hey i have the same and i just installed it, the airport is fine but like the houses on the actual island are not there and there are no tree's either, any help?

Sounds like you may have some of your scenery settings set so low that the autogen scenery isn't appearing. First, make sure autogen is turned on, then play with the scenery settings until you get the desired result.

Yes, they are birds. There are also dolphins swimming in the ocean and you may have noticed flags waving in the wind. All are part of the FlyTampa package.

I only use payware scenery, and all the payware scenery I have purchased for FSX have come with installers that handle everything for you.
