naja

  • Hmm, you sure?

  • its center not senter

  • I is spelled with a capitol I.

English is your first language... =)

  • lol,we english actually is not my first language. lol

  • Well, I only assumed since you state Canada as your country. Although that might be a little trap language wise, because the official languages in Canada is both English and French. However, statistically it's a bigger chance of you speaking English since it's the most spoken language there, hence my guess =)

That being said, you have troubles even constructing a sentence in English, so if you are going to judge/criticize me, tread lightly. ;)

    Have a nice weekend!

  • hahahah, true and true, and am from russia so ruski is my first language, and i didnt ment to be so agrasive in my sentence and i bet as u can see i suck at spelling lol,,, well u have a nice weekend 2.

  • capital is spelt with an"A"

  • i need help too

i just applied a housing kit on my n95 and im guessing somethings wrong with the antenna because i cant hear anything when i call other people but i can hear only when its on speaker.?

    any help or suggestions?

  • If you only can hear people when you put the phone on the stereo speakers I suppose the main speaker is unconnected or damaged.

  • can you help me? my front keypad on my nokia n95 8gb the chrome color start to come out and become ugly can you help me fix it??

    thanks

  • You would have to exchange the buttons with new ones. Would not recommend it though unless you really really hate it :p

You might want to put your phone in a pouch or a small cloth bag of some sort, just to keep it looking newer for longer period of time. =)

  • thanks.

about the bag it's make the phone fat.

and you have to open the cover then the slide then ansower. it's esey at the begine

after month you heat you'r self.

sorry about my bad English and thanks for the adv.

  • I have used a bag/pouch for my Phones for at lest 6-7 years. Keeps the phone really neat and newish, I love it =)

  • Hi there,

i saw the video a couple of time and read also all the comments since i have to do this also on my phone :(

can you please tell me one more time what tape and what glue is the best to use?

can be normal scotch (tesafilm) used?

    thank you!

  • Hi!

I use no glue in this video, except the glue on the backside of the tape, hence the name: tape.

Scotch (tesafilm), if you measure the thickness of the tape I can compare it to the one I used in the video. =)

  • I found on the net a tutorial which was explaining how to unscrew the metal rail hold by the 3 screws, then bending just a lil bit the corners of it to the inside, making the angle smaller. What do you think about this? i tried to post here the link but it's not showing up :(

  • You can't post links in comments ;)

That actually sounds like a good idea, but I am not sure how the brittle plastic will take that treatment.

  • ah... search on google the followings "Slider beim Nokia N95 8GB spielfrei einstellen"

should be the first result. Somewhere on another page the guy is stating that it works for over a year since he done that. Also stating first to bend only one corner, since this will reduce all the other a lil bit and only if it's necessary to proceed with the other one. And he is saying also that the slider is after a lil bit more tight.

  • Ah, seems like a read completely wrong, bending the metal rail as far as I can see is an excellent idea! Why did not I think of that? ^_^

Id say give it a try! ;)

  • the author is presenting this as an alternative of minimizing the gap, instead of filling it in. I will try it also but first i have to find a torx 5.

Thank you for your time and please let us know if you make also any new findings.

    Have a great week-end!

Ps. I cannot believe it that Nokia was selling the N95 8GB like this, after they saw the same issue on the simple N95. I'm somehow very dissapointed and after more then 10 years of nokia usuage i will try to find an alternative next time.

  • You too ;)

Well, they do cover it for free via the guarantee if you send it to a Nokia service center so it's not all bad, but I agree that it's still pretty lame.

  • SO.... i went today and bought a TORX 5. Opened the case, unscrewed the 3, then took the metal bar out from the right side. I bend the upper part a lil bit, put it back and apparently although it seems like loose, it was not after putting the 3 screws back. I tried also to bend the lover part, but then the slider becomes really to tight, so actually the CONCLUSION is it's enough only on the upper corner. Carefully when bending, not to break it ;) It needs just a lil bit, 1-1.5mm max.

  • I'm glad it worked so easy, but for NOKIA, i do think they lost a couple of customers, including myself. Next time i#ll by a phone, i'll surely think twice about Nokia!!!!

  • nice !!!! It works :)

  • thanks for the video, i follow it, thanks

  • maybe you can help me with something. I did this successfully on the right side, then put it together, and was going to put some tape on the left side.

the whole slide came off, and I can only manage to get the right side on its rail again. the left won't seem to fit. any ideas?

  • Very few I am afraid, I have never done the left side since it usually sits pretty tight.

I have always thought the left side was identical, as I have slightly looked at it, but not removed it.

I would first closely inspect the parts and the phone itself to check that you have not damaged any of the parts, then I would try assembling again with much care. =)

  • thanks for the advice. I actually managed to fix it after trying to do it for an hour. if both sides come off, you have to snap the left side back in first. I couldn't do it before because the small wheel that makes the slider work on the left side needs to be pushed back (it has a small spring) so the left side falls into place.

took me ages to figure that out.

  • I did so, and work great

    thanks

  • it worked on my n95 8 gig, instead of black tape, i use masking tape. wow, thanks, now my phone is firm and no more shaky slider for me! ;)

  • aww crap i bite the hell out of my nails!

  • i have the same problem ...but i am afraid to do that.... :-/

  • i have thw same problem on my n95 ...but i'm a bit scared of doing this because i tend to fuck up everything i touch,,,so better leave it this way...but thanks for the tutorial :)

PS. Google translator doesn't do you any favours :)

  • Np, safe choice ;)

Google Translate? Not sure what you are talking about. ^_^

  • Your (a) loser you mother f(u)cker(!)

    D-

    Kann ich Ihnen helfen?

  • cool! it works... my phone also had no tape or anything there. After I put some there the wobbly corner was gone.

  • OK thanks for advice!

  • Oricand ;)

Dar invata limba engleza, este util.

  • but what must be done to change the plastic?

  • Alegeţi o bandă mai groase, probabil.

  • smell a google tranlator use him because I do not know English well: D

  • and I made all stages pa which you showed the video and the same slider moves

  • Ok, so it did not fix the problem?

Well then the tape probably wasn't thick enough.

  • to my phone line is missing from the black plastic fixed slaider please and when I did what you showed on video was not received as slaider move

  • I smell google translation or severely bad English, maybe both.

You are talking about 3:08 on the video right?

  • plastic to me on the phone has no black line help please!

  • Good! That means nobody has been tinkering with your phone before you bought it.

(That black line is the tape that I put there, the reason you see it when I take it apart is because I lost the first video due to my Camera and had to do it one more time, therefor I did not remove the tape and hoped nobody would notice it. You are the second person to notice it ;)

  • i have the problem exactly as rygedrengen's.. black screen but the keypad lights still on.. pls.. pls.. help me.. or us... thanks a lot

  • I have explained for rygedrengen and since you have the same problem you will get the same reply ;)

Which means that your options are open, what you do however is up to you.

  • Do you know the problem, where the screen is black. But you can still call, talk and use the phone. But only the screen is black and dead. Think its called the Flex-cable or something, can you fix this?

    Thanks a lot.

  • You are very right, there is a thin flat cable connecting to the screen, this cable you can inspect by removing the plastic rails on both sides of the phone, this will "unhinge" the whole screen bit. However, since this cable is either loose in one of the ends or has one of it's copper lines severed, you might want to send it in for repair. Probably wont cost much ;)

  • exelente gracias a este tuto pude arreglar lo suelto del slider y eso ya me tenia loco, muchas gracias men.

    thanks for the tutorial.

  • YOU'RE AWESOME!!

  • wow..thanks alot..it worked perfectly fine..was quite nervous when i first dismantelled my phone but manage to do like you said..

took me around 10 minutes to put everything together..

now my phone's like BRAND NEW!!THANKS MAN..

  • you dont know how to fix your images when they freeze up do you??

  • Well, if my phone froze I would turn it off, either with the button or by removing the battery.

If the problem continues after reboot I would update the firmware on the phone. ;)

  • hey could you tell me how to fix the ear piece on a n95 8gb cant hear anything only through the loudspeaker

  • When you are talking about the ear piece, you are talking about the handsfree, right?

Cause if it's that, then just get a new one, it's not really worth fixing. Not only is it a bitch to solder, but since the copper cables inside are so small and fragile they will most likely break on the place they where fixed.

If the problem is in the phone female 3.5mm minijack contact, then you need to send it in to a Nokia Service Center. =)

  • Very good video!

  • hey bro i need your help! help me plase

when i plugin my headset i can hear only mono not sterio why ?????

  • You sure you have plugged the headset in properly?

Try the headset on your computer or borrow another headset that you know work, this way you can isolate the error to either be the headset itself or the phone.

  • the headset work on pc and on my psp

  • Then I would say that the Nokia has a problem.

  • Hi this is N95 8G user...I have a problem using my unit about its camera..I wanna use the main cam which is back camera...I dnt knw what do to to use back the BACK camera...I can only use the 2ndary cam which is FRONT...Anyone can help me? Thank u! Dolly here

  • If secondary camera is selected, simply press Options and "Use main camera".

If main camera is selected, simply press Options and "Use secondary Camera".

    Does that help you? =)

  • thank you for the respone.i really appreciate.

  • süper

  • hi! first of all nice video!.i have an n95 8gb and a friend of mine told me that i have big problems with the slide.i made a video with my problem and my appeal to you is to take a look and to tell me if it's normal and if it is how serious ? thanks ! i will wait for your answer.

  • Hi and thanks for the video, just a couple of questions, how long does it take for the slider to become loose? I have just got hold of a year old N95 8Gb and it's a little loose, also what are the chances of getting hold of a new piece of plastic? I'm sure they can't be too expensive.

    Thanks again.

  • I really don't know if the gets much worse over time, usually they come properly "preloosened".

Don't know where one can buy a new rail. Nokia service centers have them, but not for sale.

  • Try Accessory Link, they are based in London UK. I don't think they sell the rails but they sell the slide assembly with the newer type rails on them.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hey! Thanks a lot for that tip, I will send them a mail asap! ;)

  • it dosent take even 1 year for the slider to get loose. it gets loose from about 2months

  • I haven't had the "pleasure" to look at more than two of these so far (Not counting the first N95) and both had exactly the same looseness from being brand new, but I am sure there are others that get worse over time, but I have feeling it's few, because of the way the plastic rail works.

  • aa shit i cant get the cover removed

it's like damn super glued there

i already forced it pretty hard and nothing but a slight crack sound

    pffffff

  • You have to give the cover some time, when you force it off you can feel that you are doing it right if it slowly let's go.

However be careful, I bet it can easily break if to much force is applied.

  • ok tnx..anyway i can replace the tape anytym i want ryt?tnx man, this vid really helped me a lot..hehehehe..nice vid man^_^

  • You can change the tape at any time, but the problem is that the plastic rail will have a little glue left on it which will make the next tape piece stick rather poorly. So you need to clean it first, use "Sticker remover", a citrus spray. This dissolves the glue and makes it easy to just wipe off.

  • ow b4 i forget..tnx a lot man..

  • hey dude, i did this on my fon, it works perfectly fine...but im wondrn if how long will the tape(electrical) take for it to deteriorate? pls answer..In ur case, how long did the tape last?just give me sum aproximation..tnx in advance^_^

  • Hard question.

You see the tape I used was way to thick, this made the phone really hard to slide and in this case it was very poorly sticked to the plastic to.

However a proper tape which sits very nice on the plastic rail without being pushed down to much should last months.

However it is very hard to judge.

  • used to do this on my Samsung D900

    good tutorial for N95

  • Thanks man !!! It works great!!!

How long it will takes to the tape to deteriorate??

Will i every month have to do this or?

    Anyway thanks

  • No problem =)

It depends on how well you got the tape to stick, how thick the tape is and how much you use the phone.

  • if the warrant is not expired. can they (NOKIA POINTS)do it for me??...

  • Considering that this is a factory failure form their side, yes =)

But call your local Nokia service center first and make sure that the warranty has not expired and to make sure that they wont charge you for it.

  • do you know how to disconnect the screen from the rest of the phone?? i think the connection has come loose from my screen to the rest of the phone because my screens stopped working but i can still phone people and stuff and its not as if my screens smashed or anything?? any idea what me problem is or how much it'll be to fix?? cheers bud!

  • Check out the Related Videos, there are plenty of them concerning assembly and disassembly of the N95. I think you will find your answer there =)

  • im too scared to do it myself. do it for me!!

    ill pay =[

  • Has the warranty expired?

  • i won the phone from a contest. i got it in november-ish. i dont think so.

  • Then you should call your local Nokia service center. Since this is a mistake from Nokia it's covered by their warrenty.

I know they have better plastic rails. =)

  • i dont wanna be a pain. but what should i expect after calling them and telling the problem?

  • I am not sure, but you should stand your ground on this matter because it's not supposed to be like this. A couple of months ago my neighbor showed me his N95 8GB and I told what was wrong with it and that the slider had to get fixed. The next time I saw the phone it was fixed 100% slider and all. So just tell them that this is a standard issue with this specific Nokia and that you demand it to be fixed. =)

  • alright thanks a lot !

  • It's will take them about a month or so,

If you want it in a week or less, I can fix it, I will charge you 50 bucks. I have professional tools and everything.

    it's up to you =)

  • is this a major operation? you should inject some anesthetics before u operate that . . lolzzz.

  • Nah, not really. It might be a bit fiddly, but as long as you are careful not much can go wrong. =)

  • thank you

  • TOOOOO MUCH HASSLE!

  • i almost fade away when i saw you doing that on ur n95 8gb lol

are the games for this phone good?

  • I think you probably are looking for the word "fainted". ;)

Ngage does not interest me, much, but as far as I know it doesn't have that many games yet?

  • lol

u r right, thats the word i've been searching

anyway... would u recommend me this phone? :D

  • Recommend this phone?

Considering it's size and terrible build quality I would tell you to look into the N82 instead and if the camera is of no use to you then take a look at the 5800 ExpressMusic.

  • n95 8 gb vs N82:

n82: Xenon flash, microsd slot (up to 32gb), candybar format (more robust and durable), better firmware update system, lens cover, auto screen rotation, faster startup, generally faster, much better GPS signal. Hacks can make the screen as brighter as the n95's.

n95 8gb: bigger screen, better keyboard, multimedia keys, IR (outdated) and prettier (only women and faggots should care about this), bad sliders (your phone will sound like a rattle in few months of use)

    N82 > N95 8gb

  • Let's get one thing straight, N82 in black looks far better than N95, period.

Auto rotate screen is a feature the N95 also have, It came with one of the last updates.

How can the N82 be faster and doesn't it use exactly the same firmware update system?

I have actually used the IR to make a Sony BD350 DVD region free ;)

  • i don't know why it is faster, i just checked out some comparison videos here on youtube. the firmware system is better because it's the same found on the n96 (they have "user data preservation"). i didn't knew the n95 also had auto rotation in newer firmwares, sorry. anyway, my n82 arrived today. now i think it's very beautiful phone, and it's silver (because there isn't the black version here in Brazil). I paid 1000 reais (local currency), while the n95 8gb was 1400... i'm happy with my choice

  • Very strange really, cause it has exactly the same CPU, RAM and uses the same software.

"User data preservation" if this means that you don't loose your personal data on the phone when you update firmware, then it has that to. =)

But anyways I also like the N82 more, so have a good one ;)

  • perhabs it's "faster" only because it normally has only 2gb, while the n95 has 8gb by default, go figure. anyway, i still think the n95 is a great phone, and your video helped my brother to fix his phone's loose slider.. thanks a lot :)) 5/5 video!

  • I searched a little, but couldn't find what you where looking for.

  • N82 has not that far from the battery capacity of a N95 8GB. However, you get a proper flash and a far more solid device with actual metal on the front, lovely.

Actually 3310 and N82 has about the same stand-by ;)

Might not want to forget that the 3310 is virtually indestructible. ^^

  • the best fix: buy a N82

  • Yeah, I agree ;)

  • Kein problem =)
